Now Matt may have crossed international borders for sex

Federal investigators are looking into a Bahamas trip Matt Gaetz allegedly took in late 2018 or early 2019 as part of an inquiry into whether the Florida representative violated sex trafficking laws, multiple sources told CBS News.

Gaetz was on that trip with a marijuana entrepreneur and hand surgeon named Jason Pirozzolo, who allegedly paid for the travel expenses, accommodations, and female escorts, the sources said.

Investigators are trying to determine if the escorts were illegally trafficked across state or international lines for the purpose of sex with the congressman

I hope that Gaetz's fiancee has people in her life who are giving her the GTFO talk.

Set the popcorn to poppin', y'all!

Indicted Matt Gaetz Associate Is Expected to Plead Guilty, Lawyers Say

The associate could cooperate with prosecutors, giving them information about Mr. Gaetz’s relationships that investigators are examining for possible sex trafficking violations.

I love the term "associate" in articles like this.  "Associate" always has a criminal connotation, and is often used in articles about mob connections and other criminal associations.  In this instance, "associate" refers to indicted Joel Greenberg who is facing a staggering laundry list of corruption charges related to his time in office as the Seminole County, FL  tax collector, and not just his sexual activities.  He's likely desperate to reduce time spent in the gray bar hotel.

Also, a good time to point out that there's no honor among thieves.

Yeah he sure acted innocent alright

Quote

According to Matt Gaetz, he is entirely innocent of allegations involving sex trafficking and prostitution, including involving a minor that the Justice Department is currently investigating.

"First I have never, ever paid for sex," the Florida Republican wrote in an op-ed published in the conservative Washington Examiner on Monday. "And second, I, as an adult man, have not slept with a 17-year-old."

Words are one thing. Actions are another. And Gaetz's actions -- in the final days of the Trump administration -- suggest a man who was worried about possible legal exposure.

Gaetz tried to secure a blanket preemptive pardon for himself (and his congressional allies) in the dying embers of Donald Trump's time in the White House, two people familiar with the matter tell CNN. Which, whoa. People who know they have done nothing wrong are not usually in the business of seeking a preemptive pardon from the President of the United States on his way out the door. Right? Right!

I just learned a new German word today.

Backpfeifengesicht

There's no direct English equivalent of the word, but it generally means "a face that is begging to be punched."

Yeah that describes CongressBro and Gym Jordan.

Of course you've never paid for sex Matty. You've done just like your idol taking the goods and stiffed the provider. You're probably lucky some pimps haven't caught up with you.

Gaetz was active on a web site that helped men connect to women who wanted to trade sex for "gifts" and apparently Matt (in his own words) is a VERY GENEROUS guy.  Apparently he used ATMs in hotel lobbies to get cash to buy "gifts".

So why didn't Trump pardon Gaetz? He pardoned a lot of other Republican scumbags so why was Matt left out?

Matt Gaetz Releases Statement from Nameless ‘Women’ Defending His Honor

Quote

Matt Gaetz’s office on Thursday released a statement purportedly from female staffers defending the embattled MAGA lawmaker amid his ongoing sex scandal. Despite being signed by “The Women of the Office of U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz,” not a single, actual woman was named.

“After the shocking allegations last week in the press, we, the women of Congressman Matt Gaetz’s office, feel morally obligated to speak out,” the letter began. “During Congressman Gaetz’s time in office, we have been behind the scenes every step of the way. We have staffed his meetings. We have planned his events. We have traveled with him. And we have tracked his schedule.”

Calling the MAGA congressman a “principled and morally grounded leader,” the unidentified women added that none of them had “experienced or witnessed anything less than the utmost professionalism and respect. No hint of impropriety. No ounce of untruthfulness.”

The letter continued: “In our office and under Congressman Gaetz’s leadership, women are not only respected, but have been encouraged time and time again to grow, achieve more, and ultimately, know our value.”

The nameless female staffers wrapped up the statement by saying they “uniformly reject these allegations as false” and that Gaetz has always treated every woman in his office with respect.

“Congressman Gaetz will continue to lead by example and stand for the people of America who have been maligned by the liberal elite,” the press release concluded. “And we will stand with him. While we recognize the scrutiny we will face for making this decision, we take comfort in the hope that more Americans and elected officials will stand up and refuse to remain silent.”

While the press release had no signatures attached, Gaetz’s communications directory Joel Valdez told The Daily Beast after publication that he could “confirm the entire office signed the statement, which includes all 8 women staffers.” However, he did not share the names of these signatories.

His fiancee may be asking some difficult questions right about now.  I hope she is at least taking good hard look at the man she is tying herself to.

I wonder if the engagement is a front. Like see what a good man he is, no way he would do this when he can find someone to marry. ?

