Duggars and Olympics

So since I am bored at home and waiting for the T to go down so I can enjoy being outside, I was thinking about the Duggars and the Olympics. If for some reason they will casually found the Olympic channel who do you think will defraud them the most? Female Gymnastic with their short bodysuit? Or divers who jump down a trampoline? Or maybe women in fight sport like Judo, Karate, taekwondo, or boxing? And what will they said, "look at all that harlots traveling around without parents or spouse or a male umbrella of protection" or something like "see this is what could happen if you had gone to public school" (it hasn't to be logic you know that their logic is wild compared to the rest of the word).

Ok now go wild with the guesses

Hmm interesting question. I’ve been laying on the couch for the last two days with what I think is terrible extensor tendonitis, and have been watching all of the Olympics coverage. For the women, the men’s diving has to be the most defrauding since the men only wear a Speedo and none of the unmarried women have every seen that much of a man and the ones that are married have only seen that much of their husband. For the men, I would have to go with women’s gymnastics because not only are the gymnasts in tight bodysuits, but they also dance some during the floor routines and dancing is also a big fundie no no.

I’m sure they would disapprove most of the openly gay athletes. I guess over 160 lgbtq+ athletes are competing this year. Which is a record. The Duggars would hate that.

I like your ideas @JanasTattooParlor, I can almost see the D women all being scandalized and fainting in front of all those males in just a tiny speedo costume. Can you imagine the gasps of horror? Plus those athletes have such beautiful bodies! I can't wait to watch them once again... I am almost fainting myself too now ?. The man will all watch the female gymnast by at the same time saying it was for research purposes you know, "we have to know what is on the outside to better protect our boys from those dangerous, dangerous harlots"

@JermajestyDuggar , of course, they would hate that too, but first, they will have to watch the show enough to hear something about it. I couldn't care less of who these athletes date, love, or feel attracted to I don't even think I know about the love situation about my national athlete if not for a couple because I follow them on SM or they have made national gossip for some reason

I think the men/boys would most be defrauded by the beach volleyball. It seems to have the most skin, and skin is such a defrauding organ you know.

While fun to ponder, this is really all moot because they will only watch the big broomball matches at the Olympics. Broomball... (swig)... BROOMBALL... (swig)

I'm gonna go with an outside bet and say Michelle will be most enraged by the women who have short, practical haircuts. Especially if they are in sports like boxing and weight lifting.

Going to also bet that IF they were allowing their children to watch, the most Duggar-appropriate sport would be horse events like dressage because at least there is an incredibly modest dress code in place. And also maybe the shooting/archery bc we know they love guns and again, most are dressed... Say it with me; modestly

Some of the Olympic Women are also not happy with the purposefully defrauding outfits, and the double standard. There’s no logical reason the men’s teams wear loose shorts and the women are required to wear bikinis.

I agree. I wish teams could choose to wear something more similar to men’s uniforms if they feel more comfortable in them. What about wedgies? That’s would would distract me if I had to wear bikini bottoms while playing a televised sport!

Maybe fencing as well since they have layers on.

Well I don’t know if any other Australians on here remember Matt Shirvington running in his skin tight suit. And how it was shown on slow mo many times. Very definitely not viewing for fundie maidens I think ?.

I couldn’t link the clip, but if you want to be defrauded, just google. ?

Seriously though, there are just a ton of competitions they could watch while avoiding too much skin - archery, shooting, fencing, equestrian, rowing, table tennis, basketball, baseball, cycling, skateboarding and surfing  both new this year)…there’s SO much going on even if you leave off the gymnastics, swimming and women’s volleyball.

At Christian school, most kids and some teachers only watched men’s sports at both summer and Winter Olympics. Some people avoided it all together because the Ancient Greek roots meant it was the worship of pagan gods.
Remember that fundies are constantly taught that women are “not visual”—so men’s bodies don’t attract us.

I would not call rowing, surfing  or cylcing suits modest. They are wearing skintight outfits.

I used to fence. One of the main reasons Ibtihaj Muhammad started fencing was because the uniforms met her modesty standards without alterations.  I also remember reading an article about her stating that her family was hesitant at first when she started competing at international events because she would have to shake hands with male referees and travel without a male guardian.

  • 4 weeks later...

The Duggar's would not have approved of British Diver Tom Daley, not only is he gay and has a son with his husband,  Dustin Lance Black but he was spotted knitting in the crowd at the Olympics. He said it helps him concentrate and he has even started a knitting page on Instagram.

I think even more than artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics would be verboten in fundie families. Leotards/costumes that are more mesh than fabric, exaggerated makeup, and flexibility - oh, the flexibility and leg-spreading movements required. That channel would be changed so fast, the remote would never recover.

I doubt that any of the Duggars would watch the Olympics at all. So much of the summer games is defrauding. Josh might because he already goes against what he's been taught. The Olympics would be as close as he can get to his previously demonstrated viewing material-I figure they'd pretty much view it as porn. I do know non-ATI Christians who don't watch an event such as sand volleyball because too much skin is exposed. I'm not comfortable watching sand volleyball either, because SAND. I can't imagine how uncomfortable the contestants must be diving into the sand and getting it under their bathing suits/uniforms. Whatever they wear. I hate having sand in my shoes or in my clothing. Just hate it, so sand volleyball is hard for me to watch. 😱

They could watch Equestrian, table tennis, fencing, shooting, archery and the water craft events because you only see the upper body usually.
