The only other time I've seen her smile in four fucking years was when she was holding on to the arm of majorly handsome, buff soldier as she was being escorted somewhere during the inauguration ceremonies.

Well, there was this:

Fuck knob has his fee fees hurt cause Malaria isn’t on fashion magazine covers anymore.

Quote

Back when she was a full-time model, Melania Trump used to get the odd fashion magazine cover. No more—and that seems have her hubby a little grouchy on Christmas. “The greatest of all time. Fake News!” the president tweeted about the wife for whom he rarely publicly advocates.

Probably getting ready for the divorce and hoping this will convince her to accept a better settlement. Not out of any actual love for her.

It's not out of any affection, but the way that having a supermodel trophy wife would reflect on his own virile masculine self image.   Plus he always takes any excuse to whine about fake news media.

FWIW i think the greatest of all time probably refers to Breitbart and not Melania.

Yes that too. I still think he realizes that she might be leaving him after they leave the presidency. And this is a cynical attempt in his part to encourage her to stick with him longer or at least negotiate better settlement terms in the divorce.  If New York brings charges she might try to leave sooner in the hopes she can get more of fuck face’s money before the government and/or various creditors grab it. Being able to whine about the media is a plus for him.

Howdee do! Arriving as a recent reader of the Winston Wolkoff book, and as a person vaguely fascinated by Melania since 2016 -- but in a lazy, David Rodrigues-style of fascination, kind of slack-jawed, half-asleep fascination.

As photos of the couple began proliferating in '15, I was bemused by how their squinty scowls were identical.  Wondered if they'd practiced.

As an acquaintance in the early part of the Trumpocalypse kept yammering about how Melania is an interesting person, an immigrant and sadly overlooked by the media.  Paid little attention because said acquaintance was the kind of person one listened to just enough to be sure they weren't behind you with a baseball bat.

Ground my poor teeth some more, the worst coming with the "I really don't care, do u?" jacket.

Ordered the Wolkoff book when I found it suggested by my library since I'd recently finished "Too Much and Never Enough."

Snapped it up, wanting the answers to two questions: WHY the ridiculous jacket and was the squinty smirk rehearsed?

My takeaways from the Wolkoff debacle are the only really original comments I have to make, and they are:  Even the adult children of privilege, people given to hard work and blessed with the right kind of personality along with the names, can be bamboozled.  Perhaps even want to be bamboozled.

Ms. Wolkoff's almost-girl-crush on Ms. Trump seemed to start when she noticed the model in the Vogue offices.  There had to be hundreds of ambitious models come through to Ms. Wintour's offices, but Melania grabbed her attention.  From then on, their friendship took on a bright-light aspect for SWW (I'm trying to be all New York Times-y and use the honorifics but I'm too lazy).

She remembers early lunchtime conversations with MT bestowing such wise counsel -- and at the time I'm reading, I'm thinking, "Bromides! Cliches! Platitudes!" But to SWW, because the advice/words came from MT, there was wisdom and grace abounding!

I couldn't diss, though.  It made me look at the recent unhappy turn of a 25-year friendship honestly: Had I come to expect some greatness from a person who had none, just because I'd decided a couple decades ago to hold her in high esteem for something she'd achieved?

There were no further parallels to the Trump situation, though, so that's as far as that went.  I feel more sorry for SWW than anything.

The other thing I learned about MT that both nauseates and intrigues me: SWW quotes MT as saying, so many times, some derivation of "I'm doing this my way; period, end of sentence."  The downside to that is MT's arrogant belief that she needs not explain anything to anybody, even though she complains like a motherlover.  The upside is that as repulsive as they may be, she stands by her opinions and beliefs.

The one that stands out is when SWW and another adviser wrote a line in MT's speech about child literacy to the effect, "Barron and I have loved reading [some book or other] every night." MT struck it because, "Nobody needs to know that detail about my family" - or words to that effect.

The setting of boundaries and respect for and adherence to them is admirable.

Other than that, I'll be glad to see less and less and less of MT.  She's the ruthless, ambitious achiever out of Central Casting and good riddance.  After all, Ivanka's still young, in case her or Clown Prince Jared's political star re-rises ... and she's more than enough for this role.

Probably not. The point was, the Obamas had installed a basketball court in that spot. Turning it back into a tennis court would not have been enough. Building the pavilion ensured that no one could turn it back into a basketball court.

Why on earth would Melania ever leave her Donald? She is every bit as odious as he is. She's a bit long in the tooth to find another rich old man and chances are he wouldn't be any more attractive than the Mango Menace. Jerry Hall isn't that much older than Melania and even she had to settle for Rupert Murdoch.

OTOH, Rudy Giuliani is single.

Never feel sorry for Melania. She really is as bad as her husband.

She was too busy arranging furniture (for a photo shoot for a coffee table book she is writing) to stop an insurrection.
From the article:

But now we find out that White House staff begged Melania to intercede and force Trump to go on TV and get the terrorists to stop. Melania is one of the very few people left in this country that has any pull at all with Trump. She refused to even speak to Trump about it and moved on wiping a vase.

She is just as evil as her husband and I’m not surprised she cared more about useless objects.  Malaria herself is a useless object. I also think she didn’t want to do anything to help her husband. She hates him so much she is okay with riots if it means he is brought down

I could have lived without this word choice, though:

In the light of the recent events,  I suspect this book won't make it to the coffeetables at all. Any sensible publisher will think twice.

Melania's statement

She's concerned that people have said bad things about her.

And very sad for the deceased attackers.

Good gravy, this is worse than saying nothing. Definitely written by a Trump loyalist who didn’t read the room.

Notice the statement memorializes the seditionists who died and lists their names *before* the police officers who died. Officer Sicknick was also an AF veteran, but that wasn’t mentioned.

Wow, as always, that is a tone-deaf statement.  What is the saying?  Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak and leave no doubt.  I hope her book deal goes the way of Hawley's.

I wonder if Melania is going to stay in DC so Barron can finish out the school year and see his friends?

Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

She's going to put DC in the rear-view mirror so fast, I would not be surprised if she, Barron and her parents are already at Mar a Lago.

Back in December, it was reported that she, Barron, and her parents were going to be in FL starting in January. I'm sorry, I don't remember the source.

It must be hell to be that kid. Middle school is bad enough, but when everyone hates your father it must really suck.

I thought this might be a good time to remember that someone put up a statue of Melania in Slovenia.  It got burned so they replaced it with one made out of bronze.  Both of them make me laugh.

Wooden statue, before and after:
