Didn’t know where else to put this but Princess Catherine Amalia of the Netherlands  has been withdrawn from campus housing and back living at home and leaving only to go to school because the Moroccan Mafia is threatening and possibly targeting her.

I don't know much about the Dutch royal family. But it seems unrealistic to expect to enjoy the trappings of royalty AND the joys of an ordinary life. This poor girl did not get to choose, she was born to royal life. But I wonder if she'd have been happier as an ordinary university student--dorm life, dating, eating out with friends, joining clubs. I have a kid about her age, who loves the fun of college life. She'd gladly choose it over tiaras and castles.

When Princess Amalia turned 18 recently, she was automatically entitled to $1.8 million a year.   $300,000 of this was deposited to her bank acct, and the remaining $1.5 million she can claim as expenses.

She declined all of it, noting that she wouldn't be doing anything to earn it. She said she'll repay the $300,000.

If only the older generation of royals had her character!  People would have such respect for Wills and Kate if they did things like this. And the Dutch monarchy cost even more than the British, yet Amalia is the first Dutch royal to do such a thing.

Of course, Amalia's family is enormously wealthy and won't miss this money. Her vast wealth (and her royal status) is what put her in danger.  Although Amalia has far more character than her elders, you can't claim royal privileges and expect to live a normal college life.

She has no life right now as being  targeted by the mafia tends to do that. But the Royal heirs around her age  all over Europe are enjoying a modern young adult life whilst preparing for their futures in addition to attending balls and to Royal duties so She reasonably expected the same.

Well, not really. Charles, for example, hated going to school because he was constantly being photographed. William also did not have a normal school experience, and I doubt George is.

You really can't expect  special privileges and to be addressed as "Your Royal Highness", while at the same time try to enjoy a normal school experience. People are going to treat you differently, you have your detective with you all the time, there are constant security issues, you can't visit other kids' homes, you can't disappear on your bike with a crowd of kids. . . there's just no way to have a normal childhood.

Incorrect.  Given it’s almost exclusively within their social strata The children and young adults of the Scandinavian royal houses go to friends parties, ride their bikes to school, have commoner boy/girlfriends that go largely unremarked upon Etc. Granted they are not doing the club scenes or wild parties  but they have busy social  lives and many hobbies but Catherine Amalia has now been denied all that.

As is she can’t even do the Royal outings and meetings to prepare for her future like her teen peers in  Denmark, Belgium, Spain and Norway are.

This is absolutely not true for the British royal family.

Keep up. We aren’t talking about the British Royal Family here. I know it’s complicated for you to process but there is more than one country with a monarchy in Europe, indeed the world , and there are hundreds of other royalties with their own lives and stories going on.

Before you compare the former Prince of Wales (british), who was in school in the 1950's and 1960's to the now cancelled university and social live of the dutch crown princess had in 2022 (a fricking 60 and more years later in a whole nother country). And in her case it isn't about being photographed or how she is adressed by her co- students. It is about a thread agains her life by a criminal organisation. She isn't the first child from a high profile family targeted and some of them children in the past got hurt or even killed. Maybe instead of showing your ignorance you can use your time to get down the rabbit hole of the moroccan mafia in the Netherlands. This organisation is ruthless, brutal and has killed several people, including a true crime blogger, an investigative journalist crown witnesses and/ or family members of crown witnesses in court cases against them and lawyers. Because of threats against his person, the dutch prime minister was under personal police protection last year and several other people where and are also under that protection.
