Can I ask something not related to the trial? (don't know if this thread is just for that - if so, feel free to ignore).

This thread is for all Josh, Anna, and their kids related topics.  It's absolutely fine to ask about the pregnancy and birth here.

Aren't women typically closed to 20 weeks to find out the sex of the baby?

You can find out the sex of the baby anytime from 8 weeks. Sneakpeek has a blood test that you do at home, from 8 weeks, and then you send in the sample, and get a response, I think, about a week later.

Ultrasounds are from 14 weeks, I checked two popular pregnancy ultrasound places in NW Arkansas, one does sexing from 14 weeks, one 16 weeks.

My guess is that Anna had an ultrasound (at 14 weeks or later), because she has a bunch of other kids, who might find it fun to be there for the ultrasound and sex reveal. Fun family activity sort of thing, but Idk.

If Anna was exactly 9 weeks on 23 April (one week to get results from blood sample), she would be due 26 November. She would be 30+5 days today. If Anna was exactly 14 weeks (earliest sex ultrasound in NW Arkansas), she would be due 22 October. She would be 35+5 days today.

If Anna had her ultrasound on the 23rd April, at exactly 20 weeks, she would have been due 10 September.

We can't narrow it down too much. I'm guessing sometime early October.

Thank you! We don't have private little boutiques or anything around here to do private testing. Women typically go for 12 weeks, 20 weeks and then get an ultrasound closer towards their due date. That's how it's been with all of my friends.

They had a strong case regardless, but Josh’s commentary undermines the attempt to create reasonable doubt because others had access to the computer.

Exactly. He is telling the police the police that he knows about advanced computer stuff (I would have to look at the motions and responses to get the technical jargon correct and I am lazy).  He tells them before they have a chance to search his computer. Not smart from a criminal defense point of view.  All of these statements (if the judge allows them in) will be used against Josh in court. When normally defendants have the right to testify, his statements that he made will be used against him.  More than likely, Josh will not testify and he will not be able to explain away those statements.  His lawyers will try but YIKES.

Because both of my pregnancies were considered high risk (Advanced Maternal Age or geriatric pregnancy depending on which doctor I was seeing), we knew the sex of the baby at 11 weeks and 9 weeks.  My first born we did a CVS test which is like an amniocentesis except that tested the placenta and not the amniotic fluid.  For my second born, the testing has improved so much that they were able to draw my blood when I was 9 weeks pregnant and isolate the baby's blood and test it.  The testing/screenings are used to test for chromosomal abnormalities but also sex if you want to know.  And I have to know everything so that I can be prepared for whatever happens.

It is possible that Anna may have something that makes her high risk that we just don't know about.  We for sure know it is NOT her age.  My insurance covered the screenings because I  was high risk but maybe Anna paid for it out of pocket (doubtful).

here in the UK that's the typical schedule on the NHS but you certainly can go private for more scans. Either through a proper medical clinic or a more boutique-y place. And NIPT testing, which you might be referred to after the 12 week scan if there's a risk the foetus may have a chromosomal abnormality, will also tell what combination of X and Y chromosomes it has.

Basically the traditional anatomy scans, where the sonographer guesses the sex by what they can see of the baby's genitals, are usually only  decipherable from about 16 weeks, which is why the 20 week scan is reliable for finding out the sex. But the sex chromosomes will exist pretty much as soon as a foetal pole does, so with that method (more invasive, more expensive etc) you can find out anytime.

Sometimes it depends on the countries rules as to when you will get the information about the sex from a NIPT test (blood). In my country you can have an abortion till your 12/13 week without reason (even though you have to jump some smaller hoops). So while you get the medical information from a NIPT test as soon as they are available, they will notify you about the sex after this mark to avoid abortion based on sex. If your baby has a severe medical condition or your psychological or physical well being is in danger you can always abort layer though.

Josh is so dumb. Even we, here, who knew about his previous... issues, mostly initially suspected financial or tax-related shenanigans, or something related to a car they had acquired. Even those of us who thought the worst of him didn't necessarily think "car lot raid" would equal "CSA investigation" immediately. I mean, the majority of the time "business raided and computers seized" means "financial, tax, or organized crime funny business".

