I actually agree, when dealing with reasonable people differences should be worked through in a private setting. Jim Bob and Michelle are not reasonable people.

Gotta say, that’s really well worded.  They get out in front of it before the documentary is out. They don’t flat out deny anything that could be proven. Spin it as the media liking to sensationalize and exaggerate things for views. Don’t throw Jill under the bus,  but throw some shade at how she and Amy and Deeana participated. I don’t know if it was written by a PR person, but it’s very well done.

How do JB and Michelle expect to reconcile differences privately when one of the “differences” is the failure to get help for four of their daughters after they were abused by their brother?

JB thinks things should be handled in private now.  But not years ago when he made his daughters and children go on two separate episodes of the show to explain how much they love their abuser brother and how they have forgiven him.

Let's not forget there was the Megyn Kelly interview AND the post Ashley Madison scandal episode in which his victims and the other children had to be on camera (not private) sharing their feelings and forced to forgive their brother because they are good Christians.

They were better off saying nothing at all.

Nothing will erase JB's long time public exploitation of his family. Josh's victims being trotted out onto national TV and forced to minimize the horrible things he did to them. All of the filmed labor and childbirths - including their DIL's toilet birth.  Josie's seemingly endless health problems early in life. Michelle's filming of the terrified boy in the orchestra pit so it could be broadcasted on TV. All of the years of child labor that was required to create their phony "reality" show. We could go on and on.

And the only person compensated was Jim Bob.

I hope this leads to more investigations into this despicable man. There's no way he hasn't been bending and/or breaking laws along the way.

Yes there is a profound irony that a man who forced his children to live their lives on television for so many years is now horrified when his daughters choose to go on television/publish books to talk about their real upbringing.

This is it right here. Having ZERO privacy, voice or agency was OK when OTHER people suffered the consequences, but FINALLY JB is having to reap some of the negative effects of his decisions. His kids and adult offspring worked and HE received the payout. And shame on TLC for being part of that scheme.

And please, IRS, invest this man, now. There’s no way what he has done is above board. If one is willing to steal from their own children, he’d certainly steal from the American people. And since he’s also cheap and entitled, I doubt fancy lawyers were involved.

Wow just read the people magazine article detailing that JB and Michelle were not going to tell  Josh's first fiance about the molestation of the girls until after they were married..They never got married and the father in law to be was disgusted...

I think the most telling thing for me is that JB manipulated the situation re was media interest in his family. Josh was away at Gothard’s ‘ troubled young men’ camp and apparently JB planned to say he was away doing ‘ministry’. When it was pointed out to him this wasn’t true, he checked Josh out so it appeared he was living at home.

Exactly.  Another excellent example of his manipulation.  Such a manipulating bastard.  Can you imagine what the girls must have thought when Josh came back for the photo shoot?!  No wonder Jill felt as though she had no choice but to do the Megyn Kelly interview.  How the family was viewed and the optics ALWAYS came first.

Considering they weren't going to tell any of the Holts until after they were married, you do have to wonder how much the Kellers actually knew. I now believe Anna knew nothing at all about Josh's early crimes before they were married and she may have known nothing at all until InTouch broke the story. 

And now having heard the stories of other IBLP wives, I think it's highly probable Josh abused Anna throughout their marriage. He's always had zero regard for women and girls and clearly finds great enjoyment in the pain of others.

I watched episode 1 and it gave me goosebumps and not in a good way. I knew all of this of course, from years of "frequenting" FJ, but seeing it like that it was really really scary. I feel so sorry for all the people who are forced to grow up in cults, and I am very happy for those who managed to escape. Whatever I may have said or believed about Jill and Derick before, speaking out the way they did is huge. Even Amy, I will give her that.

And that was his best friend's daughter. That is how much respect JB has for other people.

Absolutely. I like Tia Levings take on Anna, she was sympathetic because she hass been Anna. She said that we know Anna has options (Tia is right, that ghost-written tell all would be an instant best seller 😂) but Anna doesn't. Anna was almost certainly abused by her parents and trained to be the submissive daughter and then she was married off to a monster who likely abused her. 

I think it was a good editorial choice to interpret Tia's own story of her first marriage and marital rape with the clips of Josh and Anna's wedding.

Tia’s segments made me hope Anna watches the documentary.

I was under the opposite impression that she knew nothing about it and was mad at JB for not telling her.

She says she was completely unaware of the molestations until the rest of the world found out in 2015. 

I believe she and Amy still maintained some sort of relationship with Jim Bob (and I believe Josh) up until Josh's 2021 arrest.  Although I do recall hearing about some bad blood over Mary's estate after she died in 2019.

My interpretation is that she didn't know. Jim Bob and Michelle were said to have told "outsiders" (those outside the leadership of the home church) that he had a problem with pornography. That wording was carefully selected because in IBLP world, etc. pornography doesn't just mean recorded images or video of certain acts or positions. It includes for people like them looking at a catalog with images of women in bras or watching a music video where a woman is in short shorts or skirts dancing to music with a beat. People assumed and guessed, but it was sort of an unspoken thought and understanding. 

Based on what my mother knew of my abuser before it came out that he abused me, Deanna probably quieted any suspicions she had because who wants to believe that about their own family. I just don't see Jim Bob or Michelle being that honest with her.

I think that Jim Bob probably told her the porn story if anything, as Deanna may be a wannabe momager and attention-seeking mother to Amy but I don't think she honestly would put her child in danger like that if she did know. Grandma Mary Duggar is the one I would most certainly say knew things and did not protect her grandchildren in any substantial way. I have to wonder how Amy and Deanna can reconcile that. 

I think it would have been interesting if the docuseries had featured a bit more of what people were told about Josh during those years. For example, the Bates allowed him to sleep in their home next to the bathroom with the girls of the house coming in and out of that room all night. Yes, he was there with Anna (very pregnant) but that was a bit close for comfort. What did Jim Bob say to Grandma Mary or Deanna? What did he say to the people in Big Sandy? When they did the special about traveling across the US in an RV, the RV conveniently wasn't strong enough and they had to include a van in their caravan that was driven by Josh (to keep him away from his sisters while cameras were around? I get that Jill doesn't want to relive that time period and doesn't want to be defined as being one of his victims. However, there are some questions there about how the editing seemed to protect the narrative of Jim Bob that Josh wasn't a predator at all.

If I was Jim Bob (yuck), I would have been concerned he had other victims and would want to find out about it. I wouldn't be covering for him and saying he was away doing a ministry thing.
