This story happened in my local area just last week and it has stayed with me. I didn't see anything on here about it so I hope it's OK that I'm sharing. It was a major local news story and it has bothered me more than I can explain.

California's Central Valley has a large population of Sikhs, many of them farmers and business owners. Every single one of them that I have ever dealt with is a hardworking and kind person. I honestly can't figure out why this family was targeted by this former employee (and it turns out that his brother was involved as well). I especially don't understand why the baby had to die. I think the fact that he literally LEFT her out in an orchard to die of exposure is a special kind of cruelty that I guess I hope I can never understand.

Also this coward tried to kill himself the day after the kidnapping, and I am thankful that he wasn't successful. He also had prior convictions and was released from prison in 2015. https://www.fresnobee.com/news/local/crime/article266915741.html

The victims seemed to be lovely people.  It's hard not to be deeply affected by this.

I didn't realize that the baby was left to die and now I'm even more saddened.
