Yeah, there was a "mother's cross" in bronze, silver and gold, depending on how many kids you had, and it was a deliberate parallel to military honours and decorations. Because the men were supposed to die in Hitler's wars, while the women's job was to produce more soldiers for him. It wasn't exactly subtle. Oh yeah, and of course the kids had to come from "proper Aryan families" 🤢.

I think France has one of these, too. The Soviet Union also had ones, as did a number of communist countries. It's messed up.

That must be part of what I'm trying to remember. Imagine being infertile or having secondary infertility, and looked askance at because you haven't earned your medal. But of course there must have been many women who at least secretly didn't want the honor at all.

My tangents are not usually so relevant.

Or having a husband who was infertile.

Pretty sure only a handful of doctors in the 1930-40s would even admit that men could be infertile; the general consensus was that the women unable to give birth to a healthy baby was at fault (and possibly related to her "lifestyle").

Isn’t that horrible? Whenever I hear people talk how they wish we could go back to the good old days, I get a little miffed. “ Back then”, women were shamed for having premarital sex, ostracized if they were unmarried and pregnant with many forced to give up their babies for adoption; and if they couldn’t get pregnant when married, they got blamed for infertility even if sometimes it was because the man was sterile. So, so many hangups surrounding women’s sexuality and ability to get pregnant and give birth. Some hangups still exist, but it’s not as oppressive as it used to be.

Definitely a good idea to put the qualifier “love the _____, not the morals/politics/knowledge of that time” on any wistful longing for any time period. I LOVE the music, clothes, vehicles, movies, jewellery or architecture of various decades or centuries and would love to visit those actual time periods to fully immerse in any of that, but would HATE to actually live then!
Patriarchy sucks bad enough these days.

In Romania, Ceaușescu gave awards to mothers of 5 or more children. He also made abortion illegal and punishable by 1-5 years in prison. Plus he created a housing crisis, destroyed the economy, let his wife publish pseudo scientific papers on her “discoveries,” and allowed the state to run abusive institutions of children seen as inferior. You know, your basic Republican wet dream.

There's a pic on reddit of J&K out to dinner with their kids, and a new baby in a stroller.

I have seen documentaries and read stories about those orphanages....  God awful what happened to those children. Take heed people.

Is the stroller baby wearing a big head bow or not?

I saw it and no bows, also the blanket looks like it's blue or green. I'm guessing it's a boy.

So if Joe and Kendra did have #4 then they are about 3 months ahead of the Smiths (and got married 3 months before then). It is really scary how consistent these two couples have been at having babies.

So now two (possibly) plus rumors that Joy might be pregnant and JD and Abbie might have only announced because Gabby outed them.

(Generally I have noticed that the medicorps wives photos have been designed to hide bellies).

Looks like after that long streak of girls, the Duggar couples are now working on a string of boys (auto-correct wanted to make that a strong of boys. Which seems appropriate for them).

None of these couples are obligated to share anything, and I’m all for keeping their kids off social media. However, since they are at least marginally in the public eye and have a decent amount of followers, it would make sense if they shared basic info whenever a baby is born. Of course, I’m saying this in large part because I’m nosy, but sharing a name and birth date might cut down on the wild speculation, demands for updates, and semi-stalking (like this picture). They will be criticized whether or not they have babies, so they may as well be up front about it.

Oh can you grab a screen shot please I can not access reddit at work

I did wonder if that baby boy James was holding the other day was a new josiah or joe baby then I realised it is most prob was the jed baby

Also can we now take guess on Joe and Kendra's possible baby name before they confirm it or it leaks and ruins our/my fun?

I am going Brayden Nathaniel

I just want to potentially snark on names, and am curious for the sake of Duggar Data. Also, I imagine Jim Boob is disgruntled about not being able to brag about his massive family. Still, at least he’s respecting the wishes of those who don’t want to announce.

I think JB is avoiding the press. However if someone were to do a favorable article on him and Michelle, I absolutely think he would spill how many grandkids he has.

I totally agree. Giving the public the ordinary details and showing a pic of mom holding baby will curb all the wild speculations. And the baby will probably be pretty much ignored after that. It’s like when my husband and I are talking in low voices in the other room. My son will come running and ask what we are talking about. In his imagination, we are having a very interesting conversation. It must be about hidden treasure or getting a new cat! But nope. He’s always disappointed that we are just talking about boring plans for the next week.

From the US Weekly article on True'$ birth: "The Counting On alum exited his family’s show along with his siblings when it was canceled in June 2021 amid Josh Duggar’s arrest. The convicted sex offender, 33, was found guilty of receiving and possessing child pornography in December 2021."

So I am not sure I blame the adult kids for staying quiet about births so that they don't have articles about their new baby that also reference their pedophile brother.

Especially if Joy IS pregnant. She seems to be processing everything and she absolutely should not have to have that kind of happy news linked to Josh.

Sometimes I feel a bit of sadness that I rag on them for having kid after kid because reproduction should be a private and personal choice, and I should respect their choice if I want them to respect mine, which they likely do not. But, I have never made money off of my choice, and my choice does not potentially hurt children or mothers.

This can not be healthy for Kendra, Joe or their family.

Will they be JB/M 2.0 or will they get to a certain number and say whoa? Will it take a bad outcome? Will it take a firm talk from a medical professional? Do medical professionals in the south give health and wellness talks or educate on healthy reproduction? Do Kendra and the blessings not deserve better?

I'm Russian, so I feel like it's similar cultures( I have a lot of Romanian friends), the things that happen in Eastern European orphanages is just straight up terrifying. Kids stay in their cribs 24/7, lack of food, attention, basic needs, no human contact. Most just sit their cribs rocking back and forth, most never learn basic skills, their diapers don't get changed. When Russia closed off adoptions to the USA they basically institutionalized even more kids. A lot of them grow up with real mental health problems. Extreme agression, disconnect, a plethora or people out in society that can cause issues.

There’s nothing passionate about Joe and Kendra’s relationship. He strikes me as the kind of guy to get his needs met quickly, maybe too quickly, and roll over to sleep. And Kendra is probably just fine with that as she has to be exhausted. Joe thinks having all the kids makes it look like he’s getting alot of nookie from his really cute wife (who may not have looked his way if he weren’t part of a Duggar TV show,) but I think it’s just the opposite. Anyway, that’s how they seem to me.
