Bontragers/Bowers/Helferich 9: Oh Nos! Chelsey Married a Maxwell!

Part of the difference in treatment could be age - both chelsy and alison married at 27, that's 9 years of single adulthood to fill in with road trips and friendships. Neither Liz nor Rebecca are even 18 yet (are they?), it's not that surprising they aren't travelling abroad with a group of girlfriends just yet.

I wouldn’t be surprised if both Jackson and Hannie went up early as a pair to help and hang out with friends. Lincoln, Hudson, and Liz are all teens and so are Hannie and Jackson. They are probably all friends with Liz and Hannie being the closest. Tyler must’ve come up with JB and Michelle the day of the wedding. I think Jackson is also pretty good friends with the Bowers boys. He seems to like to hang out with them. That’s a lot of teens hanging out together. I wonder if Marlin disapproves of a gaggle of teens all together.

I forget when exactly the wedding was but is it also possible that the Duggar’s wanted to give their kids a break before Josh’s crimes became public? If they had some idea of what was going on or that something might be happening with Josh, maybe they wanted their kids to have a good time before the family had to descend, once again, into paparazzi hell. I’m not following the Josh threads so this is pure speculation.

I still detest the stupid white t-shirts/dickie collar things under the women’s dresses. If I have a v-neck dress like that where I think there’s a bit too much cleavage I just pin it shut with a safety pin or, if I’m being especially industrious, sew it shut. Even though they fit loads better than what the Rods wear the bright white of them just sticks out and detracts from the necklaces, and ruins the whole look.

Also, if the old adage ‘3 times a bridesmaid, never a bride’ were the slightest bit true (which it isn’t, of course) Rebecca would be doomed. How many weddings have she and Liz been in now? At least half a dozen. How tiring. But I detest weddings in general.

I have a friend who has been a bridesmaid at least a dozen times. I know she’s lost count. I’ve only been a bridesmaid 4 times and I hate being a bridesmaid. I’m glad I will probably never be one again.

Just went through the photo dump and have just one totally BEC comment: whoever took all those pictures really did a... not very good job. In half the pics someone grimaces, or the lighting or angle is odd, or there's a lens glare, or whatever. Basically, no one looks their best, so I wonder why those are the pics they chose to post.

Of course the wedding was COVID central, no masks, no distancing, indoors, as per usual. And by all means, let's invite grandma, because what could possibly go wrong? I just can't with those people...

I'm kind of glad Hannie and Jackson are still "paired". They seemed close as little kids and their talking heads were usually pretty funny. Hopefully their relationship is still strong.

There's just something about Carver Bowers' face that is very punchable... it's probably his obnoxious know-it-all Trump-loving-Capitol-raiding attitude that shines through.

Liz, who is probably the one writing the blog these days, seems to love!!!exclamation!!!marks!!! And I must agree with @Nothing if not critical that the photos were bad. Sometimes it almost looked like they used some really weird lens that distorts images. It's been the same with many recent photo posts. Maybe their phone camera (I'm assuming it's a phone) is pretty low quality.

It's actually a real miracle if there were no covid infections at the wedding! Makes my blood boil.

I agree about Carver. His smile is just a know it all smile that bugs me. You would think he would be BFFs with the other know it all, Josh Bontrager. How can anyone raise their sons to be smug little know it all’s and be happy about it?! Oh yeah, because their fathers are smug know it all’s.

Looking at Chelsy's new post about Denver and Praise's wedding, she says of the Bontrager family "We now number twenty-six with two more on the way"

I know Mrs. Allison Helferich is pregnant, but who is the other pregnant Bontrager? Is it Bryn with #2? I can't keep up.

Bryn just had a baby, didn't she? That baby can't be more than 6 months old.

How about Chelsy? She is wearing this flowy thing in the wedding pictures that perfectly hide the stomach. Maybe that was her announcement?

Joshua and Cassidy had their 2nd last April

Carson and Carolina had their 2nd last August

Mitchell and Bryn had their 2nd last December

Chelsy and John had their 2nd last June

Allison and Jeremiah are having their first soon

Denver and Praise got married in March

I’m guessing either Cassidy, Chelsy or Praise have the other baby on the way.

I think Chelsy is probably pregnant. If Praise is, I doubt she would announce this soon. If anyone else is pregnant, it’s probably Cass.

It's Chelsy. I have been predicting that Chelsy is pregnant for over a month now. She's hasn't been featured much on her parents' blog or in-laws' blog.

This is an interesting tidbit. There is a woman sitting with Chelsy, Allison and Rebecca. This woman is nameless, but there's also this about her

Quote

(fun story-this friend is actually the one who introduced my sister to her now sisters-in-law, who introduced her to their brother, and then one of them caught the eye of my brother....and hence this wedding! Awards to you if you tracked with all of that...=))

It looks like Priscilla Gerber. An unmarried fundie they’ve been friends with a long time.

I predicted pregnancies for Chelsy, Allison, Cass, and Praise in 2021.  The year is still young and I think it's going to happen for all of them (obviously for Allison), even if some go late into the year and don't get announced right away.

And this was their second (!!!!!) indoor wedding during a pandemic without a mask anywhere.

