That green color is hot right now. On the unmarried fundies, we've talking about a couple who recently got married (Brianna Gimenez and AJ Blankensop) and the bridemaids dresses were the same color. They also had short sleeves, but no slits up the dress.

I wore a floor length short sleeve sage green bridesmaid dress in a wedding 21 years ago. Green is my favorite color so I always prefer green bridesmaid dresses. No matter the shade.

I wonder why he is the ex-FIL. What a manipulative, intrusive thing to ask someone. I personally despise veils. Having to change my plans of my wedding outfit so my FIL doesn’t think I am an evil slut would have hurt a lot! Hugs to 19 year old version of you!!

Thank you 💖 I can laugh at the horribleness of it all at this point (I've had a lot of therapy and am very happy with my life and in my current marriage, thankfully), but he really truly was/is a peace of work. (Even then I didn't like the guy, so I'm pretty sure I omitted the blisher veil on purpose to spite him, lol!)

Re traditions: My dad walked me down the aisle at both my weddings, because I’d rather have thrown myself in front of a bus than hurt his feelings. I did insist, though, that my wedding announcements read “escorted to the altar by her father” instead of “given in marriage.”*

My mom walked me down the aisle, and used “escorted to the altar” in the announcement.  My sperm donor was never a part of my life in any significant way; I was 21 before he caught up with the back child support(at the princely sum of $17.50 a week), and when he died in 2015, I wasn’t even listed as a survivor in his obituary, although his stepchildren were.

Catherine Middleton wore a blusher at her wedding in 2011.

Not fundie, and lived with PW for years before marrying him. Just saying.

The last wedding I went to three or four years ago, the bio dad and step dad both  escorted her a little way down the aisle (one on each side) and then she went the rest of the way down the aisle on her own.

Audri Botkin recently posted the Vice article on Doug Wilson on her FB page, and the ensuing discussion is very interesting, including this comment from her sister:

The guy she's replying to is one of the pro-Wilson asshats who said:

Quote

If Doug and Co. need to come down God can bring them down with all the decisiveness with which He brought down Vision Forum- and if they are hiding iniquity than I pray that He would do so. But unless and until He does so I am looking at fruits from a distance, and the majority of fruit that I see is good fruit, so I am not going to reject people who I see being consistently (though imperfectly) faithful to Christ based on an internet hit piece.

H/T to @JemimaPuddle-Duck for mentioning this in the Doug Wilson thread.

Jen McBride is a huge Wilson leg humper and spends a lot of time defending the Wilsons on that fb thread,  which boils down to HE MUST BE READ IN CONTEXT!  Everything is wonderful in the Kirk!  I know the Wilsons and they're all WONDERFUL.  Wilson respects women!

According to her fb profile, she's a Plexus ambassador, a 2nd gen homeschooler, mother of 8, anti vaxx anti science twunt.  She's not a critical thinker.

I think both Audri and Benjamin make the point that all the possible wonderfulness  does NOT make up for the horribleness, among many other good points.

There are others commenting who were deeply steeped in the Wilson koolaid for years, read all his books, every blog and mablog, every femina blog, all of it, and finally, finally started to realize that things didn't add up.   A lot of it had to do with things Wilson was saying that were not backed up in scripture and/or the ugliness of his approach to those who were not on his side.

He also recorded a weird concept album called "The Womb of the Dawn" (sort of a Christianese Enya vibe?) with Faith Phillips back in the day.

Edit: Actually, looking at the date, it came out a good year after the Fall 'O Tool.

Oof.  I haven't thought about Gabriel in a while.  I remember a time when I thought he was very thoughtful and respected him more than many others in those circles that I was interacting with.  Yeah, my perspective has changed a little since then.

