Here is the cast list. Since the movie hasn’t come out yet, it’s possible the full cast list isn’t on imbd. But Michael Shamblin’s character isn’t listed but Elizabeth and Brandon’s are.

Apparently Michael is being played by Dylan Colton.

Interesting cast list. "Church Leader on Plane" is a role.

I bet once the movie comes out, it will say David Martin and not “church leader on plane.”

Very very possible, given that DM was GS's righthand man, but that actor looks more like Jessica Walter's husband (forgot his name)

The RF FB is seriously pushing Dodge wedding #3:    https://www.facebook.com/remnantfellowshipweddings/

This is the 3rd post, although one of the 3 seems to have dropped off.

Is it possible RF realizes that people know about the 3 weddings, even RF people caught in the RF Memory Erasure Vortex (TM)?

Oh say it aint so Mitchie -- 2 divorces/ 3 weddings in 5-6 years. Tsk Tsk Tsk. Even Gwod only divorced once.

I think they are throwing less and less RF weddings. Before Gwen died there were 1-3 weddings every non religious holiday weekend. Now there are way less. I think weddings were a big way to draw people in before Gwen died. There were so many posts with beautiful weddings decorated so well. It was basically guaranteed that if you joined RF, you would get a gorgeous wedding for cheaper than usual because of all the free labor Gwen liked to exploit. I’m always amazed by the fact that this is usually skipped when podcasts or YouTube videos talk about her. It was a big part of RF in my opinion. The fact that Gwen constantly used free labor in the church to her advantage. And it made the members so exhausted and busy, they didn’t have the time to question anything. It’s a common cult tactic. It seems like every beautiful RF wedding happening these days will have plenty of pictures posted. They want to show off. Pretend like everything is still the same. But we know better.

There used to be Stephanie (who is posting about diet gummies and workouts -- she must be out of RF I spose) and who else?

No surprise that the new one is getting lots of airplay. The family of the former Miss Smith is highly regarded IIRC

That house is huge. Why would Elizabeth make it even bigger? Oh yeah, because she has the money for it.

Yet another RF FB photo of Dodge Wedding #3,  This makes 4.    https://www.facebook.com/remnantfellowshipweddings/

Why are they flogging this so hard -- so we'll all forget this is #3?

We won't forget.

The hypocrisy of what RF professes to believe and what they blatantly do is stunning. Not surprising, but stunning.

I've been bingeing Major Crimes (2 or 3 episodes at a time) and there are lots of ads for The Way Down: God, Greed and the Cult of Gwen Shamblin  (I think that's the correct title for "the scripted adaptation")The ad flashed a bedroom scene (squick) with (presumably) Joe and Gwen so there's that.

Lots of ads also for Bad Behind Bars: Jodi Arias, which I won't be watching.

I played around a bit with ChatGPT 😅

Input: Please generate a weight loss sermon in the style of Gwen Shamblin

ChatGPT: Dear friends,

Today, I want to talk to you about the importance of taking care of our bodies. Our bodies are a gift from God, and it's our responsibility to treat them with respect and care. One of the ways we do this is by maintaining a healthy weight.

Many of us struggle with our weight, but the truth is, it's not just about looking good on the outside. Being overweight can lead to a host of health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

But the good news is, we have the power to change. Weight loss is not about depriving yourself or going on a fad diet. It's about making small, sustainable changes to your lifestyle that will add up to big results over time.

Start by examining your eating habits. Are you eating when you're hungry, or are you eating out of habit or because of emotions? Focus on eating nutrient-dense foods that will nourish your body and satisfy your hunger. And remember, portion control is key.

Exercise is also an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Find a physical activity that you enjoy, whether it's taking a walk, playing sports, or lifting weights. The goal is to make movement a regular part of your day.

Finally, don't be discouraged by setbacks. Weight loss is a journey, and there will be ups and downs along the way. But if you stay focused and committed, you will achieve your goal.

So let's make a commitment to ourselves to treat our bodies with respect and care. Let's make the changes we need to achieve a healthy weight and live the abundant life that God has planned for us.

Together, we can do this. Let's get started!

Commentary: Not sure where it got the idea that Gwen Shamblin was in favor of nutrient-dense foods or exercising to lose weight, those are some pretty glaring inaccuracies. Otherwise, a decent first result.

Input: An example of Gwen Shamblin preaching to Remnant Fellowship that they will go to hell if they overeat

ChatGPT: I'm sorry, I cannot generate inappropriate or harmful content. Gwen Shamblin's teachings and preaching style may have been controversial, but it is not appropriate to make false claims about an individual's beliefs or to spread harmful or inflammatory messages.

Commentary: This was not a false claim at all, but okay.

