Counting On Season 11: How Low Can They Go?

Does anyone know how much money you get for doing a promotion like that? I imagine it would depend on your number of followers, but would it be solely a commission on the people using your code, or do you think they get paid for doing it as well? (Sorry, have no idea how Instagram is monetized).

Josh Duggar Child Pornography Charges, Trial: Everything We Know (usmagazine.com) Sorry I don't seem to be able to link the exact article, but the US article written yesterday June 29, 2021 said "Documents obtained by Us in June 2021 confirmed that a judge signed off on Josh's request to move the trial date back — but only by four months. Pretrial proceedings were rescheduled to November 18, 2021, with the trial beginning on November 30." There was no mention of the show being cancelled in the article yesterday, so my guess is the decision to postpose the trial was made first. Emily D Baker said on her youtube channel that Duggar's request to delay the trial so the defense could have their experts review the evidence was common, and she figured it would be granted.

Despite this, there is evidence to suggest Smuggar knew exactly what he was doing as he installed software to bypass his wife being alerted to his 'activities'. I feel that no matter how much time has passes, that software installation could be proof enough to find him guilty.

Also, considering his past and his family's media presence, how would he even get a fair trial?

I've long been surprised that no Duggar guys have trained to become licensed plumbers, electricians,  auto mechanics or HVAC techs.

I think they have certain skills but they aren't likely to attend any type of trade school, college classes, or apprenticeship. They are taught to be self-sufficient IF they can learn from another like-minded man, online, or at home.  They aren't likely to do it if learning a skill or trade involves going outside and being exposed to people who don't have the same beliefs. Remember Erin making a comment years ago about sitting next to someone at college with blue hair? They aren't comfortable with "different" and to them different pretty much equates to bad or wrong. I'm surprised some of the boys were allowed to become pilots but I think it was a huge benefit to Jim Bob. They boys don't need to become actual electricians, mechanics, or plumbers to work on their own properties. They did need to get a real pilot's license in order to fly so that was okay. It is also more individualized so less exposure to those who don't have the same beliefs.

I think Justin has the best chance of success as he is working for Spivey construction so may get to obtain some sort of qualification as they appear to be a proper firm not a bodge job like the Duggars, plus he is living well away from the parents. I’m sure Hilary Spivey had dreams of her daughter being on TV but I doubt the couple themselves are that bothered.

And with any luck, the Spiveys might convince them to wait awhile on kids. It's a long shot in that culture, but they do have *only* six kids with some decent gaps.

Jesus, the fact that I can use only and six kids in the same sentence.

Some beauty youtubers have talked about this and it varies. A lot depends on the size of the account - people with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers are paid more  and it also depends on your negotiating skills in creating a lucrative contract. However, given the size of their accounts they are probably making enough for a good side job. If they want to make this their main income stream they are going to have to be much more organized and proactive about building their following which will mean more posts more investment into their camera equipment/editing software etc and more interaction which will take its own toll. Lots of these sorts of people seem to get really burnt out after a while.

Derick has got to be feeling quite smug right now and I suspect Jeremy congratulates himself with handling it perfectly. While Jinger is popular with her fan base, it’s going to be hard work sustaining the level of income for the lifestyle they want when they cannot make reference to a cancelled show. While I am not a big fan of the Dillards, they have at least secured a family home and an income stream that doesn’t depend on being a Duggar.

One of the first things I thought of when I heard of the cancellation was that Derick is likely very, very glad that 1) he and Jill jumped off the gravy train 2) got JB to cough up money and 3) can make their own way outside the Duggar borg.  The entire family can crash and burn but they will be OK.   Jeremy and Jinger are still too tied to the Duggar fame and that's going to be a problem.

Derrick may be an ass, but with the accountant and law degrees, he’s extremely employable. Neither career is an instant path to riches, and both involve long hours, but between the two, the Dillards should be able to live a comfortable lifestyle.

Austin and Joy also seem to be living independently of the TV income and keeping their lifestyle modest. Austin has marketable skills, even if the house flipping market goes south. They should come out okay (well, except for the toxic beliefs).

If only some of the other Duggar children and in-laws would consider similar paths.

Edit: apparently I’m now a Degreed Law Professional! As an actual degreed law professional, I appreciate this rank!

I suspect, due to Jeremy's very well crafted statement about the cancellation, that Jeremy and Jinger already have a deal for a new series to take over after Counting On.

