@Melissa1977 I am often surprised at how many American evangelists I run into in England without trying! Some are street preachers but there’s a few trying to set up/plant churches here. I agree someone would have to bankroll the Vuolos now they have had a taste of luxury living in California.

But they could go round the country with a Ford van, preaching on market day.

The Hope We Hold is an Amazon best seller, print is number ranked  1, kindle is ranked 2 in the TV category.

I wonder if they did the schtick of buying up large quantities of their own book so that it is a "bestseller."

The big "announcement" is a virtual book signing on Tuesday. You gave to go to a site, buy the book, and they will sign it. Big whoop.

That’s it? Hardly life altering.
I’m sure part of their publicity deal is that a certain number of books are purchased to inflate its position in sales figures. They’ll be appearing in a bargain bucket in a few months time.

Jinger explains that she went with Renee for her bridal gown after Renee “reached out to her.” Is that actually true, or does she just not want to get into it being a made-for-reality-TV event that was influenced by “Say Yes To The Dress” and “Bringing Up Bates”? Had we seen Renee before that on the Bates’ show? (Jinger doesn’t mention that she probably got the gown heavily discounted or free in exchange for the publicity.)

It turns out that the reason why “Come Thou Fount” was such a big deal for them was that Jim Bob heard someone singing it while he was trying to decide if the theological differences were a deal-breaker, and he took it as a sign. (Don’t ask me to explain the theology involved.)

The Vuolos are in a predicament. Despite Jeremy’s lofty aspirations they don’t really have an established income that can finance the sort of lifestyle they appear to crave.

What part of "Breakout Stars" do you not understand?????

Renee ‘reached out’ and offered a freebie in return for the publicity I expect.

For those of you that have read the book - do either of the  deal with the proposal when we saw the letters on the ground that showed it was clearly staged? I wondered if they did a Harry and Meghan and said they got engaged privately first?

OMG, guys, this excerpt from the book on Jeremy's insta is killing me - could he be more pretentious if he tried? 🤣🤣🤣

Does Jeremy play any musical instruments? We often see Jinger playing the piano. With his ego, I’d have thought he’d be playing Beethoven by ear.

Jeremy narrates that section and he says “James would take photos and TLC cameras would roll as I dropped to one knee.” It wasn’t exactly staged in that it was a surprise for Jinger. It sounds like she’s very easy to surprise (maybe to the point of cluelessness). Jeremy said she has “an unsuspecting heart.”

Did we know that the guests threw coffee beans instead of rice at their wedding?

"An unsuspecting heart"! That's up there with 'joyfully available' in the euphemism stakes for me 😆

Jinger must have a very unsuspecting heart if after a decade being part of staged events for a TV show (car flipping anyone?) that relies on courtships, engagements, weddings and babies, she saw their initials painted on the floor and didn’t think something was about to occur.

Oh my god, I’m dying at this. How special does he think he is?! I’m pretty sure the average American could hum more Beethoven than they think they could. Between commercials, movies, tv shows, etc. we’re exposed to a lot of classical music whether we listen to it exclusively or not (speaking from personal experience). I’d definitely be more impressed if he could play an instrument.

Ouch! That sounds potentially painful.

Jeremy, I also grew up in a home that loved classical music. I studied classical music in college and took many drop the needle listening tests.  Learning to differentiate composers’ styles isn’t that hard, nor is a love of classical music morally superior to liking country or show tunes (many of my college classmates thought it was, but we all got over it). Stop being so full of yourself.

I picture gracefully dressed ladies trying to navigate walking in high heels on the coffee beans without looking awkward.

Growing up, my mom played the piano at church and my great grandma played the organ at church. And I went to church each Sunday. I grew up around lots and lots of church music.

Guess whose a dirty heathen agnostic? It obviously didn’t stick. And I suck at playing the piano too. Just because you grow up around classical music doesn’t make you some sort of aficionado.

@Lurker Good for them, I guess? I wonder how many sales are fans vs those who are looking for scandal dirt vs those who want to snark. Not that it matters to J&J, sales are sales which equal cha-ching.

First round of info about this boring book. I don’t feel like there’s anything special in it

Spoiler

Intro

“Plenty of disagreements, never a fight”

Hope is in Christ. Doesn’t mean they are protected from trials, they will endure them but “we can be confident that our trials aren’t for nothing”

Claims they will be getting vulnerable in the book

Going with the flow

Jinger

Lots of questions from strangers growing up, apparently “every baby was greeted with same squeals of excitement whether it was baby 9 or 19”

Lots of kids didn’t seem strange to her as all her family friends had big families. She was “happy in our home”

She claims she was the family peacemaker, she wanted to please mom and dad

One on one time with parents typically meant a trip to the bank with Meech or going to work with JB

Once, meech went out of town to speak. She filled freezer with freezer meals and had instructions for them. JB served cold undrained veggies and BBQ tuna. Everyone apparently loved the bbq tuna and jb was proud

When on the state legislature, family rented house in Little Rock and sometimes JB would take 1-2 kids with him

Pastors son

Jeremy was saved at 5 years old

At 8, Jeremy tried out for a travel soccer team. He made the B team

Jeremys parents wouldn’t let him play soccer on Sundays because church

Jeremy questioned his faith as a teenager, he threw a party at his house with his soccer friends with beer and girls right before he was 16. They were gonna let him go to public school for his junior year. Senior year they let him. He partied his senior year and in college up until his arrest.  There are some details about his arrest, he saw someone he knew from church while getting arrested and it made him realize he wasn’t living for Christ. So he sent an email to his entire campus saying he is a Christian

Right? Him emailing his entire school to say he is a Christian is the most Jeremy thing I’ve read in this book

Yes at the moment Jeremy is the gift that keeps giving. His pomposity is comedy gold.

I spotted Kindle Vella on the Amazon website late last night  and I feel like this is a concept I don’t really understand. Why would I buy a book one chapter at a time? Is there a market for purchasing books this way? Is there more to this than I noticed? I also couldn’t get it to work on my Kindle app, but that is probably user error on my part.

FB friend who was my tour director went to Spain had this map up of the new tour they're doing in Spain now.
I think you can all guess what caught my attention right away.

And as I am an FJ denizen the gutter my mind went into almost immediately.
And now actually I'm a bit curious about the place too.

I’ve had to evacuate due to all the aggressive wildfires,  Mr Kool is evacuated to the hospital because of his non mobility, hopefully they find him a bed in the local care home.  Fire sucks.

Is there anyone else who works who feels like because things are opening up and we have our vaccines and everything we are supposed to automatically feel better despite being in shut down mode for a 1.5 years. I mean how easy is it for other people to go about their lives, like nothing has happened this past what 16 months?  I am having a hard time with this. Baby steps but what would these be?

Random vent. I hate when random aches/pains come out of nowhere. I also hate not knowing what to do. Well, that's actually not 100% accurate. I do know, but it's hard to know when. (If that makes any sense.)
Have a good weekend, kids. ✌️
Picture included for something cool to look at.