Input: Generate an example of a Gwen Shamblin sermon

ChatGPT: Dear friends,

Today, I want to talk to you about the importance of living a life of obedience to God. We are called to be faithful servants, to follow His commands and live according to His ways. And one of the ways we show our obedience is by taking care of our bodies.

Many of us struggle with our weight, and it can be tempting to turn to food for comfort or to cope with stress. But the truth is, overeating is a form of rebellion against God's plan for our lives. Our bodies were created to be temples of the Holy Spirit, and we must treat them with respect and care.

The solution is not to deny ourselves the pleasures of food, but to find balance and moderation. We must learn to eat when we're hungry and stop when we're full. And we must choose nutrient-dense foods that will nourish our bodies, rather than foods that will only lead to illness and disease.

But this is not just about our physical health. Our obedience to God extends to all aspects of our lives, including our relationships, our finances, and our spiritual growth. We must be disciplined in every area, avoiding the temptation to sin and instead, living a life that is pleasing to God.

So let's make a commitment to live a life of obedience to God. Let's take care of our bodies, resist the temptation to overeat, and live in a way that honors Him. With His help, we can do this. Let's get started!

Commentary: Again with the healthy foods, but otherwise a good parody.

Input: Generate a conversation between Gwen Shamblin and Joe Lara

ChatGPT: Gwen Shamblin: Hello, Joe. It's great to see you today.

Joe Lara: Hello, Gwen. It's good to be here.

Gwen Shamblin: So, Joe, as a leader in the Remnant Fellowship, I know you understand the importance of obedience to God and taking care of our bodies.

Joe Lara: Absolutely, Gwen. We are called to be faithful servants, to follow His commands and live according to His ways.

Gwen Shamblin: And one of the ways we show our obedience is by maintaining a healthy weight. Many of us struggle with our weight, but the truth is, it's not just about looking good on the outside. Being overweight can lead to a host of health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Joe Lara: That's right, Gwen. And we must also remember that overeating is a form of rebellion against God's plan for our lives. Our bodies were created to be temples of the Holy Spirit, and we must treat them with respect and care.

Gwen Shamblin: Exactly, Joe. And this is not just about our physical health. Our obedience to God extends to all aspects of our lives, including our relationships, our finances, and our spiritual growth.

Joe Lara: That's so true, Gwen. And as leaders in the Remnant Fellowship, it's our responsibility to model this obedience and encourage others to follow suit.

Gwen Shamblin: Absolutely, Joe. Together, we can make a difference, living a life that honors God and brings glory to His name.

Commentary: I think I might have actually seen this on an episode of "Life with Gwen and Joe," complete with Joe looking painfully bored the entire time.

Commentary: Lots of healthy foods and exercise again. There must be some false information out there on the internet that is being fed into the AI.

Input: Is the Remnant Fellowship a healthy place for children?

ChatGPT: As a language model, I do not have personal opinions. However, various sources have reported on concerns about the practices and beliefs of Remnant Fellowship and its founder, Gwen Shamblin.

Some former members have reported experiences of physical and emotional abuse, including harsh punishment for children who do not conform to the church's strict rules and expectations. There have also been reports of children being separated from their parents and other family members who are deemed to be in disobedience to the church.

It is important to note that these reports are only allegations and it is difficult to independently verify their accuracy. However, it is recommended that parents thoroughly research and consider all relevant information before making decisions about their children's well-being and involvement in any organization. It's always best to prioritize the safety and well-being of children and to seek out organizations that promote healthy, positive, and supportive environments for children.

Commentary: This same disclaimer showed up multiple times, but I got bored of seeing it and didn't copy/paste every single thing I tried.

Input: Did Gwen Shamblin fake her own death?

ChatGPT: No, there is no credible evidence to support the claim that Gwen Shamblin faked her own death. This is a false rumor and has been widely discredited. Gwen Shamblin is alive and continues to lead the Remnant Fellowship Church.

Commentary: Kind of contradicted itself at the end there.

Input: What are other rumors about Remnant Fellowship

ChatGPT: There have been various rumors and allegations surrounding Remnant Fellowship and its founder, Gwen Shamblin. Some of the most common rumors include:

Cult-like behavior: Remnant Fellowship has been accused of exhibiting cult-like behavior, including strict control over members' lives, emotional and psychological manipulation, and separation from friends and family members who do not conform to the church's beliefs and practices.

Physical and emotional abuse: Some former members have reported experiences of physical and emotional abuse, including harsh punishment for those who do not conform to the church's strict rules and expectations.

Disregard for mental health: There have been reports of members being discouraged from seeking professional mental health treatment and being told to rely solely on prayer and the teachings of the church instead.

