(For legal reasons that's a joke ;) )

You mean in case I fall off the ladder, or in case I'm on CNN after having been in a shoot out with Geffro for calling him GeffrO.

Wolf Blitzer here in the situation room, all we know now is the gunman went to a cult compound in the Centreville Valley area of Tennessee and was shot at when cult occupants saw his FREE Jinger sweatshirt. The visitor is thought to be the son of fundamentalist baptists, and was reportedly kicked out of vacation Bible school at age three for smacking his teachers buttocks and saying giggley giggley or something like that. Now it is believed he was saying jinger jinger and was already in "open rebellion" at that age. In a minute we will go live with his charismatic grandmother in Florida for a story of him faking speaking in tongues at age 8 during a revival on a dare from a cousin, and refusing to give his offering at age 6 saying pastors are already rich.  Wait , wait just a minute we can now report he was spotted at the movies and latter in a hotel pool "mixed bathing" before the shooting. Hotel guest also report Van Halen playing on his car stereo when he drove up. A pattern is definitely developing that explains his parents wanting to send him to Bill Gothard's Alert Academy.

All the fun speculation about Melania and her parents being spies is just so delicious. It's just "truthy" enough.

The only thing that destroys its credibility is the complete lack of need to spy on Trump, given he appears to cheerfully turn over everything he knows to his handler.

Also, I can't be the only person here who thinks of a dinosaur's spindly little forelegs, rather than guns when I read "TRex Arms"

No, you're NOT the only one -- that is exactly the image that comes to mind when I read the company name.

Funny, I thought of ole Doug Phillips ( AKA super midget ) and that video about his homeschoolers hunting for the remains of Fred and Whilma Flintsone in Bedrock. Then they came out with a fraudulent video about how little homeschooler kids went in search of an allosaur, found an allosaur, excavated the allosaur, plus a stegosaur and a one-hundred-and-twenty-foot-long sauropod that’d be about thirty feet tall, all in four days.

Then admittedly, I'm different . When I see the Geico commercial with the pig swinging on the zip line going weee weee weee, I think of super midget  doing the same on vines in the jungle on his Hazardous Journey for MANLY Men series of christian porn.

Dang, there was a lot of ink spilled over the Raising the Allosaur fraudumentary  and it ended badly for Texas fossil collector Joe Taylor.  There's also a connection to Mark Meadows, ex!-Pres. Trump's ex Chief of Staff.  I'll post a link to a New Yorker article on the Doug Phillips thread so we don't totally derail from all things Duck Biologist and the Botkinetti.

Since Voddie Bacham was mentioned earlier in this thread, I figure this is the best place to post. He posted on his FB that he has heart failure and he will be undergoing treatment.

Here is the post. Daughter Jasmine said on her public IG that he planned to seek medical care in Mississippi.

He also has a chronic kidney condition, IIRC, so this seems pretty serious.

"Please pray for our finances to come through as we are currently uninsured..."

I think his wife has serious health issues as well.  I don't think there is enough money in the US to pay for the medical bills he's in the process of incurring not to mention the air fare for flying the family back and forth. Maybe his ministry covers that, but who knows.

For those in the know about medical insurance, is there an option for him to apply for coverage under the Affordable Care Act as someone who has been living abroad and has just returned to the US?

Given the amount of money requested in this GoFundMe, I'm guessing they don't have access to medical insurance that covers these expenses in the US medical system:

I knew people who would pray for traveling mercies. I always just took it as wanting supernatural help having a safe trip. I suppose they may have been envisioning angels guarding them?

Some anonymous person donated 10.000$? Sweet baby cheesus... that is a huge amount of money.

While I'd never which harm on him, Voddie Baucham really disgusts me ever since I read an article by him in which he said that shyness and reluctance in toddlers should be met with physical punishment. Still get tears of anger in my eyes writing about this, because it is simple evil.

“Vipers in diapers” still turns my stomach.

(And I noticed that a nondenominational church in my area lists him as a resource on its website.)

I've always been amazed at how Jasmine seems to have plotted her own course after marrying.  She's still fundy, but more on the relatively normal end of the spectrum.

Baucham has some extremely wealthy & powerful supporters. The post shown is from one of the myriad PayPal co-founders, Southern Baptist Convention Grand Poobah & Trump supporter/strategist.  http://www.MartinOrganization.com

Given all the badshit crazy stuff Baucham has said about women & daughters, I'm still amazed people support him.  Also it looks like they've upped the ante to 1.25 million.

She's come a ways. Now Presbyterian as opposed to her Baptist upbringing. Definitely out there on her public IG trying to educate all her fellow fundies who are still confused or in denial about the white supremacy inherent in US evangelical churches. Also trying to shed light on the role of Black evangelicals in the histories of those same churches. She's still anti-LGBTQ though.

Re: Voddie's loathsome preaching. Hopefully, his medical treatments will be successful and he'll live to renounce his vile statements, but I'm not holding my breath for the latter. Besides his "vipers in diapers," there's his recommended beating of shy childrenblaming Michael Brown for his own death, and his comments on daughters and fathers. So much vileness and yet so many people still seem to worship this guy. He's also another prominent Christian pastor who was happy to co-grift with Doug Phillips and VF, but slunk away in silence after the Fall of the Tool.

It's disheartening that being anti-LGBTQ seems to often be one prejudice fundies stick to, even when they've re-evaluated their other beliefs. :(

Heart transplant. Eek.  I doubt if he's ever going back to Africa.  I'm surprised he didn't go back to Spring, TX, which is the location of his church before he zipped off to Africa.  Spring is an outer suburb of Houston, location of multiple major hospitals and at least one medical school.

Ugh, Tom Ascol is involved, barf.  He's involved with the Founders Ministries, an ultra-Calvinist group operating in the SBC.

They attracted a lot of attention about two years ago when they showed up at the SBC Convention and "interviewed" abuse survivors and advocates who held a rally ("For Such a Time as This") outside the convention as most were not allowed entry.  The interviews were conducted under false pretenses, while some footage from inside the conference was manipulated to smear people like Rachael Denhollander (they used a voiceover to refer to "principalities and powers" over blurred but definitely recognizable footage of her).  Then they were assholes about it, then a few of them resigned.  Links in the spoiler for anyone interested.

But back to Voddie, this is one of his quotes I'll never forget:

"...unless you raised Jesus II, there were days when Junior needed to be spanked 5 times before breakfast.” If you only spanked your child 5 times, then that means almost every time they disobeyed you, you let it go.

Why do your toddlers throw fits? Because you’ve taught them that’s the way that they can control you. When instead you just need to have an all-day session where you just wear them out and they finally decide “you know what, things get worse when I do that.”

I guess one good thing is that when assholes are in a group, they are easier to avoid.

My sympathies for this prick just went right out the window. Sounds like the Ezzos, Pearls ,Geoffro Botkin and Spanky all rolled into one asshole.

Kara, writing to Jesus-centric wedding-advice columnist: "My future FiL is a bloviating wing nut patriarch who wants to dominate our wedding.  How do I shut this shit down STAT?"

Actually I would be very interested in the answer to that one incase my Courtship with Elizebeth Botkin works out. Just got a Little Giant Ladder System. Sprung for the 26 foot model recommended by Doug Philips and the National association of Peeping Dougs.

Better in some ways, but there's definitely some overlap.  The more I learn about him the more amazed I am that he's seen as relatively mainstream (with a few weird ideas that can be tolerated) in circles that would see the Botkins, Pearls, etc., as way out.  Some of his views aren't as objectionable, but he's more dangerous in other ways because he *does* manage to make himself seem more mainstream.
