Duggars by the Dozen 41: Marrying off the Kidults at the Speed of Light

Charissa Wissmann posted a video of her siblings on a Silver dollar City roller coaster. No Duggars sitting with them. But that’s no surprise. She knows not to post any pictures of the Duggars. They wouldn’t drive that far to NOT see the Duggars if there are two courtships.

The way JB & M hid after the 2015 scandal may be cowardly, but I see nothing wrong with protecting the minor children from the circus. Shame they were also feeding them lies about how it's perfectly normal and common to molest your sisters all the while.

I really hope no member of the public would say anything to the children- they are going to find this difficult enough.

Ok Hannah might be the only one missing from the group in Branson. I say this because she posted a pic with the Florida Wissmanns. If she is the only one in Florida and everyone else went to Silver Dollar City, it makes me wonder about a possible broken courtship. It would get very awkward if Jana married Steven and Hannah and Jer broke up.

It's going to rain basically all weekend in my part of MO. Just looked up Branson and it also looks like rain and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. It's always a bit odd to me that the Duggs go to Silver Dollar City all the time but never seem to go to the Branson Landing. Could be a cute spot to do a proposal, although my read on Jana is that she'd prefer something private.

I would want something more private too with alll the media attention around the family at the moment. I think JB will want any future news worthy moment captured and controlled to be viewed in the best light to the public and for the best price. Not some grainy spectator phone video of "Accused  Peodophile Josh Duggar's 30 year old virgin sister surprise proprosal uncovered" sold by some random to TMZ

They’ve never protected minor children before (4 minor daughters molested), and clearly haven’t changed their ways, so connecting the dots I highly doubt leaving at night had anything to do with protecting minor children-

Nice thought, but not applicable to JB and his Neck-

Sorry, I meant in theory it would be the right move. But if they ever spared a thought for their kids besides the number of them, I'd be surprised.

Are they posting to deflect attention from Stephen possibly meeting up with Jana? @AussieKrissy Stephen Wissman is Jana's rumored beau. There was thought that Hannah was getting to know the male twin that did not get married. Maybe she is in a different place  because she never was with him or oooh trying to throw excellent sleuths like @JermajestyDuggar off the trail by diverting attention from where Stephen is.

I saw that. It’s so weird that when everyone else is going to silver dollar city that she flew down to Florida to see Drew and then flew to West Virginia to see Beth.

There are 7 single Wissmanns still living at home. Hannah is the only one to not got to SDC with the rest.

If things are over between Jer and Hannah I hope it’s because they decided they weren’t right for each other and not because of the fallout from Josh’s crimes. Same would go for Jana/Stephen. I wonder if @Marionette has any idea.

No clue. Haven’t heard anything through the grapevine other than stuff here and there surrounding Josh’s arrest (and none of that is anything new/that hasn’t been discussed on the other thread).

I'm hoping Jana and Stephen are still together.  She's not going to leave the fundie life and I feel like they would be a good match.  Having a home of her own seems like it would be healthier than staying in the Duggar compound.  I hope Josh's siblings don't suffer anymore from his actions than they already have.

If she (or anyone) isn't going to leave the fundy life isn't it better for them to remain single than marry and possibly bring more innocent children into the cult?

For the world in general, yes.  Bringing more people into the cult is definitely not a good thing but Jana's spent her entire life raising her siblings and taking care of her parents home.  Maybe she's happy.  I don't know.  Should I care about what might make a random fundie's life better?  Probably not. I just despise how JB and Michelle have used their children and I'd like to see at least some of the kids live in a healthier household even though I completely hate their belief system.  If she stays in the Duggar household then she's going to end up raising Anna's kids too and that's not fair for anyone. Obviously a lot of people will disagree with me and that's fine.  Just my two cents.

You posted this on another thread:

There are still people on FJ talking about Jana and the Wiseman guy right now, even to the point of talking about their SM and who is in Branson, which ones may be courting, etc.

Yes, I am still talking about Jana and the Wissmann guy.  This is a thread about marrying the Duggars off and discussing potential relationships. I've seen these kids since the first special 15 or so years ago.  I am still curious about their lives.  This forum was created because we're curious.  It doesn't mean that we agree with their beliefs.