---

All his bragging to colleagues and getting cash for gifts and using apply pay, etc. just proves how much he thinks he is entitled and privileged that he can get away with all of it. Once we find out the year of his first victim, we will know how long he has been getting away with it. Someone like him, I would not be suprised of there are stories back from when he was a teenager.

The double standard between how the GOP acts when it is one of their own verses a democrats makes me want to scream. :pull-hair:

Now this makes me question which came first in purity culture? Did the Republicans have to really push purity culture because many of their guys are natural pervs or are these boys raised in purity culture, told that men are pervs and feel like they need to grow up to be pervs?

Matt Gaetz would never do this. Ask his anonymous staffers.

Two things - they're too old for him and he's not stupid enough to shit where he eats apparently.

Also I would guess the staffers are in his mind as either Good Girls or Someone Else's Property, whereas the teenagers are in his mind under another category.

Seriously, it's a moot point if they are legally minors in the state where you live.

Also reeks of "Why would I rape her? I can get a date any time I want..."

Stick a fork in Gaetz; he's done.  It's Friday, maybe we'll get a nice surprise! However, it's a testament to the influence of the Trump era that Gaetz has't been forced to resign by his own party.

As a layperson and citizen with zero formal experience in diagnosing this condition, all signs point to Gaetz being a raging sociopath, which is why he and Greenberg (also a raging sociopath) became partners in (sex) crimes.

This article has a Joel Greenberg timeline.

Joel Greenberg Timeline: From rising Republican star to federal charges  Greenberg faces 33 federal charges

The variety and extent of crime-ing is staggering, but here's the sex and ID angle:

Quote

May - Nov. 2017 – While Greenberg is learning the ropes of his newly elected office, federal authorities allege Greenberg engaged in “commercial sex acts” with a minor older than 14 but younger than 18. They say he allegedly used the state’s driver’s license system (D.A.V.I.D.) to obtain the photograph and license number of the minor victim for sex trafficking purposes. (Ct 2, 4 of 3rd superseding indictment)

According to the indictment, Greenberg used customers’ discarded licenses at the tax office to make the fake licenses, which were done to facilitate commercial sex acts. Greenberg searched DAVID records for individuals with whom he was engaged in “sugar daddy” relationships.

It seems Gaetz was introduced to Greenberg in July 2017, and it appears Roger Stone (well-known for being a "swinger") was at this meeting as well.

Greenberg was embezzling from the tax office using cryptocurrency.  transactions.  I'm starting to wonder if Greenberg targeted running for the tax office position with cryptocurrency embezzling in mind.

And this, in the  October - November 2019 time frame:

Quote

Greenberg, posing as a “very concerned student,” allegedly sent letters to a school where his political opponent worked claiming the employee had engaged in sexual misconduct, created a fake Twitter account using the name and photo of the political opponent that was then used to express support for white supremacy, and created a fake Facebook page of a “very concerned teacher” that claimed the political opponent was engaged in sexual misconduct with a student. (Ct 24, 25 of 3rd superseding indictment)

Here's a simple summary from the Hedding law firm of how the process works on a plea deal and when and how proffers happen.  This has already happened in the Greenberg case...since Greenberg has plead guilty and there's a hearing today, although Greenberg won't attend in person.

When does the plea bargaining start in a Federal case?

Spoiler

Negotiation with Federal Prosecutor on Plea Agreement

If it is decided that it is in the best interest of the client to plea bargain, then the prosecuting attorney and the defense attorney will discuss the matter and the prosecutors will send over a plea agreement, where they’re offering to settle the case under certain terms.

The defense attorney will go over the plea agreement with their client and decide whether to accept it, reject it, or make a counteroffer. Eventually, if it’s agreed upon by both sides, the plea agreement is submitted to the court and the defendant will plead guilty to the agreed upon crime.

Then, a sentencing date will be set to resolve the case. There are other things that can happen in a federal case related to a plea bargain. Sometimes, the defendant will meet with the government for a reverse proffer, where the government will give the defendant all the information they have related to the case, so the defendant can see the strength of their case.

The defendant can then assess whether or not they want to resolve the case and enter into a plea bargain with the government.

In showing the defendant what they have, the government may want the defendant to talk to them in what’s called a proffer session, where the defendant will answer questions from the government. Typically, before a defendant would do that, they would sign a Queen for a day letter.

This is where the government basically promises not to use any of the information they give them during the proffer session against them. This proffer can lead to benefits for the defendant. One, the defendant will get the opportunity to explain his or her story, which may cause the prosecutors to be more reasonable and lenient.

Two, the defendant’s attorney can get points shaved off their sentence, which would lead to a reduced sentence in their federal case.

I can't see Gaetz lasting another week, but ya never know.  There's a lot of family money for his defense...but sometimes money can't save you.
