I..... am completely the opposite of large.  So that may be part of why it was rough for me.  Small bones and high metabolism is a great combo.  ?

That's more like me.  My arm was sore for three days and I got the red rash below the injection site.  Icing helped a lot.  I may not complain about the sore arm as much since it seems almost all vaccines do that to me.  My neighbor's very large husband was kind of huh? about if his arm was sore or not.  She's a large woman and said it only bothered her if she rolled on her side sleeping.

This is purely going to be a stab in the dark for me but I think it’s worth it. I usually react badly to vaccines (so much so that they jab me with adrenaline sitting there ready to go). I’m talking tennis ball sized lump and I’m sometimes unable to use my arm for a week afterwards. Lucky me ?

Anyway, after they let me leave the clinic I go straight to the gym after a flu shot and do minimum 30 minutes cardio because it’s shown to boost immunity. And anecdotally it lessens my response plus I genuinely seem to be much less sick with colds and flus when I do the cardio. There have been a few times I’ve been unable to go to the gym straight after the shot, and I definitely notice the difference.

Im planning on doing the same for my Covid vax even though no studies have been done - it can’t hurt.

I couldn't sleep on that side the night I got the shot.  It wasn't great the next night either.

Fascinating.  I hadn't heard of this before.  I'm curious if it does end up helping for you!

I recall that the traditional choice for which arm to use when receiving a vaccine was whichever wasn't one's writing arm, so that one's ability to write wouldn't be impeded by the post-vax soreness.

Hardly matters these days, since we type more than we handwrite, but when I got my first shingles shot last July, I automatically offered my right arm, being left-handed.

That was a mistake -- I didn't need to do much writing for the next few days, but I did need to sleep, and I tend to sleep on my right side.  Ouch!

I got smarter when I got the second dose and used my left arm.  Much better!  Will continue to use the left arm for the covid shots once I'm able to get them.

My issue with the which arm - is that I actually sleep on BOTH sides throughout the night due to pain issues.

So, Walmart/Sams has been added to the mix here.  Their system is messed up and while they made this announcement, people couldn't actually schedule an appointment.  Also I think it was announced/stated yesterday that the Walmart doses were coming out of the Federal numbers and not from the Missouri allocation.

This adds ANOTHER place for people to have to try to register with.  Including Seniors who don't do technology and folks without internet.

In theory, it's supposed to be an increase in available vaccinations.

UK Variant found in Clark County Missouri (NE Corner of the state - so a bit north of the original case, borders Iowa & Illinois)

Sorry.  We'll have it all over before we know it.

In good news, I read this morning that Biden has ordered enough vaccine to finish vaccinating the rest of the country.  The downside is that it may not all be delivered until July.

To me, July is an upside, not a downside. I fully expected it to be close to the end of 2021 before we had enough to vaccinate everyone.

Oh dammit we are locking down again for 5 days after another quarantine outbreak. Bring on the bloody vaccinations, sheesh.

Every day is one day closer to us getting the vax ?

I hope the latest lockdown goes well for you. It sucks. I actually feel really bad for the guy who sparked the outbreak - he has spoken out saying that he was given permission to use the nubuliser for his asthma. Combined with the photos being released of the workers doing their jobs without PPE, I wonder how many more bungles hotel quarantine will go through.

The guy with the nebuliser is in ICU now and says he’s been made to feel like a criminal :(

I am wondering who the hell gave permission, because I doubt they were medical. That should have been referred to a medical specialist (I'm also really surprised that he uses a nebulizer for asthma as that isn't the norm here now and hasn't been for over 20 years. My husband - who has severe chronic asthma - used one when we got together, but hasn't had it since the late 90s when they moved to spacers and preventative inhalers.) At least some people have said the problem was less the nebulizer than the door being opened - but how else can they collect food?

I'm frustrated by the outbreak, but hotel quarantine was a stop gap solution and should have been replaced by now. These hotels weren't designed for this purpose, and it is frustrating that we still have stupid errors occurring that makes the system even more likely to breach, and why the hell there isn't PPE available/being worn this late in the game I don't know.

They're talking about redeveloping one former hospital site to combined quarantine/medical facility, but I really don't know if that will happen. As to the constant "why not send them somewhere remote?" question, have these people firstly never seen the lack of infrastructure there and secondly the problem is infection passing to workers - that risk won't change, and might in fact increase because of fewer potential places to shop/socialise.

What I am really over is the constant political sniping and the conspiracy theories being actively pushed by certain sections of the media. Frankly I wish Bolt, Rupert and a few others would get sick, then they might actually STFU.

Mostly I want this vaccine roll out to happen so we can stop shutting down. Even if it means Jimmy Rees and Sammy J have to find new material! (Props to Jimmy who got pt12 out yesterday morning). At least I'm getting entertainment out of the exposure sites - especially the Dan Murphy's (liquor store) that was visited twice in 24 hours. Get on the beers Victoria.

I got dose #2 of Moderna on board this past week.  Only minor side effects, and even less arm soreness than I got with the first dose.

Of course I sold my soul to the devil and took the mark of the beast and who knows what else by doing it, but at least I won't die from COVID now.

My partner is on three lists now, so we hope he will get an appointment soon. I don't turn 65 until June, so it will be while for me.

Meanwhile in the Antipodes NZ has decided to join Victoria in a short lock down due to cases of the new variant.

The humour here has gone a bit on the darker side - Montague St is unfortunately a very low bridge on a fairly major road. It has lights, noise things, signs etc saying what the height of the bridge is, and still it has vehicles collide with it to the point that it's an ongoing joke. The Bridge also has its own Facebook page. All this to explain:

I have a potentially stupid question for those who have been vaccinated.

If you have been vaccinated and have a "yellow card" for travel, did they mark the vaccine on your yellow card?

I'd assume they would, so when my turn comes I'm going to take mine with me, but I figured I'd ask. I've seen things about "coronavirus passports" and such, but I don't see why it couldn't just be marked on the standard yellow card along with other travel vaccines.

We were all given little COVID vaccine cards where I went.   They're wallet sized and we were told to take a photo of it if we had a smart phone. I don't think the assistant would have had an objection to filling in a separate vaccine record where I was, but at a mass vaccination site, they might.

Yep.  They issue a white card for this one.  I'm assuming it's considered to be in a separate category from your typical travel vaccines and so they won't do it on your travel vaccine record by default.

I also have a record of it on the website that I registered through to get the vaccine that I can print off and use as proof of vaccination.

My elderly parents got their first dose of vaccine on Valentine's Day and had zero side affects.  2nd round in 3 weeks.  My younger son is vaccinated because he works in a hospital.

Next on my peace of mind list is my pregnant daughter-in-law and older son. ❤️

From Rachel Maddow - she had a Doc on last night who discussed this subject.  And Discussed Imperial County California where a doc was getting people on these BEFORE they required hospitalization.
