If someone was moving porn to or from the car lot computer wouldn't there either have been a report to Covenant Eyes or a need to have the password to the Linux partition?

Most likely.

Excellent point. If someone OTHER than Josh, without access to the partition, was moving porn of any kind to and from the car lot computer, Anna would have gotten an immediate notice about it. And it's highly likely Josh wouldn't have shared the password to (or even acknowledge the existence of) that partition with anyone else - especially considering the password was the same as his bank password and everything else.

So I think that's just a distraction.

Although, if he was incredibly dumb enough to use the same password for both banking and the partitioned section, and an employee was staying in the office overnight unsupervised, it would give more wiggle room for doubt, if the password was written down somewhere, or was shared with the employee  for company/business accounts, or was easily guessable.  Definitely gives a little wiggle room for doubt.

Seems very grasping at straws, but that’s why they’re making the big bucks.

No way was the password shared, even amongst whatever brothers also worked there. Smuggar turned on the computer in the morning ( or whenever he rolled in). I doubt that lot was open every day, what with it being in a tollbooth alongside a highway. Not the most convenient location.

We keep coming back to the “big bucks”.  Every time the lawyers do anything, however unlikely it is to bring results, the cost goes up.   I have to wonder if JB will pay until he is either broke or Josh is sentenced.

One has the impression that JB tends to be stingy.  Yet the story is he once blew the family’s whole savings on a (failed) political campaign.  So maybe this will be a similar situation.  He may grudge the expense, but he won’t stop paying because keeping Josh out of jail seems worth it to him.

The consensus on FJ seems to  be that Josh can’t get off without jail time. I wonder if we are right and JB is wasting his money or if we are wrong and the Duggars will consider the money well-spent.

I think it's unlikely Josh was sharing his password with others if he was using that password for CSA.

Assuming that there’s a limit to how stupid and arrogant a person can be.

I had a colleague who posted their password on a sticky note attached to their work laptop. Cost the school division a fortune to change everything in the system when, surprise surprise, a student used said password to access secure sites, download stuff etc. I’m not sure that I would be shocked if the genius who used his birthday as his password didn’t keep his password totally private.
Legal people; even if it was someone else who accessed the CSA sites, couldn’t Josh also be charged for having his work devices used in the commission of a crime? Even if this excuse introduces reasonable doubt, can’t Josh still face charges?

One of the reasons so much time passed from the raid to pressing charges is the time required for the computer forensics to go over everything on the computer they seized. They should have timestamps for people logging into an out of the computer, tied to usernames, as well as other sites and materials accessed during the same user session. Presumably, this information can be used to construct a timeline that shows the illegal materials were download an access at a time when Josh was the only person on the car lot.

I’m still curious as to why Josh would employ a non Duggar to work in what seems to be a very small business. He has several brothers who only seem to work for JB - why do they need outside help? I know he’s lazy and entitled but they normally don’t like paying for outside help. Maybe it was his friend who subsequently got prosecuted for sexual offences against an under age female.

I apologize in advance if this question is perceived as fat shaming.  However, given that Josh tends towards a paunch, has essentially been housebound for months, and probably has food brought to him along with lots of snacks:  What will he look like when we see him again?

What jobs do Anna’s 2 youngest brothers have? They seem to be able to spend lots of time with Josh ‘courting’ and on holiday.

I could imagine none of his siblings want to work with him. Maybe JB banned the sisters from unsupervised interactions with Josh anyway and no brother wants to work with him on a regular basis. Now, I don’t want to give them too much credit, but it seems like a possibility to me. Maybe the Duggar siblings all find him as sleazy as we do…

I'm wondering who would volunteer that they had downloaded legal porn using a computer that had already been seized for the prosecution of child porn...and why.  Did the feds disclose evidence of it?

I thought the employee admitted to downloading porn on his cell phone only.

Way back in the early days of the show when Josh had the car lot he had at least one employee. I remember some scripted storyline about them going out for dinner as a team, with their fams. This was way back when Anna spent a lot of time at the car lot too.

If that is the case, can you imagine just how high the level of resentment is that JB is using all the money they earned on lawyers for Josh? Alienate 18 kids to attempt to keep 1 out of jail seems like poor maths to me!

Nathan and David Keller supposedly run a lawn care business in Florida. However Nathan seems to have hitched his wagon to the Rodrigues travelling circus and seems to be trying to cultivate a ‘career’ as a grifting preacher.

David has been in Arkansas courting the daughter of Josh’s temporary landlord- I think they are now engaged. She had a job as a self employed music teacher - which was thwarted by Josh being in the house as it meant she couldn’t have children come to her. I’ve no idea if she has managed to find alternative premises or she has moved to be near David. The finances of these people are a thing of mystery.

I'm going by the post below, which suggests (to me, anyway) that the computer at work was involved in some way.  If it wasn't, then what relevance would the employee downloading legal/adult porn have to Josh's case?  Am I missing something?

Yahoo news had an article saying that Josh’s lawyers were seeking to have the case dismissed because an employee admitted to spending the night on premises without Josh’s knowledge and had adult porn on his phone that he had downloaded during work. Apparently investigators didn’t keep the phone as evidence. Are any other (ie credible) sources discussing this? Josh is a pig but if this is true the other dude isn’t in the clear either. I’m not a Josh fan but if he didn’t do it I would hate to have the person who does get off on viewing CSAM wandering around and free to escalate.

That post mentioned that the employee downloaded porn to his phone. Nothing else. Josh said that others had access to the computer, including this guy which is why he was questioned.

He is very stingy. He used to pay his kids three cents a chore, and would complain when they did so many chores that he had to pay out $20 to a child in a single month (this was probably one of the older girls).

Change a diaper? Here's three cents

Feed a baby supper? Three more cents.

He blew a lot on a political campaign because it was something HE really wanted. It was his campaign. That makes it OK.

Well, there was a solution; he could have lifted a few fingers and done his own darn chores. Had he paid himself 3 cents per chore he may have made 3 cents/year.

In other news, Josh's Jesus Jail is in trouble. In 2015, after the Ashley Madison scandal broke, Josh was sent to a program called Reformers Anonymous. It was run by a church called North Love. The church is now facing allegations of abuse.

Quote

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Nearly two dozen allegations of sexual abuse from women who were connected with North Love Baptist Church, North Love Christian School, Reformers Unanimous and North Love Ministries, are coming to light.

Here's a link to the article that came from.

Interesting.  According to the article:

Quote

Group leaders say all of the alleged abuses have taken place under the watch of Reformers Unanimous co-founder Paul Kingsbury. Kingsbury was a pastor at North Love Church from 1982 until last week.

“The Deacons have unanimously accepted Pastor Kingsbury’s resignation effective immediately,” said North Love Head Deacon Doug Stodola.

So, it appears that when Josh was caught molesting his sisters, he was taken to talk to a local law-enforcement agent who later got in trouble for pornography/abuse himself.  Then when Josh got caught in the Ashley Madison scandal, he was sent to RU which was founded and supervised by someone who is now associated with accusations of sexual abuse.

It does seem like a lot of the people the Duggars turn to have connections with sexual abuse of some sort. (Let’s not forget the leader of them all, Gothard.)

Makes you wonder about the Rebers, doesn’t it? 😄😉
