Guys I had forgotten all about the boring maxwells for a year but have any of the girls married? That’s all I’m interested in and I read the last 3 pages and nothing mentioned.  Thanks!

Nope. No marriages since Jesse last year.

In the first picture - that Sarah is in but didn't take - John is there, but his family is not. Must have been taken while Chelsy went to visit her family in Iowa - for whatever wedding was taking place?

Yes, Noah Hale and Abby Evans' wedding.

What I find interesting is that they actually say, "The others were out of town for various reasons": possibly because of Chelsy's absence, breaking up a family unit. Jesse and Anna and Joe and Elissa aren't there either, and sometimes no reason is given for their absence from a Sunday picture. It's a good reminder that we only see what the Maxwells want us to see on their blog and it's not a complete picture of their life.

I am pretty sure Jesse & Anna were at the wedding also - I swear it is them in the background of the Bontrager picture.

But, if the Maxwells say anyone went to a wedding, but not everyone, it would imply that there are friends outside the family unit and that's not part of Steve's plan. All friends are family friends, not individual. No individuality at all, ever.

We know some Hales are friends with the Maxwells. I thought a Hale was in a Maxwell wedding as a groomsman. And I thought Chris took wedding pictures for a Hale wedding in the past. There are a lot of Hales so I honestly can’t keep track of all the names.

The Maxwells were friends with the Buckinghams, and became friends with the Hales when the Buckinghams adopted the majority of Hales. Christopher Maxwell has taken a lot of photos of Buckingham and Hale weddings. I thought that one was a groomsman as well, but I might just be mixing it up with the frequency of hale/Buckingham/maxwell wedding photos that are all interchangeable.

I'm actually pretty curious as to how the Buckinghams met the Hales, and how the Maxwells met the Buckinghams. I can see Steve and Jim being friendly, but I can't see Steve and Papa Pilgrim getting along.

The Maxwells are so weird about that. There are a ton of Bontragers, Hales, Buckinghams, and Maxwells. Just because one or more doesnt attend a wedding, it doesnt mean that the family unit is somehow broken. The more people you have to schedule to show up, the more likely someone has a conflict. I guess in fundie world, there is never a vacation or a job or a soccer game or the finale of Lost to attend to. Just weddings and bland food.

The Buckinghams met the Hales because they lived near each other in Alaska, and the Hales' photo was in the paper, which lead to someone commenting that the two families looked similar (fortunately, other than also being fundie and having lots of kids, that's where the similarities ended).

I think the Maxwells met the Buckinghams through the military links of Jim and Steve - I think the Buckinghams might have been based at Fort Leavenworth in the past, but they also lived in Florida previously (as did the Maxwells) so their paths might have crossed there.

I doubt that Steve would have ever met Papa Pilgrim.

They did not live that close to each other, which is why I am curious. McCarthy is about a 5-6 hour drive, in the summer, from the Buckinghams homestead. And that's the town, not the property they lived on. The former mining town of Kennicott is 4 miles from McCarty, then the ranch they lived on is tucked back in the remote camps, up a mountain/hill and inaccessible by car/truck.

I assumed it was a military connection, but I'd like to know more because I am very nosy.

More here:

Quote

In purchasing Hillbilly Heaven, Hale had saddled himself with substantial debt. So, beginning in 2003, he allowed Joseph, Joshua, David, and Moses to work for a hunting guide several hours north of McCarthy.

Free from their father’s control, his oldest sons began violating his prohibition against attending church with other families. At one service, they met Jim Buckingham, a born-again former U.S. Army officer from Palmer, Alaska, who introduced them to his nine children. Friendships quickly developed, and in the summer of 2004 the Hale family went to Palmer to meet the Buckinghams.

Looking through the archived Tits2 site, the Buckingham parents contributed to the Maxwell newsletter during the time the Maxwells were still running a homeschooling group and attending a regular church, so I would say they met through one of those two ways, probably in the early-mid 90s before the Buckinghams moved to Alaska.

Judging by Teri’s responses to questions, she and Steve are likely not getting the COVID vax.

