Yes. It was not a very happening group even before the lockdown of info. When Pastor Baker was alive, he used to chime in on the prayer requests. When of the members called him out as being a male (in a humorous way), he responded it was his job to oversee . There was another prayer support group, but I think that one disappeared.

I'm glad I caught that last argument betwen Gary and Mark, because it is already gone. Gary is such a baby.

eta - I watched the video of the men singing last night. I think that's Laura Baker at the piano (screenshot is just as she was sitting down), and some of the sons among the singers, so I guess they are carrying on the family business at the old stand. I wonder who is preaching.

I just noticed the two keyboards in the photo: I suppose one is a piano and the other is an organ. Is this something you've seen elsewhere?

It's pretty common in IFB churches, from what I've seen. Sometimes there are two pianos. I imagine some are due to an instrument being donated.

The organ, and the woman playing it, have been at Family Baptist (now Cross Pointe?) for as long as I've been watching.

I think of the beard trend among right-wing Christians as dating back to Duck Dynasty (2012-2017), but maybe it took a while to get to the IFB.

I grew up in Christian Missionary Alliance churches. It was always common in them to have an organ and piano. My mom played both, but she liked the piano better. Sunday night services only had the piano accompaniment or occasionally a guitar. I don’t always see it in the small independent Baptist churches, but some of the ones Gary preached at didn’t even have a pianist.

True - I was picturing the ones that are at least some semblance of a church building. But you're right, some of the storefront ones didn't have a piano.

On the local group, Gary is busy telling others what to do. The post will probably be taken down soon since it’s political (ETA: Although Gary never said who to vote for), and I believe it might have false information about a polling location. It’s in a spoiler since it’s political. My anxiety is high about the election. Usually FJ is a break from that, but it probably won’t be today. Does Gary seem more prickly the last six weeks? I’m thinking that without Baker quelling him, Gary is getting more vocal again. There were a lot of comments. I just tried o pull the Gary ones.

As predicted, Gary’s vote Biblically post was taken off the local FB page. When someone asks where her nephew should vote if he was registered at another precinct but recently moved in with her, Gary unhelpfully commented that his son in North Carolina did it online when he moved from New York.

In October, Gary’s youngest put a new profile picture on his page. He looks all grown up! It was a great picture.

I don't know if I have the heart to recap in as much detail as usual, but I'll try.

He says that God was "very merciful to us," between tooth sucks. We hear the dog bark and growl, and Becky sharply yell "Hey!" at it. Gary tells us that "it wadn't a victory, it was th'grace of God. It wadn't luck, it was th'blessings of God."

Gary goes on about not making Trump into a god, and lists all of the opportunities he thinks God has given Christians now - to assemble, to go soul-winning - the usual, and, as usual, ignoring the fact that they already had all of those opportunities.

"Ah do not give one bit of credit to Donald Trump. God spared him, the first tahm that he was assassinated, God turned his head, to a certain point, an' only got his ear. God spared his life. We need t'pray for him. We need t'pray for the next two months, because - he was voted in yesterday, last naht, t'day,  as th'president, but now it's two months, as of yesterday, sixty days, somethin' lahk that, ah don't know - an' he'll be in the Whaht House. But we need t'pray that God'll hold back what the Dems would wanna do, t'make it even some - whole lot harder on Donald Trump t'move farward."

Tooth suck. "Let's dohn - ths ths ths dohn' worship Donald Trump, ah'm just tellin' you, just dohn' worship Donal' Trump,  let's worship God, 'cause it was God that done it. For what it's worth, here's what ah think happened; Donal' Trump got in, ssss two thousan' an' sixteen thank God f'r that, an' Gohhd used him mightily."

He lists a bunch of lies about economics and how everything was better under Trump. "And then, they had t'bring in little Chahna - um, what was it called Becky, Chahna - th'vahris we got?

Becky says something I can't make out, and speaks again in the middle of the next thing he says.

"Yeah had t'bring in, Chahna had t'bring in little - Covit, an' ever'body was just, 'Ohohoh. Oh.'"

He tells us again that he "had th'Covit" and pneumonia, "and if what th'doctors say is right and true, an' ah'm not sure all of 'em tell th' truth, ah shoulda dahd.  But God had mercy on there, amen? But God. Now. Then. We made a - well, ah didn't - some people worshiped Donal' Trump, some people quit prayin' - amen! Truth - if if th'truth hurts, just put yer shoe on, git it on yer knees, repent an' git raht w'God."

He goes on blaming people who forgot about God and worshiped Trump. In the middle of telling us about God's goodness, he reads a comment aloud, with no sign that it isn't part of the same statement.

I think the second iteration of "Indiana" is when he realizes his mistake, and is somewhat self-mocking, because he makes this face:

He finishes with his usual crap about praying, finding a bible-believing church, getting saved, etc.
