I mean ...in 2016 it went to Clinton And the near by town of Millsfield voted for Trump solidly .It’s telling of nothing. If Texas goes to Biden then I will get excited ;)

Dixville Notch, New Hampshire is a very small town.  Two years ago it had a population of 12.  Apparently it only had 5 registered voters this year, and all 5 of them voted for Biden.

In New Hampshire, each town is allowed to set its own voting hours.  Dixville Notch wanted to be the first to report their results, so they either had everyone vote early and counted the votes just after midnight, or they gathered at their polling place and voted as soon as they could.  It doesn't take long to count the votes when you have such a small number to count.

I've stocked up for a long day and night:

I'm happy to share. I also brought some snacks:

And, of course, can't forget the popcorn:

I voted by mail and got the notice that my ballot was accepted weeks ago. I still woke up this morning shaking and nauseated. This needs to be fucking over already.

I'm super curious but I will not be able to stay up all night for results this time... my boss will not like it if I take advantage of working from home by sleeping all day. So I will have to check as soon as I wake up.

Anyway, I am sending all the good vibes I can across the ocean in the hope of you guys getting rid of the orange monster. It is a bit funny that your election usually has a bigger impact on our lives than our own election.

Don’t hold your breath. There’s a fairly big chance we won’t know either way until the end of the week (or much later if things go really badly). That said, I’m trying to remain optimistic that we will have our result tonight. Fingers crossed!

Our only hope is if there's a wide enough margin that the Trumpers have to accept it. If we have another Bush/Gore result, I will lose whatever shred of sanity I have left. I don't even want to consider other, worse possibilities.

I feel so sick right now.

Sadly, hardcore BTs wouldn't accept it if Biden won 49 states, each by at least 20 points,  and Twitler won one.

There will be some who will not accept it, no matter what the numbers are.

Chicago and many other cities are already boarding up....for the people who will lost their shit if Trump loses there is no margin by which they'll consider a Biden win valid.

I'm not planning to stay up to see if we get a result tonight, but, being realistic, I'm so keyed up I'm not sure I could sleep anyway. Hopefully Rufus will bless us all with a short night. I know He likely won't but a girl can have her dreams.

I'll be up.  I shouldn't be, but not even going to kid myself as no way will I be able to sleep.

 Query: is the Flying Spaghetti Monster  the Chief FJ God and Rufus his representative four hoofed messenger to us?  Are they equal?

Is it sacred Marinara or blessed oats we sacrifice To get results here ? !

Per CNN, the results in NC will be delayed because some polling places are staying open late because of some sort of issue opening on time. The delay will be around 45 min.

I have several piano students whose parents expect them to learn hymns from the LDS hymnal. Most of these families, as far as I can tell, are not total right-wing bigots, and some of the teens have let slip hints to me that they are actually pretty liberal.

Since we are doing remote lessons these days, I ask them to email and let me know what their next hymn choice will be, so I can have the page open and ready on the church website.

One student's choice for today is a setting of the the Tennyson poem Ring Out Wild Bells:

Quote

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
   The flying cloud, the frosty light:
   The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,
   Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
   The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Ring out the grief that saps the mind
   For those that here we see no more;
   Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
Ring in redress to all mankind.

Ring out a slowly dying cause,
   And ancient forms of party strife;
   Ring in the nobler modes of life,
With sweeter manners, purer laws.

Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
   The faithless coldness of the times;
   Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
But ring the fuller minstrel in.

Ring out false pride in place and blood,
   The civic slander and the spite;
   Ring in the love of truth and right,
Ring in the common love of good.

Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
   Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
   Ring out the thousand wars of old,
Ring in the thousand years of peace.

Ring in the valiant man and free,
   The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
   Ring out the darkness of the land,
Ring in the Christ that is to be.

The hymn setting does not contain all of the verses, but I like her choice!

Election Day coverage from NBC News.

The earlier post I did about PBS has the wrong time. It doesn't start until 4pm EST. Sorry, I'm so used to everything being listed as eastern time, that I just assumed it meant eastern time.

Is anyone else completely incapable of working today? I can't seem to focus on anything but CNN, even though I know we won't know a damned thing for a few more hours.