Ummmmm. Speculation? Since someone brought up both Carver and Joshua...There seems to be an extra in that picture. (Liz) Yikes. Well, and then to each his own, but I would say that’s quite rude to state that someone’s face is punchable. Even if it is. But I would go against that to say he looks more confident (and honestly, of the better looking fundies) Now Josh on the other hand can look smug. All just opinion...

The speculation bus is gaining steam at this point with Carver and Liz. He rarely posts pics of girls that don’t include her and yet there’s always someone between them, he’s started spending increasing amounts of time with the Bonts, and the Bonts defintely need him for their music ministry.

Maybe the biggest “if” is whether or not the fundie men finally start getting rounded up for their participation in the insurrection on Jan. 6th.

I won't be surprise if Liz marries Carver by her 18th birthday. I have the feeling that Bons are going to marry their 4 youngest as soon as they can. It may be the end of their music business, but in the other side, they may be willing to have a quiet house for the first time in 30 years.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I hope there are no more Bowers/Bontrager of Helferich/Bontrager weddings. Two is enough amongst families. 3 means the families are just so intertwined that it would be even more difficult for someone to get out of a marriage. Plus the families would be so intertwined that it would be easier to keep Liz in line after marriage. It’s just easier control of the females.

1.) I don’t understand how fundies want to be a girlfriend instead of a wife when a wife is the end all be all of their lives. Why would you want to be a girlfriend? That’s “less than” in their world.
2.) never speaking bad of your husband is extremely broad. Can I say my husband forgot the baby in the car? Because it’s the truth. Or should I lie? Should I say my husband is often late? Or can I not say the truth. I’m guessing wives in fundieland need to just smile and shut up when their husband makes a mistake.
3) drop anything to be with him?! Wtf?! No way. I’m not going to drop my crying baby to go be with him. I’m not going to just drop my plans with my best friend to be with him. It’s nice to make time for your husband and I recommend it. But I would never just drop whatever I’m doing to be with him.
4.) pray together daily? What if we aren’t religious?

Her marriage advice holds zero value for me. My almost 12 years of marriage would never give that kind of advice. She hasn’t been married a year. No wonder her advice is terrible.

I’m am currently single, dated the same person for five years and we lived together for three. If it was an emergency I would drop what I was doing for him. Other than that no. We knew each other’s plans in advance so it was never an issue. I don’t get how she can give any advice unless it is advice that others have given her. The honeymoon stage isn’t meant to last forever. At some point you will have a fight, disagreement, over something. At some point your spouse will say something that hurts you, maybe not on purpose but still. My dad never wanted to hurt my feelings but there were a few times he said something that did. Everyone is human.

I honestly wish I knew what was going on in that empty little head of hers. She obsesses over being single & perfect marriage. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.......

Although I am happily divorced, I was married for 13 years. During that marriage I can guarantee not one bit of her advice would have been useful. Not. One. Bit. Even when I was happily married & we liked each other.

When you've been married less than a year and have followed a recipe written by your father to get to this point, you have no place giving advice about what makes a marriage work. None.

Fundie girls really think highly of themselves. New fundie mothers too (that Sarah chick that is a Morton friend is someone I want to slap every time I happen to come across her because apparently, She. Knows. Everything. And. The. Whole. World. Is. Wrong).

Run along little girlies.

Hey Allison if you read here, I’ll give you some advice on your blog.

Stop writing marriage advice! It’s ridiculous.

Good topics for a newly married and pregnant fundie:

Cooking and recipes for two

Maternity clothing

Decorating a home that’s new to you

Date night ideas

Books you’ve been reading lately

Nursery decorating

In her world being the girlfriend meant that you pretty much needed a chaperone around you and the biggest physical connection you got was a high five... yeah.. not sounding great to me

Do I crab about my husband on the regular to anyone and everyone?  no.. B/c I am not looking for that type of negativity.  But I do have a small number of people who KNOW my love and my commitment and I theirs.. and when I need to drop a weight and vent all my momentary frustrations I know I will get the laughs, the "same girl, same" and we move on to the next topic.. b/c it i just a safe space to vent.. it is not a sign that the end is near

God, I kind of want to create a fake instagram account as a newly married & pregnant fundie, tag Allison, and then show her what to write about.

As for marriage advice:  Girl. Just tell you husband honestly what you need.  Whatever it is.  And then ask him the same and be open-minded with whatever it is.  If you are meeting one another's needs, you can skip all the "be his girlfriend" nonsense.  Wants are nice too, but needs are what makes a marriage stick.

I spotted Kindle Vella on the Amazon website late last night  and I feel like this is a concept I don’t really understand. Why would I buy a book one chapter at a time? Is there a market for purchasing books this way? Is there more to this than I noticed? I also couldn’t get it to work on my Kindle app, but that is probably user error on my part.

Is there anyone else who works who feels like because things are opening up and we have our vaccines and everything we are supposed to automatically feel better despite being in shut down mode for a 1.5 years. I mean how easy is it for other people to go about their lives, like nothing has happened this past what 16 months?  I am having a hard time with this. Baby steps but what would these be?

Random vent. I hate when random aches/pains come out of nowhere. I also hate not knowing what to do. Well, that's actually not 100% accurate. I do know, but it's hard to know when. (If that makes any sense.)
