A place known as the World's Largest Truckstop is celebrating 60 years in business...

Iowa 80 Truckstop began as a small building with 6 diesel pumps and a 50-seat restaurant back in 1964. Then, in 1965, Interstate 80 was built, and before long thousands of truckers and travelers stopped by to fuel up and grab a bite to eat.

In 1984, Standard Oil (now Amoco) decided to sell the gas station/diner to Bill Moon, who had already been managing the place for nearly 20 years. Since then, Iowa 80 has undergone 32 expansions and remodels, opening a multitude of restaurant options, truck washes, and even a trucking museum.

Last year, Iowa 80 saw a record of 56,000 people come to the truckstop.

I've been there a few times myself over the years.  The place is in Walcott, Iowa.  It's about 20 miles away from Davenport.  Since it was a bit out of the way I didn't go there to often when I had that job in Bettendorf.  Mainly when I was staying in the Quad Cities for some reason.  They have a really good restaurant there at the truck stop so now of course I'm craving their food.

I've been there a couple times in the past year or two on trips to visit my son and his wife and baby. Pretty interesting place for a truckstop! And the bathrooms are nice and clean, too! (THE most important thing for me when I'm traveling!😆)

Yes!  Iowa 80!  I love that place, have been there a few times while heading out west to see sister in Utah.  

What really got me was the truck shop there.  All the bells and whistles for your rig.
