MJB, you keep mentioning DuckDuckGo. You know it has a far-right bias and the alt-right has been manipulating its algorithms and data void to push user to right leaning results? It's been going on for a while. You might want to look up info about the engine using a different browser.

German Requiem is one of my favorite pieces both to play and to listen to,

It's one of my favorites to sing. Although it's been a long time, and I don't think I have the breath control for it anymore!

So I was thinking about Melanie/her girls and the pants. Do you think:

A.) They just started wearing pants

B.) They've always worn pants but just starting wearing them around Teri and Steve.

C.) They've always worn them around Teri and Steve and they are usually just cropped out of the blog.

I don't think we will ever know. Steve's made posts about women following strict modesty rules for clothing. I don't believe we will know for sure unless past photos of Nathan and Melanie's family surface showing them wearing pants.  In the past, there have been photos of Nathan and Melanie's daughters wearing leggings and some have mistaken them for pants. But, I don't believe there have been any real confirmation of their (Nathan and Melanie's) girls wearing pants until now.

Then we have Chris. Chris, the one who makes me think of Don Jr. So desperate for daddy's love and praise, he toes the line and then some. His job is for his brother's business; unlike Jesse, who actually participates in the real business world, Chris is clearly there for the sake of being employed He isn't a Magento guy or ecommerce guy - he's the brother that needs a job.

ITA. However, if Chris had really wanted to be an EMT and just buried that dream, it's not too late for him to take the training and have an actual fulfilling career for the rest of his working life, not to mention social security credits, health insurance, maybe a pension. I'm a huge proponent of mid-life career changes anyway, and he doesn't even have a career, just a collection of odd jobs.

You know, I hate to say this and you guys are going to pick on me for saying it, but Steve really looks happy and engaged playing with the grandkids on the floor. I mean, my mom has never once engaged with my kids the way Teri and Steve engage, and Steve looks particularly happy.

Too bad he is such a controlling dick.

Huh. Not picking on you, but somehow I missed all those photos! I can only remember seeing pictures of him interacting with Joshua, and it's not playing, it's teaching him the value of work. Admittedly I don't follow the Maxwells religiously because I'm really not even a little bit religious. Knowing that he gets down on the floor and actually plays with the grands would make me think of him as just a tiniest bit less of a dick.

There are some from a recent photo dump where he is playing on the floor with a non-Joshua kid. His eyes are bright and he looks totally engaged. They are just playing trucks or matchbox cars. Of course Jesus is probably driving the car...

Found them! He is <gasp> playing cards with Teri and a couple of grandkids. Does he not realize that any game that involves cards is (according to my church of origin) a slippery slope that leads to playing strip poker or gambling away the family's livelihood in the dens of iniquity that people know as Las Vegas?

I am also in awe of Steve's ability to sit cross-legged that well. I need to learn his secret because I'm sure he doesn't do yoga.

Well, that's certainly was the case for my family. Start out learning cards and playing poker or Texas Hold 'em with family, then scratch tickets and lotto when turning eighteen, and twenty-one Las Vegas casino!  I'm not so sure it was slippery slope as running happily to each gambling lead by Mom and Dad.

All churches, even very conservatives ones, do not prohibit cards--esp played within the family and for no money. GAMBLING, however.....No!

Like many others apparently, I had to go back and look. Maybe the got to wear them for work? Or, maybe their Dad considers pants to be just fine. Maybe, too, their family Brand is failing so he just figured "who cares?" Now if they get to start going out to ride go-carts with a Youth Group, then I'll know seismic change has occurred.

Some of us were just born with flexible hip flexors. I've stopped wondering why other people complain about sitting cross legged or that "butterfly" stretch, it's never been a thing for me.

Guess you never met my church. Old Maid, Go Fish, strictly verboten. My parents were more liberal in that regard. We could play card games that didn't involve Actual Cards (with the hearts, spades, clubs, diamonds) Ironically, we could play Authors, but I was never allowed to read any of those books.