It is important to note that these are only allegations and rumors, and it is difficult to independently verify their accuracy. As with any organization, it is recommended that individuals thoroughly research and consider all relevant information before making decisions about their involvement.

Commentary: Pretty accurate, but not very interesting since I only asked the AI to gather information from the internet instead of asking it to generate a parody.

Input: An example of Gwen Shamblin preaching against overeating

ChatGPT: Here is an example of a sermon by Gwen Shamblin on the topic of overeating:

"Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I come to you today to speak on a topic that is close to many of our hearts: overeating. It's a struggle that we've all faced, but it's a struggle that we must overcome if we are to fulfill our God-given purpose in this life.

Overeating is a form of rebellion against God. When we eat more than we need, we are saying that we don't trust in God's provision. We are saying that we don't believe that God will meet our needs. We are saying that we don't believe that God's way is the best way.

But the truth is, God has a plan for our lives. He has a plan for our bodies. He has given us everything we need to live a healthy, fulfilling life. And when we eat more than we need, we are rejecting that plan.

So I challenge you today, brothers and sisters, to take control of your eating habits. To pray before every meal and to ask God to give you the self-control and discipline to only eat what you need. To trust in God's provision and to believe that His way is the best way.

Remember, we are God's temple. We are His vessels. And we must take care of our bodies, so that we can fulfill the purpose that He has for us. So let's be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Let's overcome our struggles with overeating and let's live the lives that God has called us to live."

Commentary: Actually kind of scary! Who wants to bet that Elizabeth suddenly starts preaching and publishing books like crazy now that she can just have ChatGPT cheat and do all the work of leading a cult for her?

Okay turns out I would need to pay like $70/month for Hulu Live TV or a cable TV package, and I refuse to do that out of principle, so I guess I won’t be watching this anytime soon…

Jennifer said she had a very good wig maker for this role. Thank goodness! One of my peeves when watching movies is very bad wigs. It’s so distracting. Of course Gwen’s hair is always distracting. But from the pictures I’ve seen, Jennifer Grey’s wig looks a lot like Gwen’s insane hair.

After it airs tonight it should be available on Lifetime's website, https://www.mylifetime.com/movies, which has free trial options.

I'll be watching tonight, but what's really going to be entertaining is the cult's church's reaction tomorrow.

I admit I loved lifetime movies way back in the day. Especially when they would rerun those 1990s NBC TV movies with Tori Spelling or Kelly Martin. I’m not really into them nowadays. But I will watch 2 or 3 a year for the nostalgia. So I’m enjoying this Gwen Shamblin Lifetime movie. Just for the “Lifetime-iness” of it.

If changing the timeline bothers you, don’t watch this movie. The timeline is way off. But that’s not surprising because Hollywood always does this with true stories. They always change the timeline to make an interesting storyline.

I agree.  We watched this last night.  My poor husband had to put up with my interruptions regarding the timeline and filling in gaps in the story.  I thought the actors were great.  Gwen’s hair kept elevating and getting crispier!  I liked how they at least made an effort to show how Michael’s music dreams were redirected by his mother.  Loved how they demonstrated how orchestrated the Remnant’s lives were, including the fake spontaneous marriage proposal.  Otherwise, it was just a standard, somewhat jumbled, movie.

The final wig was great. It was on point. It even had those weird gaps in the back from where she teased the hell out of it.

Guess I should update again? Frieda (Kiki, we renamed her) is here since the end of February 2021. She came with a bunch of problems, but is the best dog ever and is doing better every day. But we do now know how a dog with ptsd looks like. For real, not joking. If she is triggered during the day, she wakes up screaming at night. Not like dogs dream, but literally screaming. Other than that she went with us on countless trips, loves hiking and even cable cars. She is one heck of a fearless dog in situations who do not remind her of her old life.
My Grandpa passed away last May and I'm still grieving a lot. After sharing a house with my grandparents for over 30 years it is just horrible to lose one of them. Even though it was his decision and he got to go like he wanted. At home, in his bed during the night without doctors. He would have need more care and he did not want more care. So after turning 90 he decided to let go and became weaker and weaker.
In other news my dad stops working for good on April 1st. Retirement time. Keep my Mum and myself in your prayers. We really do not want him at home all the time. Haha!

Well, this is weird. At some point, recently, I broke my wrist. I had to get a Dexa-scan today (put it off for years) and along with some bone loss, damn I had it a few minutes ago… the results said, “Fracture risk is moderate, and the patient has a significant wrist fracture. Treatment is advised.”  my left wrist aches a little but not near as much as my back, feet, knees or fingers, damn RA. I have no idea how it happened. I haven’t fallen in 2 years, haven’t banged or bumped…  the dr will call tomorrow and we’ll get  this straightened out.