I'm not sure. i think she is purposefully being vague. They know a lot of their customers are against it and they want to ensure those people stay customers. I believe she is acting like a politician here and not giving an answer on purpose.

Sarah and I were both born in 1982. I bought my first car in 1998. I had been working since 15 (babysat and paper route starting at 11) and saved up for a cheap old car that got me around town. It makes me sad that she never had a new car, but I really hope she finds some much needed freedom in this car.

It’s mind boggling that Sarah is roughly the same age as me, yet still living at home with her parents, waiting for “the one”, all while I went university, lived abroad in different countries, had several long term relationships, met my husband, traveled the world with him, lived together with him, have been working as a lawyer for almost a decade, got married, and have a child. Even being an evil, educated heathen career woman I’ve actually “caught up” (in terms of being married and raising a child) with these women who were raised to be nothing but SAHMs, but are still at home under their dad’s umbrella, spending their lives waiting.

The Maxwells are friends somewhat of the Duggar’s aren’t they? I know we would never hear from the Maxwells on the subject but I do wonder what the heck they’re thinking about the latest!

Yes, they are friends. They often attend the weddings of one another’s children. I also wonder the kind of mental gymnastics that is going on in Steve’s head. I wonder how many friends the Duggars will lose.

Yes.  They have attended some Duggar weddings, JillDer's and Benessa's I believe.  Boobchelle and JD attended John and Chelsy's wedding although I wonder if they were more Bontrager guests than Maxwell ones.  Teri attended Josiah's wedding, and JB promoted Buying a House Debt Free.

I saved some screenshots for posterity.

No gymnastics for Steve or for just about any other fundie. For such situations the "No true Scotsman" logical fallacy always applies.  No true Christian could have done what Josh did, therefore he wasn't a true Christian.

I totally agree with that part of it. However I do wonder what kind of gymnastics are going on about JB and Michelle. Their friends with similar views on how to raise children. Fundies tend to be strong believers that they have major influence on their children and they are raising those children in the very best most godly way. Even when Josh was at home and underage, he had very little exposure to the evil mainstream world. Yet he was molesting his sisters. So they can’t blame the outside world on his actions at 14. I bet they can blame the evil mainstream world on his actions as an adult. But if Michelle and JB raised him the right way, why has he be doing this as a teen and adult? How can you raise your children so perfectly and still end up with a child that was never a real Christian?

I am probably giving Steve too much credit. He likely doesn’t think that deeply.

Had any of the girls gotten married, FJ would have imploded. The second Big Bang...yes, I realize the double entendre. There is zero chance you would not have known.

I think Steve will blame JB and Michelle for letting Josh use an unsupervised computer. Especially when he was living on the compound. I think, not 100 percent sure, that he was addicted to porn when he lived at home. Steve will blame Anna for not monitoring the internet. Terri and Anna monitor the internet at the Maxwell’s. He will also blame Josh for not being a better Christian.

Teri monitors the internet with that creepy software they have. Steve is Teri's accountability partner.  I don't Anna does anything to monitor the internet. On the other hand, supposedly the husbands and wives all use the software and are each other's internet accountability partner.

Bingo! Expect another post on tits2 soon about how important it is to implement accountability on all your internet devices and what software they think is best. Although it wouldn't surprise me if the Smuggar household was already so protected. Which might explain why he would have used the computers at is place of work to browse porn sites.

Why would she answer something that she hasn’t been asked? I looked again at the most recent post and I don’t see anyone questioning where the Maxes stand on vaccines, and for the most part, those commenting about it seem fairly positive about it. I think if Steve and Teri were anti-vax, they’d have no problem smugly proclaiming it like they always do, just to make sure we know they’re better than anyone else.

Sorry, I am assuming she has been asked and that it didn't get published. I know I shouldn't assume something....but...I figured someone had to ask

Sad to say Abby seems to have gulped down the Kool-aid.

She wrote a paragraph about a "classic short story" (Steve's words) and reported, while it was entertaining, it taught her nothing and she was no wiser from having read it.

Yeah, reading for entertainment has no value in Maxworld. ☹️   No reading just for the shear joy of it.  I'd have gone crazy living there.

Wonder what the short story was?
