Jinjer 56: Oh My Stars It's a Reality Show Book! How Surprising - Not

If you're not able to follow links on your device, the above link is a simple post with no pictures that says:
"We are disturbed to hear of the charges against Josh.
While this case must go through the legal system, we want to make it clear that we absolutely condemn any form of child abuse and fully support the authorities and judicial process in their pursuit of justice."

I’m weirdly proud of them for this, so quickly. It’s as close to “fuck him” as I can imagine any of them saying. And I generally loathe JinJer.

see I am just cynical enough to believe these two christian influencers were worried about books sales and their brand so they put out that statement to distance themselves

^^This. From what I’ve seen of the book so far, she praises her parents as if they are the best parents ever. Well fuck that. Because they are partly to blame. She can’t praise her parents like they are perfect and then try to distance themselves from Josh.

I think Jeremy is very concerned right now that their entire new career path is over.  I said this on another thread- I really hope he's not taking his anger out on Jinger.

As to Jinger- as a victim of incestual abuse and someone who has volunteered with survivors for years, it's not abnormal for victims to still hero-worship their parents, even if their parents knowingly refused to protect them, or perpetrated against them.

Incestual abuse involves a lot of gaslighting, and not just from the abuser.  Combine that with a religious cult that preaches misogyny, that a girl must always obey her parents, and that abuse is the fault of the victim -  I really think it's possible it would take years of intensive therapy for Jinger to start thinking and feeling for herself.

I could be so, so wrong about Jinger.  I just know what it's like to convince yourself that your family loves you and takes care of you, even when you know deep down it can't be true.   For some survivors, they have to convince themselves that their parents were right in order to mentally survive.

There is no proof that Jeremy is or has been or will be physically or emotionally abusive to Jinger. Please let's not go down this road.

That statement was almost certainly written by a publicist at the order of their publisher.

Still, my heart goes out to the Duggar sisters right now. This must be really retraumatizing.

I'm sorry, I truly didn't mean to imply domestic violence - where I'm from "taking it out on" is a much broader descriptive and not at all like that.  I meant it as I hope Jeremy, in his frustration, is not screaming and yelling in front of Jinger.

On a scale of 1-100, how pissed off is Jerm that this stole his spotlight.

Eleventy billion would be my guess.

My prediction is Jinger will remain off social media for a while but Jeremy won’t be able to resist posting- ‘hey guys, we have a book out- these Nike shoes won’t buy themselves you know’.

Looks like Jerm is back to acting like nothing happened.

Of course, they have to make the most of the added publicity...

I feel kind of icky about their "random Hollywood shopping trip" soon after the charges dropped (Link to Dailymail article with pictures; just ignore the article). Jeremy wore this intensively colourful jacket and there’s a picture of him lifting Evangeline into the air where he doesn’t even look at his daughter, but has his entire smiling face turned towards the paparazzi (or, just as likely, the photographer brought along to take "candids"). He may just as well have carried a sign saying "MY WIFE‘S BROTHER WATCHED CHILD PORN! Now that I’ve got your attention, look at me being a hands-on father with an adorable daughter! Admire me!!“

The pics I saw looked like they were taken the other day before the story broke. It had the guy with the nail polish in them and they were taken on the 25 of course I could be totally wrong and he had worn the jacket again with the same guy.

That‘s a really good point. I’ll go with the Daily Mail lying about the date of the pictures — that honestly seems more likely than JinJer going out in the same outfits with the same person twice in the span of three days or so.

I still think Jeremy is unlikeable in those pictures, as non-newsworthy as that is. ?

I go back and forth on this. Even if it was all a publicist, they released a statement against josh. Yes it was vague but these things always are. Why should they stop their lives over that creep. Even if it’s manipulation for attention. Idk.

I think I agree that there is no reason for the sibling Duggars to stop their lives because of their criminally inclined brother. But I also think that it is bad for the Duggar brand and I absolutely have no problem with that.

Oh, yeah. 100% he’s playing to the cameras. With his mask under his chin, of course. And we get a good shot of Evangeline. She’s a very cute baby, but what happened to “we’re trying to keep our kids off social media?”

That statement absolutely was written by a publicist, and was vetted by an attorney and their publisher prior to release. Jeremy may have had some input into content, but it didn’t come from his pen. All of the Duggar family statements are obviously written by publicists.

I agree...they released a statement saying they were on the side of law enforcement (because they would have been hounded for a response otherwise), and the pictures are their way of saying, “We do not associate with Josh and are not apart of his mess. This is our life here in California.” I’m sure it gets annoying to constantly be asked about brother who’s messing up his life when you weren’t even that close (speculating...Josh doesn’t seem like the sibling/Inlaw Jinger or Jeremy would text just to say “hi!”)

Same. When some siblings speak out (Jinger and Jill) and are shown living their lives it shows the divided front. Everyone who is silent may as well be announcing they are staying the Duggar line.

I bought the book so you don’t have to.

honestly, I thought having a first edition would be handy in case they decide to edit stuff out in light of recent events.

Yep, it maybe wasn’t right to give them money. I will report back here though with info from the book.

It's Launch Day for their book! Jeremy is selling again.  Makes me sick. I know all of the Duggar kids can't stop their lives because of Josh. But this seems too soon, too much, too trashy. Or maybe it's just Jeremy.

It's bizarre. The book sounds like total shit, btw. How hope shines through their life and relationship...who do they think they are? Why do they think they have a story to tell?

What's worse is if you read the free samples, it is a lot of the same stuff she already told in the book with her sisters. It's not even new boring stuff. It's old boring stuff.

Did anyone read the excerpt featured in People about how Jinger initially turned Jeremy down, and he threw a fit over it? Jeremy always gave me toxic vibes, but I’m even more disgusted by him now.

Aside from that, their book sounds utterly boring. They don’t have a story to tell, they don’t have a message to give—it’s just spiritual bypassing all the culty bs.

"a servant's heart"

"sweet fellowship"

"set our eyes on the cross"

My mother's family's farm (in northern California) was the stable touchstone of my childhood, the place we went for many holidays & most summers, if only for a week or two at a time. My mother was a travel enthusiast, my father was in the military, my younger sister & I grew up in the back of a car. Been in every state in the union except maybe North Dakota, spent three months in Europe, three months in Mexico -- all before I was a teen. I realized, as an adult, I don't actually like traveling. It makes me anxious. My mother kept traveling up until shortly before she died.

This place is much nicer when there aren’t drunk douche nozzles trying to start WWIII with my sister.

Last time I was here I brought my sister. There was a drunk douche cannon holding court here. He and my sister took mutual exeception to each other. Well he first then my sister responded.
We got out of there before he got even dumber since there’s another brewery across the street.  Drunk fucker didn’t follow us and I think some flashing lights a few minutes later were for him.

On the one hand, my mother did her best to raise my sibling & I secular & liberal/leftish, but on the other hand she regularly shipped me off to stay with her fundie farmwife mother for months at a time. I prolly spent at least a coupla years of my childhood out on that farm where my grandmother did her darnedest to convert me to all the regressive things (hilariously, all it did was push me further into the peacenik thing). I've got a lot more to say about my maternal grama, fwiw.
