I know the video that’s being referred to where Jessa appears to be the most comfortable kid in front of the camera. She seems happy to have people around other than her family. She speaks confidently. She likes being asked about her home life, sort of basking in the light of some undivided attention for once in her young life.

Why must Jessa be referred to as bossy? If she were a boy with the same personality traits and held fifth postion in the family, would “he” be given the same description? Or would “Jess” be called an assertive little leader?

Some of other kids on that video appear introverted, cautious and look sorta sickly.

He would not. And he would also not even be expected to be sweet, by insiders or onlookers. I have a feeling maybe she was quite sweet then, though. Whether or not she is now, meh, idk. I hope for all of them that their better natures haven't been so plowed under that they'll never get them back.

I thought Jill was far more comfortable in front of the cameras. But maybe that was because she was, more often than not, the sister put out front to speak. Maybe JB decided since Jill was more compliant she was more trustworthy to be the spokesperson? Funny, now Jill is no longer trustworthy and is pretty much an outcast with her father.

There’s something especially evil about parentalizing your daughter then criticising her for being bossy. I know, my parents pulled the same trick.

Teri Maxwell has an old blog post in which she basically makes this point. She said people often complained of bossy oldest daughters, and her response was that girls tend to become bossy when they are given too much responsibility. How she reconciled that with parentifying her own eldest daughter, I don’t know, but it also stood out to me as one of the most self-aware comments about their lifestyle.

I think that fundies and broadly speaking "old school parents" are afraid of children with strong personalities. Instead of celebrating that a kid can be a leader (and helping them in developing that skills in a healthy way), call them "bossy" and punish them and only allow them to be "bossy" in order to control the little siblings. It's specially noticeable in girls, but also young boys can suffer it. People like Bontragers seem to adore "powerful, leader sons" but they will never have a healthy leader because those sons have been educated in submission and beaten.

Today on IG Jessa confirms that her family uses a Christian ministry health plan. Josie B. Chimed in that she loves Christian ministry health plan. So, it looks likes some of these folks use that kind of service to mitigate HC costs.

My husband is in claims and has said that those Christian health plans are a big joke. Preventative care? Colonoscopy? Mammogram? HAHAHA! Nope. But hey if you have a claim, they will pray for you (seriously, that is on the plan). And if  you really have an emergency, you are screwed. In their case, JB can pay for whatever bills they have.

Coincidentally, an advertisement for Christian Ministry Health Plan was in my FB feed last night. Like a true enneagram 5, I was curious of what it would cost, so I ran a quote for a family plan that includes maternity care (only the Gold Plan does), and it was in the ballpark of $700 per month. IMO, that is a lot of money to shell out when there is no legally binding contract and no guarantee of payment. Maybe there aren't more affordable options available to them? My first thought was "Why not take that money and put in an HSA and roll it over each year?" Then I learned that you cannot open your own HSA unless you are already enrolled in a high-deductible plan. My final thoughts: I think it's pretty sad that people have to resort to this, even if it partly their own doing.

I guess it makes sense for Jessa to go into partnership with a health care programme- albeit it sounds fairly limited.

It annoys me that they sell this quiverful image of large families, stay at home mothers and pretend it’s all achievable. Without her payments from JB, subsidised housing and perks from the show, there is no way these 2 could afford their lifestyle on Ben’s income.

Commented elsewhere too. Many of the comments are not in favor especially for catastrophic or aftercare situations. It doesn't appear to be trolls, but, those that may have been bitten by the socialist ;) program she's touting.

I read elsewhere that she has deleted those comments and is limiting comments going forward. I'm #blessablocked, so I can't verify.

The Duggars are not known for putting themselves out to help others, so the bill sharing ministry is for sure not something they'd be doing if they thought they were paying more than they got.

I just remember that photoshoot because it was so...beige. Even the kids were virtually colorless, excepting Spurge who was in those gods evil brown overalls that have certainly been passed down to Henry by now.

According to duggardata, her next baby is due next may, so she would not even be pregnant yet. So it would be early for her.

I think it’s sort of weird that a fundie that is known for being quiverful would choose a pregnant picture to advertise something. I think she was just fishing for attention by doing that. They have plenty of pics where she’s not pregnant.