It would be very interesting indeed if a new series involving those 2 is announced sometime down the line.   While it seems to me that TLC wouldn't touch any of the Duggar family with a ten foot pole, especially now, they did manage to do it once before so it wouldn't surprise me if there is some follow-up series.    How well it succeeds / public blowback, now that could be a different story.

What, pray tell, would a marketable show about Jer and Jinger be about? Seriously, they are not unique, interesting or skilled at anything. I’m not being cute or draft here, but why would any media network pay the Vuolos  to produce anything? I just at can’t imagine them being employable in the media world. I could see Jeremy being employed in retail. Perhaps at a men’s clothing store. Jinger might be good as a Starbucks barista-

@SassyPants I totally agree- what Jeremy imagines to be the fascinating tale of a washed up soccer player turned theological scholar, littered with outfits, fountain pens and coffee would be so dull to the average viewer. The humpers who squeal over them on Instagram couldn’t sustain a show. Their book showed they are not prepared to dish the dirt.

I can see them trying to make celebrity friends and selling stories to magazines to keep in the public eye. I think the statement was carefully worded because they want TLC to know they are ready and available.

After the dust settles on the Josh affair and he’s safely doing time, TLC may do a ‘where are they now’ special.

That's a nice thought. It could take years, because part of that "dust settling" is that they have to come to some understanding with Jill and Derick. That is, Jimbob and Michelle need to, and TLC need to. Even if they do a small Skype/Zoom update from their home in Canada where Derick is practicing law......Okay, that part is my own pipe dream, lol. But maybe North Dakota; it's close enough to the border and no immigration issues.......But it'd have to include short updates on everyone to pack it into an hour. If it were 2 hours or more they'd need a TOTAL Q & A with ALL the questions we've ever wanted to know. And if they cry because they're grieving Bill Gothard, so be it.

Nobody would watch Jinger and Jeremy. They aren’t special.

Don't underestimate fundies. Got to remember the majority of most fundies have LARGE families. If they come from media strict backgrounds, then that means the Duggar shows were probably family approved to watch. I know quite a few who grew up watching their show and would have not problem boosting ratings if a spinoff were to happen. Thousands of conservative families, means thousands of people are watching.

I agree. Unless they start having upmteen kids. But even that's been done. People are interested in the kids because they grew up Duggar, but whatever Jing&Jer are trying to get off the ground is just blah. They have their followers, but what is their thing? That they have hope? And drink coffee? and Jinger used to be in a cult?

I don’t see how they can have a spin off unless they first address Josh. Addressing Josh is messy because the family very much sugar coated him molesting his siblings. The only way to move forward would be to toss him and their family belief system under the bus.

I can see JinJer getting a webseries or something small on Discovery plus but not a full blown show. More like a check in on these former reality stars and what they are doing now sorta deal.

I listened to the first three “episodes” of I Pray You Put This Journal Away on YouTube today (I work from home & it’s a slow week because of the upcoming holiday.) Justin, the narrator, was friends with the Dugglets back when all of this started. The guy is legit, he did an AMA on Reddit. Anyhow, Kayleigh Holt Tull commented on the first episode, which adds to his being legit. Did she leave the cult? From the comment she left, it sounds like she isn’t buying all the crazy anymore. She said (paraphrasing here)… We kids never got to talk about our feelings or hurts. The parents controlled all the feelings about our relationships, it was a shame culture that used scripture to control….”

I was blown away by that one. I wonder if Kayleigh is thanking her lucky stars she didn’t end up with SP? She dodged a bullet there.

TLC has turned into a channel of dumpster fire drama. There is not enough over the top drama for JinJer to ever get a show. Maybe on UP they could get a show. But TLC is like The Jerry Springer show. Have y’all seen the shows they play now? It’s mostly trash tv.

Maybe Justin could be featured in a mini-series called "Becoming UnDuggar"?

Better yet, Jill and Derrick could do it. I can only imagine JB's reaction if TLC or another TV station gives them a mini series about breaking free from some the fundie cult norms she grew up with like going to see a real therapist, sending her kids to public school, and celebrating Halloween. I can just see JB's face now if that happened tomorrow knowing that he won't be able to collect any form of payment from this show.

TLC needs to get their act together. So many of their shows end up embroiled in controversy because a cast member or crew member gets busted with abuse of some sort. 19KaC, Counting On, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Little People Big World, the list just keeps going on and on. How many more TLC shows featuring families will end up with child abuse controversies like this?
