Everyone I know that married as a teen either to have sex or because they were already having sex are divorced now. About 1/2 the people I know who married out of high school just because they wanted to, are still married the other 1/2 are divorced as well.  It seems the key is marrying for love not for hornyness.

Ben’s sister Jessica has been married over a year (I think) and has not announced a pregnancy. She is a police officer and is continuing her career, at least at the moment. So perhaps there is hope for Michelle.

Jessica also moved out of her parents' house and in with her boyfriend (not the guy she's married to.) She's kind of been the black sheep of the Seewalds, though her relationship with her parents seems to have warmed since her wedding. Despite the fact that she's no longer fundy she still shares the same repugnant political beliefs as the rest of her family.

Sorry I’ve posted the same information as Bluebirdbluebell.

Was she the sister who was on Say Yes to the Dress? I remember an appointment where one of Ben’s sisters wanted a sexy dress. Jesse was there.

@ExTeach713, yes Jessica was the sister on Say Yes To The Dress. I was impressed Gwyn, her mother supported her buying a  dress that was nike, even by some non-fundie standards.

I don’t think the Seewalds were ever super into modesty like the Duggars. I don’t think they all wear bikinis or anything. But I don’t think they were ever strict like the Duggars.

How did you know that Jessica was living with her ex-boyfriend? I don’t think I ever got that impression from her social media. I also don’t recall any indication of friction with her parents. It seems like Jessica has been living on her own terms since she turned 18 so I don’t think she was ever fundy. She was snarky about the Duggars and Jessa when Ben and Jessa were courting/engaged. She dresses in a “sexy” way at appropriate times (beach, night out) and is open about drinking alcohol. She’s been working as a police officer for a couple of years now and that has got to be a tough profession for a young woman. I assume she’s anti-abortion, but I bet she’s okay with birth control.

I'm the only one that noticed Jessa is posting a lot more about Henry than before?

I think she got a lot of heat on the post where Spurgeon broke Henry's race track.

Was it another Jana jewellery box story?

It was on one of her latest vlogs, Henry was building a race track and Spurgeon stepped on it and destroyed it. Jessa, instead of reprimanding Spurgeon, continued recording and did nothing, then when people started to point it out in the comments she said Spurgeon didnt do it on purpose, that it was an accident.

Henry clearly is not her favourite child, the fact that he wanted a pink bike may have something to do with that.

Out of all the older Duggar daughters the one I like the least is Jessa. There is something so self- righteous and smug about her that I just find myself unable to warm to her.

I don't follow her vlog. When did Henry express he wanted a pink bike?

Poor little guy. If I was his guardian, he could have a pink bike, a pink scooter, some pink rollerblades, whatever he wants.

He was in the store and kept riding a pink bike.  Because it was on the floor.  He didn't really want a pink bike.  What he wanted what a red & black bike.  Jessa finally found one on the upper bike rack.  Henry forgot about the pink bike at that.  But Jessa did verbally indicate that pink meant girl bike rather than letting Henry have a pink bike.  Also, note, the pink bike was actually too small for him.  Jessa went to got a tape measure - measured her son and then started paying attention to the recommended height ranges on the bikes they were looking at.

Not trying to defend Jessa, but I know a lot of non-fundie parents who would never allow their boys a pink bike in fear it might "make him gay" or some other crap. It is so sad and I'm glad that I also know couples who are way more supportive when it comes to overcoming gender roles. "Mommy has pink nails to you want some too? Come here, I'll paint your nails (insert random boy name)".

And many parents would be concerned that a pink bike would invite teasing. Not saying that that is an necessarily a good enough reason.

If Jessa was ok with a pink bike for Henry, wouldn’t she have just gone over to the Duggar Shed of material items and picked up a used bike from Hannie, Jenny, Jordyn or Josie? I’m sure there are a couple of pink bikes hanging around the shed. Borrow used and don’t spend anything.

He actually said out loud he wanted a pink bike, it was at the start of the video when they are still home, Jessa ask what color he wants the bike and he said pink. Then after he said red, and then Jessa went with that obviously ignoring that he had said pink first. She keep repeating you want a red and black bike all the time. Then when they enter the store first thing Henry does is run towards the pink bikes. He was playing with a pink bike in the background while Jessa keep looking for an apropiate red one. Both she and Spurgeon keep telling Henry that pink bikes are for girls the whole time. He seemed to accept getting the red one in the end, it was his second choice after all. But Jessa clearly was not willing to buy him the pink one that was his first choice, it is not like she hide it either, she recorded herself telling him pink bikes are not for boys.

I like this! "Grift new and don't spend anything" works for them, too.

yeah, he said he wanted a pink bike twice and headed for those ones in the store, while Spurgeon and Jessa redirected him to the blue 'boy' bikes. it makes no sense to be so precious about gendered stuff when you have a bunch of kids - will they get Ivy her own 'girl' bikes or while she be allowed to ride the boys hand me downs. I guess that's nice for Ivy if that's the case, but it illustrates why they heavily gender so much stuff - so families with both genders have to buy two of everything.

From his brother and parents. Probably his cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles as well. ?

My son has long hair and loves pink and sparkles. He has a pink kick-bike, that he chose himself. Sometimes he wears a dress, because he thinks it’s pretty. Sometimes kids ask him if he’s a boy or a girl and he tells them he’s a boy. He’s not hurt or sad about beeing confused for a girl, because he doesn’t think one is better then the other. Most of his friends are girls and no one has told him that being called a girl is an insult.

He’s six and in school now so I’m sure this will change soon. School seems so much more gendered then daycare and I’ve seen it happen to my friends and familys kids. I just try to equip him with an excellent self confidence and the knowledge that we will always love him exactly the way he is.

I’m guessing fewer TLC financed trips and events and occasionally wearing a mask when she goes shopping? Sounds hellish....

i know im a little late to the conversation here but im very much questioning whether or not miss jessa is actually pg. it seems her pics again are mostly of the kids or hidden midsections which are usually indicators. but i suppose she could be just trying to keep us guessing as well!

also it is inevitable... anyone wonder how long theyll live in that house? wonder if theyll ever build on, or just get a new house! ??‍♀️
