Their latest podcast is a "reaction" to Duggars on Ice, when they had that ice storm. Interesting the way Jinger remembers things. She talked of being without power, the crew trying to get to them and pick up diapers on the way, the shed falling apart, and then led into talking about the grandparents. Very very interesting......we'll see if they do more of them. Poor Jeremy is clued out about snow ice cream.....but of course living where they are, they would have to be visiting the Duggar family right at the snow time to get him to experience that.

I specifically remember that episode because Jinger had to be the one to tell her parents about the shed, on camera. Poor thing looked scared and the Jim Bob pontificated about how important it was to react calmly because the kids were watching.

that all sounds awesome, my child would enjoy that day. Ill drop her off soon lol. She would also love and all day snack and screen day if that works best for you...

My one take away is that your brother in law is an arse

dictating how you look after his kids when you are doing him a favour. ?!?!!?

When people do me a favour by looking after my child, they are people I trust enough to take care of my child to my standard and if that means that they sit on the couch all day with a screen then so be it.

My child knows that she is allowed coke at her Aunt's house but it is not something she is generally allowed with me. My daughter accepts this and the aunt knows not to give her more than one can.

I believe the people that I trust to take care of my child can make good choices that show my child a different kind of parenting without undermining my parental authority.

My daughter would know she cant generally sit on screen time all day with me but if that is what a babysitter had to do to make it work to their schedule than so be it,

children are precious but sometimes I don't get why people are so precious...

In saying that my child is an easy going child that adapts well, I get that some kids need strict routines that need to be passed on to care givers.

Coca-Cola, right? 😉😉

lol yes

I don't think Aussies ever call it by its full name. But I suppose it is always used in a more clearer context :)

In a recent q&a Jinger confirmed that Felicity goes to a private Christian school. To me that was news, but maybe it was already confirmed.

I didn't know that. While I don't know how the school is, at least she is around other children and hopefully had a good teacher.

That is somewhat good news. She isn't being homeschooling by her parents. I don't trust Jeremy to be a good teacher anymore than I trust Jinger. I don't think he has the skillset or personality for it.

We already knew that. It’s been speculated (maybe confirmed?) that the school is affiliated with their church. Probably still a good thing, but not great.

I went to a church school from k-8 and was at church a lot. I'm now a Harris voting agnostic. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. At least she'll be surrounded by slightly different ideas than her parents have.

Some of the people who attend that church are even Democrats and she'll be exposed to children where both parents work outside the home.  If she's lucky she'll be in class with a working actress and screenwriter's daughter.

One of MacArthur’s quirks is that the worst parts of his theology seem to play out in church and communities far from the mothership. I have heard from multiple people that his church is reasonably chill. Our local MacArthur influenced church is a hot mess of hard core fundamentalism.

I wonder if some diehard fundies just like his material.  I'm reasonably sure that there are attendees at the Sun Valley church who have never read a single one of his books.

Maybe?  I have overly negative feelings towards him though precisely because of the disconnect. He preaches a life that he himself would never live.

Megachurches will always have parishioners who go to church but don’t take everything completely seriously. MacArthur is an unbelievably toxic person with horrific beliefs. I have read his books (my family still goes to a church that adores him) and listened to some of his teachings… it’s disgusting. But mega churches often have multiple pastors and they love $$$$ most of all. It’s possible his home church is less hard hitting.

It’s also possible that most people are just stunningly inconsistent in their strongly held beliefs.  The number of people I know that want conservative pastors and have live-in partners is unbelievable.  I always have to laugh a bit at it.

That is every fundie or evangelical pastor that I've ever gotten to know even the tiniest bit.  What they preach and how they live/their actions never match up.

Evangelical pastors are almost universally hypocrites.  I say almost because there's probably been one or two good ones throughout history.

I'd guess a mega church will be more lax on people following teaching to a T than the tiny church plant Jer worked at in Laredo.  When you have 20 parishoners, they're probably not joining for the social aspect of it.

Fundies and more conservative (not just in the American sense) LOVE MacArthur theology. I've even had some Sunday school teachers quote and recommend MacArthur in my church (I live in the Caribbean...in many ways we are very unlike American evangelical churches).

As for the mothership, sometimes churches are chill until you get really into them. For the casual Sunday goer it might be chill but for a person entrenched in ministry, it's probably not. Also, we know MacArthur is extremely racist, homophobic and misogynistic (including publicly shaming a woman for divorcing her abusive husband) so "chill" is probably extremely subjective.

Does the school have an online component? I remember Joy saying that she was using a homeschool option that had a virtual option. Since Joy and Jinger are close I’m curious as to whether they put their kids in the same school.

I hope so. Duggar V1 (Jim Bob and Michelle) were in no way capable of educating their children. V2 is infinitely worse.

This is the school associated with their church.  It's roughly half at home and half classroom.

They have a separate one morning a week TK substitute program.

I don’t like their emphasis on theology, but that part time in class/ part time at home mix can work really, really well for lots of kids.

My family in the Caribbean were always Catholic. Then my cousin's son turned Evangelical and so did she. I'm sure my aunt is turning in her grave. I wonder if it is MacArthur?