I don't know that most suspected financial shenanigans as much as most hoped and prayed it was financial shenanigans. Knowing Josh's history, I think a lot of people had that feeling of dread but didn't want to put words to it, speculating anything else to make themselves feel better. And I felt better about snarking when there was still a possibility of it being financial crimes. Obviously everybody wishes children weren't harmed and it was "just" money, but I also remember excited whispers that if it was money-stuff, JB would be going down with him.

I immediately assumed that it was some type of money scheme that stepped over the line. The Duggars have always seemed to be so loosey-goosey with their business dealings. CSA never even entered my mind despite knowing Josh's proclivities.

Unfortunately CSA was the first thing that crossed my mind. I was hoping for shady money dealings for many reasons namely no kids hurt and the possibility of jb coming down too. I was dismayed but not surprised.

I really thought it would be something related to the cars themselves - someone off-loading a car/cars used for drug runs, guns, smuggling people, a dead body….something where the Feds would want transaction records and evidence out of a trunk or something.

I would of thought tax evasion or other financial crimes would be a more low-key audit type situation, if it was just the one shop- and anything involving all the Duggar financials would of been situated elsewhere.

For what it was — horrific as it is, it’s mind blowing to me that he thought his Office, where other people had access, was a good idea! Obviously it wasn’t an entirely spontaneous act, since he went to the trouble of installing TOR, how did he not reason out that he could get caught?

Screams of entitlement. For all JB’s screaming about leave and cleave and Jesus and buying used and being humble, it.was.all.BS. He didn’t educate them or raise them to work for an honest day’s living, but he sure raised a group of lazy, poorly educated entitled beings. And now, unfortunately, they live amongst us in society.

These are “the rules don’t apply to me” kind of people.

Josh Duggar and prosecutors are battling over photos federal officials say show a hand scar matching images on the devices in his child-porn case (msn.com)

"Prosecutors previously said the scar could also be seen in multiple images recovered from the devices that federal authorities seized from Duggar."

Did  we know this, or did I just miss it. Josh's scar matches images seen on his devices?

There are no allegations and no evidence Josh created/produced any CSAM. My understanding here is a picture of Josh's hand (with the scar) is on the same device used to download the CSAM. This device is Josh's, used by Josh (evidenced by the picture of his hand). The government has to prove it was Josh using the device, not just this was Josh's device. Josh could claim someone else was using the device.

Emily D Baker said while the CSAM is absolutely disturbing these are known images.

Objecting to the photos taken by the FBI agents is such a blatant stall tactic. If prosecutors want to demonstrate similarities between Josh’s hands and a hand in a photo on his computer, they can easily take a new photo.

I was also thinking though it may not stand up in court there has to be plenty of ways to get pics of Josh’s hands he is a public person with hundreds of hours of footage and photos all over the place. They could use those images to compare to any possible material and if they find a match then get a warrant for photos to use in court. I dunno just seems common sense to me. Just not sure on the legality.

Are the Rebers wondering how long this can possibly drag on or are they enjoying their house pest?

They have to be annoyed, especially the wife, who didn't seem to want him in the first place. But you know, she has to submit and be godly and follow her husband. They did get Anna's brother as a prize for their daughter when it took longer than the initial timeline of July, so that might have soothed them for a bit. But if he's still there during holidays, like if they can't do Thanksgiving and Christmas the way they do (and not see their family with children) because they have to babysit Josh, I wonder what they'll think/do.

If Josh doesn’t take a plea deal last minute then he is an idiot, they have evidence that the password used to access the partition was has his date of birth and is the same as several passwords he used for personal and business use with FRC and him trying to blame it on other co workers, who are most if all his own brothers isn’t going to work because they have evidence pointing him to being present every time they were accessed and they would have also looked into when the other workers were present to rule him out. Josh is used to just getting a slap on the wrist when caught doing anything wrong and is likely hoping this time will be the same and the reality hasn’t set in for him yet that he will likely be spending years in prison.