He used to write movie reviews on his All Authority blog.  Rogue One:

https://web.archive.org/web/20170403030604/http://allauthority.blogspot.com/2017/02/review-rogue-one.html

To his credit, he's more balanced on some things than a lot of them are.  By which I mean that he didn't vote for Trump, and he called out male immodesty and not just female:

So, to address the topic of this thread.  WHERE. IS. DOUG. PHILLIPS?  Where is he?  What's he up to?  Is he working on a "project"?  He was still wearing his wedding ring at his daughter's wedding.  Does he live with Beall while she works a low-income job?  Is he hanging with trapeze artists and admiring the human form? Working as an agent?  Making documentaries?  Whichever it is, he's done a very, very good job of going undercover to the outside world.

I mean, I know I need to know too. But if he faded into obscurity that would really be best for everyone as we all know bwah. But going to jail would be even better!

I want to know whatever he’s doing to make money, so that I can do it, too. Because whatever it is it sure doesn’t seem like work.

Beall has pretty much gone dark on her public Instagram.  She's got two grandbabies to adore so maybe that's taking up her time.

Also interesting are the likes on Audri's post.  Including Jasmine Holmes (didn't surprise me), Becky Morecraft (did surprise me), and Audrey Jost (married to Josiah of Jostie Flicks).

This actually makes me angry. This woman taught a lot more than "gracious letter writing" and "proper etiquette." Like Beall, she needs to apologize to all whom she hurt with VF's misogynistic, racist ideology. But no, she's just pretending like it never even happened. Well, it did happen, and we remember, Becky!

That's interesting, because you'd think that would mean more posts (of the grandbabies). I know it has for us.

I'm assuming Beall has a private Instagram and it all goes there.

Many thanks to @nelliebelle1197 for this recommendation -- just started listening to a major Doug Phillips-VF episode on the Leaving Eden podcast. Turns out that the DPIART episode is their most-requested topic of all time! :tw_lol:

I haven't listened to this podcast before which, from what I can tell, mostly focuses on IFB & NIFB, but I'm glad they decided to do a deep dive on Dougie. The more that's out there the less likely he'll be able to return to his former religious scams.

I wasn't super impressed with their episode prep (they seriously couldn't find a reputable source to confirm whether Doug had 7 children, or 8? Or where he went to undergrad?) but I will forever be indebted to them for "Vision Forum bougie-fundie".

It desperately needs to be a post count title. 🙏

About half way through listening to it, and I agree. I am also not sure why they seem so unsure because a LOT of information is out there, including some of the very sources they link to in the show notes.

Doug Phillips, VF, and all those who made bank on it while destroying people's lives -- Scott Brown, Voddie Baucham, James & Stacy McDonald, Jennie Chancey, the Botkins, among others -- deserve to have a deep dive podcast of perhaps several episodes that include a who's who & detailed history of how these destructive religious grifters became so influential.

Yesterday I Googled "Vision Forum podcast" (trying to quickly find the Leaving Eden link to send someone) and accidentally ran across a podcast called "Cult Movie Hysteria", has it ever come up here before?

The description is "An in-depth look at films created by cult members for cult members."

There are six episodes all together, these are the first three:

I've only listed to E1 (Tea with Michelle Duggar), but I'm pretty impressed so far.

Finished the DPIART/VF episode of Leaving Eden and I'm sorry to say that it was disappointing.

While I agreed with many of the podcasters' opinions, I don't understand why their research was so sloppy & incomplete.

@AnnaSofia - thank you for those links. They're queued up on my podcast downloads. Will report back.

Yeah, I just finished the 3rd episode of CMH, and while they seem better informed than the Leaving Eden hosts, there are still a handful of things that come up short.

Attention potential fundie snark podcasters: if you have questions, come to Freejinger! We can set you straight :pb_lol:

Of all the VF "films", Return of the Daughters has probably aged the most disastrously.  The Botkinettes (or the Havisham Twins, as I often think of them) still single, Jasmine *worked* before getting married and doesn't agree with her father's leanings any longer, Kelly Brown divorced and remarried, VF completely imploded, on and on.  And the fact that Lourdes was most likely being abused and victimized by DPIART *during the time of her filming* just creeps me the fuck out and makes me mad as a hornet.

"The Havisham Twins" -- This is spot on. I love it!

Yes, DPIART, VF, and the fallouts really need a deep dive podcast.
