My parents were so big into “protecting” their kids from the scary world but filled our tiny minds with hell, torture and damnation. I was always anxious that I was going to hell.

Also I was fairly sure I wouldn’t dare to be a Daniel and I would totally renounce Christ to avoid torture when the liberals banned Christianity. We may have all been in different religious groups but they all borrowed from the same playbook on how to emotionally damage children.

It’s sad really. They inflict lifelong traumas wanting to teach kids to be perfect instead of teaching kids how to use reason and decide things on their own. They want robots who will think and act just like them instead of whole humans.

Sadly yes. I see them in my nightmares with some regularity. Did you do the 60s or the 90s versions? I’m old so I watched the 60s versions. The balloon after they guillotine the kid though.

There were/are 60’s versions in existence? Heh, I was all about the 90’s versions. I recall being secretly enamored with “Satan” in Omega Code 2 (90’s version). I low key rooted for him because he looked cool and was charismatic. Oh how the tables have turned lol.

Oh and in regards to the nightmares, you’re not alone. I still have those every once in a while.

Yay childhood religious trauma :D

Sorry, i was talking about left behind. I had already left Christianity by the time this omega code came out and never saw it. I’m low-key curious to see it now but I don’t need more nightmare fodder.

I'm trying my hardest not to subscribe to anything ('til I have a plan on what I really want and when) and so, if you could summarize what TWP had to say about TWD, I for one would have beaucoup treats of your choosing waiting for you next time you head to the prayer closet.

And that's about the longest run-on sentence ever.  Apolgies and TIA! ❤️

While it's on my mind and before I re-start a search for my iphone (it's in the bug nest, just don't know where), two things about RF.  One funny, one not.

To get the unfunny out of the way.

A friend says she immediately suspected the pilot wanted to die, and didn't care about taking 6 people with him. She bases this on his possible feelings of entrapment. I personally hope it was not his idea.

The funny, a palate cleanser.

Got my monthly haircut this week and my stylist - from out of nowhere - started talking about bump-its.  Said she had a friend who still used a yuuuuuge one.  I bought up a recent photo of the late Ms. Lara and turned my phone so the stylist could see it.

She's usually a very placid-faced person, but this time her eyes bugged out, her mouth went into a big "O" shape and she giggled, "That's just what my friend looks like!"

She might've had more to say.  I'll never know.  I had made my usual disclaimer statement about feeling guilty at speaking less than well of the deceased.  So the stylist might have felt restrained.

But her reaction was price-less.

To answer all the hair questions- she used to tease the heck out of her hair and use a hair clip under there to hold her hair up higher and bigger.

I definitely watched the entire 60’s and 90’s series of Left Behind at “church camp” when I was 10, and again at another church camp when I was 12.

Ugh.

I had avoided watching that, and now I know why I did. After watching all of the other testimonies, this just seems to be more of the same. Not sure WHY they are expending so much energy on trying to PROVE to the world how awesome they are. If they have THE TRUTH and are as awesome as they proclaim, surely that will come out in the end.

Did Gwen buy into toys have demons idea? Or that kids can only have certain types of toys? My parents did have enough sense to not force us to burn our toys but I know people who did have to toss their toys into bonfires and listen for the screams of escaping demons.

I never saw the 90s version because I’d left by then (i did mention the old part LOL) but the 60s? Total trama.
Out of curiosity, where did Remnant fall on that issue? Were they pre- post- or mid-tribs doctrinally?

Or no yoga or karate because eastern mysticism and that’s how you get the demons too? If Gwen hated Harry Potter, I’m going to guess that she might have had a version of that tactic going on.

I also didn’t realize that when Elizabeth’s child died the church leaders started trying to find out who was sinning. That is some sin in the camp stuff right there. It is never the cult leaders who sin, they always have to find someone else to blame. I wonder if anyone views the plane crash as being caused by the sin of members.

Honestly I don’t remember. I really don’t remember talking about the rapture in Remnant. I do remember the doomsday prepping which I believe I mentioned a few threads ago. There was a push to make sure you had supplies and it was recommended to read a few books. One of the books was about EMPs and the power grid.

That’s interesting. She kind of struck me as an end times be ready because Jesus is coming type, so I kind expected her to be all about the rapture / tribulation. It seems like an excellent way to keep people in line too. Scare the shit out of them, and they will do whatever it takes to avoid left behind.

I might need to ask some other former members. I remember her reading from revelations but I don’t remember the details at this point. I feel like it was implied that Gwen believed something would happen one day (hence the doomsday prepping) but I don’t think the Left Behind flavor of The Rapture was discussed.

I never felt saved enough. I got saved at least six times and baptized twice. It never took.

Same, except I was only baptized once. I was afraid to admit that I wasn't sure that I was saved. Looking back, it's obvious that I never really believed, but as a kid, I was sure I was doomed to hell for my faith not being strong enough.

Thanks for sharing this. It is “amazing” as they told us many times. From someone who fell for the lies before here are some comments.
1. First I found it interesting that none of the longtime leaders were featured in the video. Particularly Elizabeth and Michael.
2. It was all about the fun and activities to keep everyone busy all the time so they cannot even think about what is being done to their lives with nothing about (what should be) a church’s role in transforming lives.
3. It seems very stilted as some people seemed to have problems with reading their cue cards.
4. Just another fine example of trying to look good on the surface while ignoring the issues covered in the documentary.

May nobody fall for this.

I’ll admit I skipped ahead and didn’t listen to the whole thing but this gave off major proof of life/I’m being forced to do this vibes?! Holy shit that was so awkward…I knew most of the people who spoke and that was not how I remember any of them

I totally understand this feeling! I never felt fully saved. Before Remnant I was catholic and that never felt quite right. I thought there had to be something else. My parents even sent us to a bible camp ran by baptists and that was confusing. The other kids said I wasn’t even a Christian. They had to teach me how to look up Bible verses because that was the first time I had cracked open a Bible. So there I was, a baptized catholic accepting the Baptist alter call as a young child out of a fear of Hell…and then my family joins Remnant. Eventually I was baptized in Remnant as well. I was always a seeker but same as you, I look back and I can see that I was fooling myself and trying to convince myself I truly believed. I have to say, leaving a church that is convinced it is the One True Church makes it easier to let go of the whole concept.

From everything that Gwen taught when something would happen to a prominent person, she would have said the sin was with that person. So, according to Gwen’s teaching, she was the problem.

Yes!! It was all about “Look at us!” My divorce attorney that I needed because of this “amazing” place put it perfectly, a cult of narcissists!  So true!!!

They made sure each clip had color coordinated outfits! 🤦🏼‍♀️

No one was the leader at all. They made sure when they showed books, you didn’t see Gwen’s name. You did see her picture but no name.
The videos from services are old.

I am sure they think this was done very well, but it was creepy.

I was totally creeped by this. Having visited and having a family member still involved it just looks exhausting to be too involved in the remnant.

I am shocked that anti-drug Gwen put up with him smoking marijuana!

yea she kinda failed to mention that right before the wedding, when she was trying convince members of how perfect he was.  I will never forget when  she had called several members to meet at the church one night and we had to sit there and listen to her babble on about how perfect tarzan was, and why she was marrying him. It was a shock to so many because she was divorced one day and was getting married the next. Many of the members were left in the dark and didnt know she even had a boyfriend or knew who tarzen was!!! She went on how his life was perfect and he was just waiting for a wholesome girl to marry someday..........it was quite disgusting.

The video reminds me of their attempts to come here and act like they aren't cult members. They can't do it. That video just screams cult. The people talking sometimes seemed almost scared.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