I am circus flexible. I did not know everyone’s  fingers did not fold backward almost completely until recently when my kid hurt her hand and I was checking the damage by wiggling her fingers forward and back and went back far - and it hurt!

I love to see all the Maxwell sons slowly breaking away from the mothership, I applaud every little step. But... I do have a huge soft spot for Chris and Anna. I feel for them. They will be the last ones to break away and I know they have (shared) horrible believes and still I can’t get over the feeling that they are warm and sweet people. They are always the couple that is celebrating a family member, and their childraising skills may seem a bit outdated but also very caring.
Chris (with John) was the rebel as a child and his hopes and dreams were crushed a lot. A failed engagement, his parents not supporting his choice of career... He works very hard to please everyone around him, and still his life has it’s struggles. I love how Annamarie pushed a very Christian lifestyle in Steves face, while still showing compassion and charity, I always felt it made him uneasy. She outshines his holiness and she’s a better writer than his daughters. But her life has it’s struggles too. I feel sorry for them.

I know I’m becoming a sentimental old fool, I get it if you throw me out...

Totally agree re: Anna Marie. From her first appearance in Maxhell, she has appeared very industrious and giving. She hosts baby showers with the nieces, hosted the post-caroling parties, the last Moody book celebration for Sarah. Early on she showed up and made all of the baking for caroling several times. She sews purses, has nieces over so they can “help” (which seemed like more of a privilege for the little girls), is appreciative of having Mary and Anna over. They have Gigi over regularly (or did, pre-COVID), she walks with her daily, and they included her in Bible memorization programming. She’s a much better Christian then the OG Maxwells.

I knew I had loose/open hip flexors because I can sit in ways others can't, plus it was noticed in yoga class (although now arthritis in one hip has overridden that flexibility, darn).

But I never knew that what I have is called "ligamentous laxity" (loose ligaments) until my foot surgeon explained that is what causes my bunions.  The ligaments in the feet don't hold the bones together as tightly as they do in others, and naturally the bones want to spread out when weight is put on them.

I now suspect the loose ligaments explain multiple other of my bodily quirks, now that I'm aware that it's thing.

My mother grew up in a small town in Mississippi in the 1950's.  She was Methodist, but the Baptists in the area viewed all card games as sinful.  She even told me a story about a festival that the town held one year, and beer was served there.  There was a member of the Baptist church who drank a beer at the event.  Someone saw him and called his minister, who went to the event to confront him about his sinful drinking.  I'm sure that was quite a sight to see.

I do recall seeing a picture of Steve holding one of the grandbabies (boy, of course) in the kitchen and he had what I can only describe as a joyful look, thrilled actually.  Too bad that doesn't translate to the rest of his life.

I think Steve is only happy when he’s in church or trying to convince someone that’s he’s right about anything.

Have we ever gone this long without a single Titus2 post? I'm seriously starting to wonder if there was a wedding yesterday. If so, my only hope is that it was Sarah...we saw how much the light went out in her eyes when the reversal boys started marrying, and I can only imagine how much more that pain would be magnified if one of her younger sisters got married before her.

It's actually become pretty normal in the past year or so, They've blamed it on Sarah's concussion but their reputation precedes them and I don't believe that. Not that I don't believe she had/has issues with a concussion; it's that as an excuse that I don't buy.

I just wrapped up this book:  The Ghost in My Brain: How a Concussion Stole My Life and How the New Science of Brain Plasticity Helped Me Get It Back.

About 80% of the book described severe concussion symptoms suffered by the author for 8 years.  It was horrifying. He finally recovered through using specific pencil and paper exercises and specially prescribed prismatic lenses.  The detail is astounding; the author, a university professor who studies the intersection of emotion and artificial intelligence, was able to journal a lot of his experience.

OK, now back to your regular programming.

New post is up! Jesse and Anna moved from their apartment to a house. It didn’t say where though.
