A Christian Woman Addicted to Porn

Cheer up Shirley, I was a nail biter until 30. I can grow some talons now, but alas I'm a gardener, so I tend to keep them short in the summer. When they're long I use them as tools.

HOW DID YOU DO IT? Be my Titus 2 woman.

My first thought: Is she really addicted, or does she just enjoy watching a good porn once in a while?

Women do it, too.

Conservative areas in this country tend to be the biggest consumers of porn. I wouldn't be surprised if a significant chunk of those consumers are stay at home Christian wives.

It was a combo of techniques Shirley. I used some of that nasty tasting stuff that you painted on. A jar of hand cream that was very heavy in lanolin to help heal my cuticles (I bit and tore those too) and I made it a point to stop hiding my hands in public. Every night I would maintain my cuticles and nails, until I had little bits of white nail growth showing. After that it was a piece of cake. I also focused on what I was thinking or what my biting trigger was and worked on those issues. I wore white cotton gloves at night with an extra helping of the lanolin cream.

Sorry to take this thread on a distasteful aside, but I am celebrating a new big toenail right now. I dropped a chisel (ouch, I can barely type this!) on the nailbed at Christmas last year and my nail bled a lot (or may I say, "allot"!) and the nail stopped growing. After 10 months of covering my toes up in shame, my nail has finally grown back beautifully and I am going to get a pedi to celebrate. :D

I usually go red when I want a celebratory pedi, but maybe there are more fashionable colours to try?

My nails are sooooo broken off and split right now, that I am sad. I want an mani, but what is the use??

I have a bluey purple on order!

A mani is a nice way to get started on the road back to nice nails. A good trim and file and a pot of something lovely to keep to hand to massage them back to health is a good thing.

(But, yeah, I avoided pedicures for nearly a year after my toenail incident, so who am

I to give advice..... ;) )

I hate to play Internet psychologist, but assuming it's for real, it does sound like this woman really does have a problem.

Is there anything that will help nails from tearing, chipping, and flaking? Mine have always been very weak. My mother and sister have strong nails that grow very long. Mine never do. Any nail products, vitamins, minerals, anything that will help?

My friend swears by a special oil from her salon that she applies three times a day, but I have read somehwere that the act of massaging the cuticle (with anything) stimulates and promotes cell growth. It is also hard to bite your nails while massaging the cuticles, so I guess it is a useful discipline one way or another..... :D

I think having bright nail colors with designs of different colors on each nail is huge right now.

Have you guys seen this?

I'm dying to try it but I don't have, you know, three hours to tape my fingers up. Looks sooooo cool though!

So, what looks more professional? A clear/translucent polish or a discreet pink or wine-red?

Stars ain't going to happen with this femme d'un certain age!

I met a black comrade the other day who had the greatest translucent polish, just a little hint of sparkle. Totally professional, but very stylish too.

I mention race as I don't know yours, but if you are white maybe a light shimmery pink would give the effect?

Knight, did you really think you could distract us from the fact that you are avoiding the other thread by using porn?! LOL

I'm glad the toenail grew back nicely!

My husband has the ugliest feet, and part of it is because he is missing his toenails on both big toes. He had too many injuries (most occurred when he played basketball) and his toenails had fallen off so many times that they started coming back all funky and twisted-looking and would dig into his skin and cause problems. He worked with a podiatrist for awhile and the guy finally just lasered the root of both toenails and now they don't grow at all. Sandals or flip flops are NOT an option for him - lol.

OMG, I just threw up some red wine in my mouth! Not at your husband, but at what might have been on my own feet.....

(BTW, It is already 7.30pm here, I am not a lush, just having a glass of wine with my dinner )

Thanks anniec, I will ask about an oil. That would seem to make sense to me; very moisturizing. I do massage my cuticles, but I don't use anything special to do it.

My daughter loves the stars! And I always screw them up :( I can do polka dots, stripes, flowers, plaid, etc, but stars come out like weird pointy flowers. I saw some nail stencils, maybe I will buy some. A dark blue with silver stars would be pretty.

Why not newspaper nails? :D http://www.bforbel.com/2011/05/diy-newspaper-nails.html

Have you guys seen this?

Wow looks like candy :)

Letgo, I started taking Biotin, and it's really helped my nails. It also makes hair grow (ALL your hair, not just the stuff on your head) but for me, the trade off is worth it. It's made my nails much stronger.

I LOVE the newspaper nails and I am going to try it with thrift store comic books. The tie dyed nails would be a hit with the daughters, so we might try it when she has a slumber party. It looks too labor intensive for two sets of nails.

Oh good, something else to try! I really would like to have nice nails. Can't afftord to get them done on a regular basis and getting acrylic nails really ruins them since they sand them down before applying the nail. Mine don't need any more damage.

I wonder if the hair growth would occur on someone who is older. I'm 56. After menopause your hair can thin, so growing hair might not be a bad thing. Oh, and can the Biotin get rid of the gray? :D

Hehe, a friend's mother recommended this to me as a teenager (to strengthen my nails so I would be less likely to pick at them) and said it made her hair 'lustrous.' She didn't mention anything about other hair...

I think she likes sex and is ashamed. I also think her husband sucks in bed and/or is not willing to learn/do what satisfies his wife. And she uses porn to get off because she's not getting off with her husband.

I might try some Biotin! My "other hair" has been thinner than the hair on my head since I had #5. And I have meth brows. Some of that could be due to pituitary issues, but I do like a little hair down there.

"Other" hair.... does that mean it would be too embarassing to get a bikini wax? :o

In 'other ''other" hair' news, I am lucky in that I do not need to shave/wax my legs to often. I would be distraught if I took something to grow my nails, and as a consequence grew a forest on my legs!
