I have to start a cheat sheet to keep track of all the TFG trials. He's going more off his rocker daily.

To respond from the previous thread - I think Clarence Thomas should be off the bench completely. It's insane that these people 1. have a lifetime appointment. 2. they have no rules apparently 3. there's no way to get one of them off no matter how egregious.

The Trump "era" sure has managed to find/exploit a significant number of weaknesses in our governance. I wish I could believe that the next wave would be like "hey we need to fix this" but my faith is smaller than trump's humility.

I swear that is Trump's legal defence in a nutshell.

Oh, really?  Did he just admit to working for China during his presidency?

Wait, did I just see the dude who blamed his fancy shoes for him barely being able to mince his way down a ramp try to rag on Desantis for wearing fancy shoes?

I agree. Like, I'd love to bring the founding fathers back for a dinner or something and show them what's going on, their minds would be blown. They didn't plan on such long lifespans, such instant news access, the majority of the population being literate, and it being possible for absolute idiots to become wealthy enough to run for office. Or for the complete corruption and lack of class seen so often in politicians.

Yes, yes he did.

He sees nothing wrong with it, if it made him money that's all that matters. His followers can twist literally anything to fit their narrative. He wasn't "taking emoluments" he was "being a smart businessman". If Biden's son drops his dad's name to get a job, of course, that's ILLEGAL and terrible and OMG! But if Trump uses the office of the presidency to personally profit? Just smart business! Wouldn't you do the same thing? They would!

Trump doesn't understand the law, nor care about it. It's never applied to him before, why should it now? He's famous and powerful and has adoring rubes sending him money hand over fist, so it'd be all good if the "haters" would just quit hating on him and let him profit more, faster.

Oh and also he's king of the world, neener neener. He's richer than God and smarter than Einstein and more powerful than anyone ever.

According to his own stupid self.

Judge Arthur Engoron did let Fuck Face speak at the end of closing arguments as long as it was about the case and not an attempt to stage another Nuremberg rally at court.  Of course that didn't work.

Quote

Barred from giving a formal closing argument, Donald Trump still seized an opportunity to speak in court at the conclusion of his New York civil fraud trial Thursday, unleashing a barrage of attacks in a six-minute diatribe before being cut off by the judge.

Trump spoke as the judge was trying to find out if the former president would follow rules requiring him to keep his remarks focused on matters related to the trial. Asked whether he would comply with the guidelines, Trump defied the judge and simply launched into his speech.

“We have a situation where I am an innocent man,” Trump protested. “I’m being persecuted by someone running for office and I think you have to go outside the bounds.”

Judge Arthur Engoron — who earlier denied Trump’s extraordinary request to give his own closing statement — let him continue almost uninterrupted for what amounted to a brief personal summation, then cut him off for a scheduled lunch break.

Geez, Judge Engoron, grow a set already when it comes to dealing with the likes of Fuck Face.

I thought there was going to be a 50k$ fine? Uggghhhh  I guess only if he "agreed" to the fine.  They should have had the bailiff haul him out like any regular american. I'm so fucking tired of rich people playing the system. a poor person can't afford lawyers to play legal games and can't take these risks....not to mention the general propensity to treat rich people with more leniency.

There's a school of thought that Engoron let him do it so he'd trap himself.  It certainly did him no favors.  They were just in court to discuss damages.  Engoron already ruled that Trump is guilty of financial fraud.  Now the judge can say he gave Trump considerable latitude but, in the end, he said nothing that helped the case.  He just whined.

I get that theory...but I am skeptical this judge is going to do anything at this point.

before the "trail" even started? ugh.

I'm so extremely tried of the constant HYPE YOU UP TO BE ANGRY rhetoric. I don't understand how anybody can keep going in this agitated state all the time. I'm exhausted reading about it. I don't understand how those who follow him aren't exhausted. It's like if you read nothing but gaza news stories eventually you (and I ) just can't take any more and start tuning it out/turning it off/looking away. I'm not an especially sensitive news viewer and I'm just totally burnt out on all this bad news.

How can these trump followers still stay so upset YEARS later? Unlike dumb dumb, regular people have jobs and families to look into/after and they're not super motivated (for the most part) in avoiding jail.

Also, I'm not super patriotic and never have been but I'm damned tired of this idiot (and others) saying America is a third world waste land. We have some significant issues for sure but clearly there's still many many people who would love to come here because we have something to offer. Can we stop bashing everything American?? I hate these people so much. STFU.
