Bontragers/Bowers 6: Allison Is Married! Who Will Date Her Brothers Now?

I love Allison's rings, flowers, and gazebo pictures. I think she will frame a lot of the pretty pictures for her home and never watch that train wreck ceremony again.

I hope Jeremiah was just REALLY nervous. He is the fundie version of my type and looks kind, so if he has genuine affection for Allison and is more laid back than the two blathering patriarchs/wants to stay out of the spotlight that will actually be a great thing.

There was one woman wearing a mask in the picture of Allison's walk down the aisle. I wonder if Allison will be upset that the mask 'ruined the picture' or what that somewhat responsible woman thought about the plandemic lecture.

I like Allison dress. I could have chosen a dress like that myself.

No BEC for the pictures. Everything was nice.

Who is Praise?

Jeremiah's sister, who is suspected to be courting Denver Bontrager.

Beautiful wedding pics! Vibrant lighting. Definitely not Chris Maxwell style. Who is Praise??

The sister of the groom that Denver was escorting in the wedding party. At a Bontrager performance a few moths ago Elizabeth introduced Denver and said he was praying nightly for a special young lady from Minnesota, the Helfridch (spelling?) families home state. And the Bontragers have form with marrying multiple siblings into the same family.

The pictures show a much happier and engaged couple than any part of the political rally badly disguised ad a wedding. Someone who didn’t see the wedding would think beautiful wedding, happy couple, loving family & friends. Allison got her romantic feel with the photographs so I am happy for her.

Oh wow, so Elizabeth put a hint out there that Denver might be taken. Looks good, but what does he do for money??

I think he works on the farm. Because the Bontragers have the Dutch Country Inn and the dairy farm, it’s pretty likely all the boys will have a job in the family if they choose to stay.

Even faux intellectual Josh works on the family farm until the rest of the world recognises the genius of his homeschool essays and catapults him into politics or academia.

I need pictures of the food at the reception, dangit!

I want someone to ask the Bont's what the reception menu was and encourage them to post pictures. Inquiring minds need to know.

I think it is possible they didn't serve any food or beverages at all. No one in the pictures is holding a plate. There are only a few water bottles. And the cake - the whole cake - is the size of a birthday cake.  Not enough to feed the guests.

PLUS, the wedding started at 3 p.m. lasted about an hour and a half and A&J let the reception before the sun went down.

Her highlights are just...streaky.  And so unnatural.

Also, I'm not a fan of the giant bouquets, but that's just my taste.

I agree, and there is SO much just standing around, it doesn't like there was any sitting down to eat anything. There's one pic that looks like people are sitting waiting for the couple to arrive after pictures, and then ONE other of a few people sitting at a table.

I also enjoyed the pics overall (especially defiant mask lady) but y'all...

I'm leaning towards him being almost adorably awkward (with all the caveats about hateful terrible beliefs, etc)

To me, that cake looks like the smallest layer that gets saved for the first wedding anniversary.

It is small. My guess is that there were other sheet cakes for the rest of the guests.

re: the food at Alison's wedding

I wonder why they switched from the sorts of foods at the other recent Bont weddings and Alison's. Maybe the finances were tight? Financial worries might also be part of the reason for the political speech by Alison's father.

Allison looks perfect in every single picture. Her wedding dress is beautiful, the bridesmaid dresses looked both lovely and comfortable, the whole color scheme works really well.

Not sure about the lack of food and lack of cake. It seems like you would at least want to have some type of refreshments -it doesn't appear the guests even got to eat wedding cake.

Liz looks like she's Marlin's more attractive female clone, holy cow. She's also looking so grown-up. She's 16 and I wonder if she'll wait a while to get married like her older sisters did.

Bits of semi-snark:

Chelsy looks awful in every single picture, allergies must've been bad that day because she didn't look nearly so puffy even immediately post-partum. Guess Allison really did get her day to shine.

Anyone know what's up with the groom's family's lack of philtrum? Inbreeding, alcoholism, clef lip... Anyone got a guess? It appears to be maternally tied.

Overall a really lovely wedding album. Allison is going to love these pictures forever, and they will make very nice decorations around their marital home.

The random service had 4 references to steak being served to guests_ seems odd to mention it then have no evidence of a meal . Or speeches but given the wedding ones i wouldnt blame them for banning reception speeches

I think Allison looked surprised and laughed at the steak remarks, so I figured he was joking badly, like all of the men did during this wedding.

I wonder if Chelsey suffers from migraines and had one that day. I am detecting a distinct migraine eye in many of those pictures.

If she was battling a migraine, standing through those hate speeches must have been pure hell.

Poor little Rebecca Bontrager ended up holding three huge bouquets at one point in the ceremony, she looked like she was about to collapse under them.

On the plus side, she could hide behind them and freely roll her eyes at the infuriating remarks of the Patriarchs.

I am also suspecting there wasn't real food at the reception, based on the pictures. I hope all their Mennonite relatives--including dear grandma in the front row-- are talking smack about them for it.

And I hope they didn't leave all their guests cooling their heels with only bottles of water while the giant wedding party was away taking pictures--a huge wedding peeve of mine.

I would be surprised if there wasn't food served, only because meals have been served at Bontrager weddings in the past. But I agree that there is no evidence of food being served. Then again I don't have evidence of the meal served at my own wedding since we scheduled a break for the photographer during the meal time. One, she needed a chance to sit down, rest and eat herself. Two, I didn't want any awkward pictures of people eating. But we had a sit down meal, not a buffet style that I would have expected from Alison.

The Mennonite relatives would probably be horrified if there was no food.

I thought Rebs was adorable during the wedding because she looked like she was taking the duty of being a bridesmaid very seriously. Being the youngest Bontrager, I’m sure it made her feel grown up.
