Random life is just that: random pictures to give you a glimpse into the Maxwell family.

I bet she doesn't use a random number generator :P

My niece put a couple of those food catchers on her baby registry. To be honest, I'd never seen them before Maxhell - no babies I've been associated with have ever had them. I asked her why she wants them - it was easy to ask an invasive question like that because I am helping plan her baby shower and one of the games is guessing the wrapped baby item, so I've been asking a lot of questions about stuff on her registry (just to say I don't typically ask questions like this of my family & the choices they make).

She said she heard they're good for the food introduction period. Like, when baby is learning to use their own hands to eat & drink.

That made sense - a bit more sturdy & with the little part on the bottom to "catch" stuff.

But....in Maxhell, those kids are well past the food introduction stage. Why the hell do they need to wear those things, still?

I didn't know those bibs were used to catch the food.  My youngest is 26.  The first time I saw those bibs was when he was a baby.  Hadn't seen them when my other ones were little, so I figured that they had just come out with them.  I was pretty excited when I bought it because I thought they were used to put the food in.  I would dump cherrios, strawberries, bananas, etc, and my son was able to feed himself in the stroller while we were out and about.  It kept him occupied so I could have some peace while out.  My ex husband was actually the one who spotted the bib first in the store and thought it was the best invention next to sliced bread.  Whenever we all went out together, he'd say "Bring the bib!"  It did make things more peaceful to have the little one fed at his own pace and freed us up not to have to tend to him fussing about being hungry or bored.  Maybe we were using it wrong-I have no idea.  But "catching food" didn't even enter our minds.  We put food in it.

OMG, Sarah bought her own car! Her OWN car!

I feel like this is a huge step. I also feel like I have no idea where she would even go.

Like, apart from that one trip to check out another town that one time, has she ever been anywhere all by herself?

She also mentions that she is all better and feels like herself again which is very nice to hear.

@MamaJunebug,  I think this is the entire film on YouTube and it is free!

The Three Lives of Thomasina

I was always disappointed that they never screened Thomasina when TCM showed Treasures from the Disney Vault .

Wow, I haven’t thought of that movie in ages. My grandfather took me to see it at Radio City. Disney’s Babes in Toyland was another one. We always made a day of it. Went out for lunch, then to the movie, complete with the Rockettes. And soft pretzels from the street cart that A. Didn’t smell like chestnuts and 2. Were actually soft, not like they are now.

I’m glad Sarah’s feeling better and congrats on getting her own car. I hope this means she has more places to go, not just to the next town for a coffee so she can research her next literary masterpiece.

It's good that Sarah's feeling better, but I don't understand why walking 100 miles over the span of a few months is that impressive.  I'm not an athlete, but my chosen daily exercise is walking.  I purposely walk five miles per day on my treadmill and usually log another 2 or 3 at work every day.

Same. If you only walk 3 miles (less than 7,000 steps!) a day, you will hit 100 miles in 33 days!

Now the challenge I want to do this year--my SIL has done it--is the 50,000 steps day.

While I am glad Sarah is feeling better that post made me a bit sad.  39 years old and she's finally getting her first car?  I kind of assumed she had her own car, silly me..  I bought my first car when I was 19, course I had to take out an ebil loan out but I did have a down payment for it and having little to no credit history my dad had to co sign for the loan.  From age 16-19 I had a clunker that was passed down to me from an older sibling and by the end of my freshman year of college bit the dust.

I wonder if Sarah will have to chauffeur Anna and Mary around or let them borrow her car, do they even have drivers licenses?  I bet the real reason she got the car was to chauffeur some of the Maxgrands to Grandma's picnic, Maxwell family outings like the zoo, safari etc.

I wonder if it will be laid onto her heart to name the car? Uriah-Marie could be an option.

Sarah and I were both born in 1982. I bought my first car in 1998. I had been working since 15 (babysat and paper route starting at 11) and saved up for a cheap old car that got me around town. It makes me sad that she never had a new car, but I really hope she finds some much needed freedom in this car.

@theologygeek,  my oldest turned 40 last September and, IIRC, those food catcher bibs were in the Mothercare catalog that year.  I didn't have one and my girls just wore regular bibs for the most part although we did have one that was more like a painter's smock with arm holes and a snap at the back which covered the entire front of their shirt.  We have a sweet picture of our oldest as a toddler eating some batter off the mixing spoon.

I think what you and your husband did with those bibs was genius!

Glad Sarah's feeling better, and glad her doctor recommended a concussion specialist.

Yeah, I also assumed Sarah had her own vehicle before this.  I had thought, like a lot of us here, that Sarah got out and did much more than what they show on the blog.  Now I'm wondering if that's true, considering she had to share a car with at least two other people (and maybe Anna and Mary, too).

It's a nice looking car and I hope she enjoys it.

A 40 year-old woman gets to turn 16 at last. I'm happy for her. May it lead to a home of her own.

She had a driver's license. Not everyone can afford a car at 16, and not all parents can afford to buy their kids a car. Some people wait until later to get a car. Depending on the state, you can't get a license on 16th birthday.

She's also 39.

Wow, I think that might kill me. Since I've worn a step tracker even on Walt Disney World days I have never gotten that many. It's usually somewhere between 25,000 and 30,000 steps for me on a normal day visiting Walt Disney World.

I need to start walking more, clearly.

I'm glad Sarah got a car and hope that she got to choose it and it's color herself.

I also hope one day she packs a bunch of stuff in her car, yells "I'll be back later!" and takes off on a solo road trip and has an amazing time.

LOL

How did Sarah save up for the car -- money she earns from the Moody books?

I always assumed that any money she earned went directly to Stevehovah. Because really why would Sarah need $$ (using Stevehovah logic)  -- she lives under his authority; she's not saving for her own house, she doesn't go anywhere.

I also think Stevehovah would be more than happy to take take what Sarah makes as his right and privilege because in his mind he's King of All He Surveys.

I do love that the car is red.  It looks ....... dare I say .......fun.

Sarah if you ever read here, this is my advice: Pack a knapsack with essentials and whatever funds you can squirrel away.  Put your dog in the car and tell the family you're going to the vet.  Peel out of the driveway, floor it and don't ever come back. It's your life -- go  live it.

Sarah's had a few different jobs over the years, like those bookkeeping positions she mentioned a while back, in addition to the Moody book money. I'm sure Steve keeps the money for her, but the money is there "for" her.

Originally, Steve and Teri's bio bragged about their wage earning adult children as proof of the success of their parenting. Interestingly, the changed it to just sons after Jesse graduated. Now they've taken it off entirely, it seems.

I remember that, and they mentioned Sarah had a nice "nest egg".  I assume (hope) she's had access to that money all these years.  I can understand saving a good portion of her earnings since she lives at home, but I hope it's always been her money and not Steve's for her.

They lost Sarah to the world.  A red car.  Next thing you know she will sneak a Pepsi when she goes inside to pay for her gas.  Seriously though, I am happy for her.  She needs to blast Born To Be Wild with the windows down and the wind ripping through her hair.  P.S.  When I read the post, the first thing I thought was what @Melissa1977 thought.  I said "Oh, it's not beige."

Oh absolutely definitely yaaaasssss -- as she peels out of the driveway and floors it ... headed for parts unknown away from the Kingdom of Stevehovah.

I hope she listens to music that she was not allowed to listen to growing up or doesn't feel comfortable listening to around her father.  Can't imagine life without the legends-Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin-way too many to mention.  Life without music is so empty.
