Kink it out all you want, if you don’t harm people who don’t consent, or children, I don’t care what you do.

It doesn't work that way. Young Opus Dei people is encouraged to mortify, after years of brainwashing about the fear of God. So it's not free adults deciding anything, it's kids being raised to accept that at some point (I suppose that they start mortifying when they are older than 18 years old, but who knows with this people!).

Anyway, not all Opus Dei members mortify. Just those more commited.

I’m inclined to think that for at least some people, the appeal of those spiky cilice things and the whips, etc, are because they are satisfying the part of them that, we’re they other people, would be satisfied by participating in BDSM scenes or in consuming porn about them. Kink it out all you want, if you don’t harm people who don’t consent, or children, I don’t care what you do. But it must be hard to have unfamiliar urges and feelings and not know what it means or how to process it. (I’m not saying that all people who do the hair shirt/spiky thing on their leg would be equally satisfied by BDSM practices, but some might find satisfaction in them.)

I want to point out that I am completely fine with people kinking it out to their hearts content as long as it is consensual between adults my brain bleach comment had to do with people like the ones in the quote below 👇 because that is some whacked out thinking

Thankfully Opus Dei is more a small, fringe group than anything else.  They do not represent the main body of Catholicism.

Like maybe the Arndt kids? A mutual vow of celibacy is one of the very few reasons for their singleness that makes sense to me.

No, but they aren't that small. Or, rather, they wield a disproportionate amount of power in the political realm.

They.are small but powerful. Their members all have college degrees and tend to work in law and politics. In addition, they have very rich people among them. They also push young ones not to marry and live in Opus houses and give all the money they earn to Opus. Others must marry and have eleventy kids.

It doesn't sound like Kory and Sarah dated that long.  From the reviews of a realtor in El Reno, OK

Kory Bollinger

8/15/22

Recently sold a house through Gatz realty and then through a miracle of the Lord got engaged and needed to buy a house all in the span of a month. Kamara made it all so easy. She shared her expertise and advice all along the way. Was available whenever I had questions and always extremely courteous. I would highly recommended Gatz realty for your property purchasing and selling needs.

Wow, good find! Following your lead, I looked him up on Google Reviews. He has reviewed two other places, an A/C repairperson and a jeweler. All three reviews are very positive, making me think Kory's probably pretty good-natured. I get so annoyed with guys who are rude to service workers and I imagine a good number of fundy "head of household" type guys could be curt or patronizing types.

Just imagine the type of reviews Stevehovah would leave.

All about how he was sure the service person wasn't a Christian and how Stevie tried to get him to turn to the Stevehovah brand the Lord,. But the person refused to listen and rejected Stevie's haraguing ministering --  so now Stevie knows with absolute certainty where that person will go when they die.

Oh good find! hopefully that means Sarah got to choose her own new home. I'm glad she didn't have to move into a batchelor pad and deal with the awkwardness of hating her partner's taste and wondering how to make herself feel at home1

Found this on the realtor’s public Facebook page. It’s a pretty house.

Sight unseen and he didn't ask her to marry him yet.  Doesn't sound like she helped him pick it out.

They could have seen the listing photos, but not done a walk through. I don't know how hot the market is in OK, but here people are in bidding wars, offering all cash, buying without visiting just to get a house.

So “sight unseen” is pretty common right now. Your real estate agent basically walks through and video chats you. This is necessitated by houses moving so fast. You have to be ready to make an offer within hours of a house being listed. While this process is far from ideal, it’s fairly common right now.

I imagine Kory was on the retreat where he proposed and saw this listing. Since he wasn’t home he had to send the real estate agent to see it. It seems that Sarah either knew the proposal was coming and was involved in the choosing of the house. Or- didn’t know and kory just picked out the house on his own.

One thing I learned after a bit of FB stalking, is that I have a cousin in OK who lives near El Reno.  She is at least FB friends with someone who might be one of Kory's sisters.  Now I don't talk to this cousin very often, so I can't very well call her up and ask her who she knows and how well, but I thought it was exciting to at least have that connection.

It would be a major red flag if I found my partner had bought a house without me even seeing it. Especially if he expected me to live it with him.  I know it's normal for fundies like Sarah's brothers, but they usually buy their houses before they meet their wives. Also I hoped Sarah was marrying a guy who wasn't like her family. This guy is probably at least fundie-lite.

I also hope he asked for a home inspection in the contract if he bought it unseen. You'd be surprised how many people forget to do that.

If the engagement was a surprise then she probably didn't see a picture of the house.  If they were talking marriage, then maybe she did see a pic.  Who knows, but one thing I know for me...  If my fiance bought a house without me seeing it first and approving, I would be pretty pissed.

The wording makes him look so desperate, like if only a miracle could make him find a wife.

Can I make a joke about such a quick engagement? Will we see a "premature" chubby baby six months after the wedding?

Realtors name is Kamara …. Seeing the K I’m wondering if she is his sister and married to a Gatz?

Also wondering why he wouldn’t want his new fiancé Sarah to be involved in house hunting. It would have been a new and interesting experience for her to be involved.

Decent 2 bedroom starter home. Boy, houses and taxes are cheap in OK!  Maybe he wanted to be able to say he had a house for them as they got engaged and married ( still think odd that she didn’t have a say in selection) so that was the rush?

My guess is they’re planning to upgrade and move within  3 or 4 years.

It's very ... brown.  Those cabinets and paneling are crying out for chalk paint or whatever the current refinishing trend is.

Ugh I would hate to see that happen. I love  the kitchen cabinets the way they are. I bet they are original to this mid century house. And they are in good condition for their age. I hope they only paint the walls. But not the cabinets, doors, or trim. White trim/doors/cabinets are going out of style now anyway.
