The courts are working their way through the hundreds of January 6th defendants. On a good note, four of the Proud Boys leaders were convicted and can expected long prison sentences.

I wish the sentence was longer, but at least it's significant:

What I don't understand about Chansley is the same thing that I didn't understand about Rittenhouse.  Fading away into obscurity is a perfectly good choice.  What is it with these people?  Aren't their 15 minutes of fame enough?  They got that fame from being despicable.  Doesn't shame ever kick in?  Does everyone want to be a star now?

I can't really blame them for attempting the very same thing Trump does all the time: grift, grift, grift off anything and everything he does.

No, and those two mistake the fame they got while being used to promote a cause as something lasting and deserved. They want the free stuff and access that comes with it, then whinge about the down sides. The expect it to be ongoing, not realising that they were used and that their usefulness has passed to those doing the using. Rittenhouse in particular is likely to wake up in his 30s and have nothing to show for the previous decade - no one returns his calls, he has no skills and no savings.

One decade, don't expect he'd have much from earlier!

Paxton in Texas has admitted that he invalidated 2.5 million votes.  He says that he's responsible for the state going to Trump and for Beto O'Rourke losing to Abbott.  There seriously isn't going to be any blowback for this?  If a Democrat had admitted this, the state would be calling for a change in recorded results.  The man stole votes!

The election should be re-held, preferably run by a completely independent body, and Paxton and anyone else involved prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If you can get  20 years jail and up to $10,000 in fines for voting while ineligible then life in prison and $25 million in fines sounds about right.

Hostetter's filing is.... something.

He spends most of the filing reminiscing about the good old days of his policing career.  I bet he was going deep down right wing rabbit holes, then Covid totally unhinged him.  He mentions his Orange County court case, where I think he caused some uproar around Covid restrictions.  The pandemic was so hard on everyone, but really sent some around the bend.

Oh noes!  Could it be that another lawyer might lose his license for committing treason?  What's this world coming to when a white guy can't get by with a little criming?
