RIP Bob Newhart

Bob Newhart has died.

This one makes me sad, but I am grateful that he lived such a long life, and gave us all so much laughter.

I loved his early work, the Bob Newhart Show, his guest gigs on various shows, and this skit from Mad TV:

Bob Newhart was an icon of my childhood. My mother disliked and limited most TV, so I didn’t see most of the iconic shows of that era (Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Brady Bunch, etc.) until they hit reruns. However, Mom loved Bob, so the one guaranteed time during the week when the TV would be on was for Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnett. I saw most of the original Bob Newhart in first run and laugh just as hard now as I did then. I’m equally fond of Newhart. 

fun fact - Bob and I were born in the same hospital, though many years apart.

Summer 2024 has not been kind to us with the loss of Newhart and so many other good people.
