@meee to address your question from the last thread re: NR-Anna's apparent pregnancy:

I did a little googling and it appears that while chemo often hampers a woman's ability to get pregnant in the future, it's not a guarantee of its loss. Remember that she traveled to Seattle for some sort of non-traditional chemo, so I don't know if that was one of the perks they were hoping to obtain. One pregnancy-after-breast-cancer website I found seemed to indicate that it was good to wait some months/a year or two after completing chemo before trying for a pregnancy. As of NR-Anna's last update right before the blog closed up in the fall of 2021, she was in full remission and had been told that while cancer could return at any time, it was most likely within the first two years. And while it's not a chance I personally would want to take (especially with six kids already on land) this site indicated that there's not a higher chance of recurrence with a future pregnancy.

I keep second-guessing myself on whether she REALLY looks pregnant (the September 2021 blog post mentions following a certain diet to help with bloating post-treatment) but in the pic on Chelsy's blog, she's clearly cradling her belly, and like I said in the last thread...as a woman of childbearing age, she would know the message that gesture sends. As a plus-sized woman who carries weight in the belly, I'm very careful to keep my hands off my stomach at all times because that would signal something that would start rumors. So...for better or for worse, I think she must be pregnant, but maybe it's not as awful an idea as I initially thought it was.

If anyone here follows Eamonn and Bec’a videos on YouTube (world travelers), she just went through chemo for breast cancer…well, it seems really recently, but it’s probably been under a year since she finished. They had stored embryos or eggs or something but she is currently 15 weeks pregnant naturally with their first.

I hope that Anna goes back to ABC to finish her degree and that she continues to enjoy it as much as she seems to have done during the past two years.

And I hope that she only trades in the Maxwell surname when she's good and ready.

As much as I wish she returns to ABC to get her degree ( maybe even stay around to  get a Masters!), enjoy life, get a job away from Kansas that she enjoys to prove to herself and family that women can be self sufficient, I wonder if deep down she’d miss her sisters/ brothers and being away from them?  Although Mary is on a path to being a missionary and will probably be living abroad.

Possibly, but she also seems to have many good friends there now as well as being involved in various campus activities (e.g., new student welcoming committee) so Iʻd guess that she will have a satisfactory social life.

She stayed at the campus last summer doing Alpine Adventures. I think Anna is fine with her independence.

IDK, it sounds like she and Sam are settling in Kansas.
Although, ABC does do classes online, so maybe she will finish her degree.

Regarding Anna, I hope she finishes her degree, too. Since she likes kids so much maybe she’ll get a teaching degree and a job at some Christian school somewhere.

As the last unmarried Maxwell child, and especially as a daughter, I severely hope that Anna isn't guilted/ bullied/ browbeaten by Stevehovah into returning home to care for the aging parents.

I want Anna to do what ever makes her happy and fulfilled. Not what Stevehovah wants or commands.

Like Sarah and Mary I'd like to see Anna far away from the Maxhell-verse and Stevehovah.

I find it so weird people are so “invested” in their life lol.  I get it. It’s all snark. I’d be weirded out if people were wishing stuff for me! But their parents put them out in the open.  Talked about their lives & so on.  Still weird.

hey, I read here lol. Just as bad.

I knew Teri gave up when she “threw her towels in”. Instead of organizing.

It’s becoming more and more common than it used to be. There are so many parents making money off of their children via YouTube channels. It used to just be family blogs like the Maxwells. There were less back then. And content wasn’t almost daily. Now there are many families that post almost every day and people watch their children grow up before their very eyes. They know absolutely everything about these kids. Their likes, dislikes, personalities, diagnoses, everything. To me, that’s what’s weird. That parents can sell their children's childhood like that.

I find two things weird about it:

That they can, that is, legally allowed, to sell their children's childhood.

And that anyone would want to.

I agree. I’m such a private person that I can’t even imagine myself having a YouTube channel. Let alone myself and my family.

In the case of the Maxwells and many others, we were also told that their parenting method was THE ONLY WAY to raise children and to live as a family. So, their blogging was both performative and normative.

True. But I’ve come across family channels that were pushing their family similarly as the Maxwells but in a more covert way. Families that show off are similar to the Maxwell’s in that they are acting perfect. Like their way of parenting is best. Even if it’s not religious or culty. I see this with some Mormon family channels. And some non Mormon ones too.

In her Mom’s Corner (or whatever) today Teri said Mary & Sam will work at the church in Leavenworth for two years. PLEASE, children, keep your eyes on faraway places with strange-sounding names. Don’t get lazy & stay in LV. And honeys, consider letting the L*rd work with some nice family planning on your part. I’m sorry for getting personal.  But golly gosh goodness it’s depressing to think of them staying in Kansas. JMHO of course.

I kind of think that Anna will finish via online classes.  Unless she has money saved up from her years of doing whatever she was doing, she'll have to pay for off campus housing herself.  Roommates would be nice, but her father would probably have a nervous breakdown if she lived with the worldly crowd.

I would hope Anna has realized she can live life on her terms. Besides, I doubt fellow ABC students are too worldly! They all go to the same school.

I think this is pretty normal for missionaries going through churches/organisations. They don’t want to send off a young newly married couple to a strange (to them) culture. It is actually a pretty sound practice.

I hope she goes back east to WVa. I Just don’t trust human nature and think her parents will re-infantilize her within months.

I hope that Mary doesn’t get pregnant right away because she decided that it’s ok to use some sort of bc method. Like condoms or NFP. Jesse and Anna will not have a baby until 3 years into marriage. I really hope that was on purpose and not infertility. And I hope Mary follows a similar route.