I think that household has to be pretty toxic right now because I doubt JB and Michelle will allow anyone to disagree with them about Josh. If Jana gets out of the main Duggar household, she can probably express her opinion of Josh a little more openly. I can see JB really clamping down on some things at home and I feel sorry for all of the kids still living there.

I want to add that it’s even stranger that Hannah Wissmann isn’t there since Mathias’s family and Rachel’s family all joined them in Branson.

I wasn't taking a shot at people discussing them, I was pointing out to that poster that the interest is still there even here.  I am familiar with the creation and purpose of the forum :)

People can wish happiness on whatever strangers they want, I just find it curious that people put the happiness of a fundy adult over the future of an innocent child being brought into a crippling dynamic.

I say the same when I see people hope Michaela Bates has a baby because she wants one so badly.  I'd rather she not get what she wants rather than another baby born into this cult.

I am sure it's an emotionally difficult time for all the Duggars right now, those that are capable of human emotion, anyway.  I hope the kids who don't deserve that find some peace and comfort right now.  But any potential babies born into this cult don't deserve the life time of emotional difficulties any more than the current batch does...I personally can't celebrate anything that sets kids up for blanket training and a life time of repression and shame.

But here’s my issue. It’s not 100% fact that a marriage will result in a bunch of blanket trained babies. Example: Jill Duggar was a perfectly submissive golden child before she got married. She didn’t rebel until AFTER she got out of the Duggar home and was married. That’s when she started thinking differently. At home, she had 0% chance of thinking differently because JB and Michelle would have put an end to it immediately. Jana at home has 0% chance of thinking for herself. JB makes sure of that in my opinion. Jana living a few states away in Nebraska with a fundie husband? Maybe 10% chance of straying from the beliefs forced on her by JB. I’m just throwing that 10% out as a guess because Steven Wissmann has always been a rather quiet Wissmann and I can’t get a great read on his personality. But she has to have a better chance of opening her mind a bit when she is away from the Duggar borg. Even if it’s a small chance of branching out, it’s at least a chance. She has no chance at home.

She's not Joy at 18 - she's over 30 and is still drinking the Kool-Aid publicly.  I know how hard it is to break out and brainwashing, but at some point adults are responsible for their life choices and she's past that point.

If she wants to remain fundy she can.  My opinion certainly won't change anything, I'm just saying I think it's weird to hope for more babies into the cult, and weirder when that's in any way a controversial opinion.  Clearly mileage varies a lot on this.

She could have infertility like Michael and have zero babies. Or she could remember her younger siblings being blanket trained and decide not to do it. Marriage is not a guarantee to a bunch of fundie babies beaten and growing up exactly like their parents. Honestly I would say that now the Duggar empire is falling thanks to Josh, more of these Duggar kids and Duggar grandkids will leave the cult of JB behind. People stay in cults and don’t question when everything in the cult is good. Things are not good in the cult. Not at all.

Plus I think we’ve all said time and time again on FJ that if one kid rebels, it makes it easier for others to follow. Jill has paved the way and I think a few will follow.

First of all if I were JB and Michelle, I would try to make people say as little as possible about Josh especially to the minor children living in their house.

I also hope Jana wants to get married if she is going to get married. I think the pressure for her to get married is enormous.

As children born in the cult, I agree it's sad so many of them are born in the cult. Jill Dillard gets a lot of credit for moving away from her beliefs.  Some of that is definitely deserved, but she is still practicing a lot of her beliefs, even when it comes to child raising.  Part of the problem is there is a lot of overlap between fundie, fundie-lite, and mainstream religious conservative.

When Warren Jeffs was arrested and sentenced to a long prison term, a lot of his followers left. But there were some that doubled down really hard. I imagine that’s how it will be within the Duggar family. Some will be more like Jill while others will double down (most likely Anna). When the Duggars had their show, their big house, their many trips all around the world, and plenty of food in the giant pantry, no one would be leaving the cult. Their lives are different now that Josh is all over the news for child pornography. I don’t think we can say with any kind of certainty that each and every child besides Jill will tow the family line and live exactly as they were raised. It’s all up in the air at this point.

I still can not believe that a 31 YO woman complies, seemingly unquestioningly, with JB’s BS. Has to be brainwashing, right?
