Duggars by the Dozen 39: Practicing Social Distancing by.... Having Family Night

I hope all these pregnancy losses lead the second generations in these families to finally understand pregnancy loss is a very common part of reproduction that happens even if someone never uses hormone birth control! Yeah, Anna and her husband will never use any but I really hope the others reconsider the lies they’ve been told about birth control and know it’s completely ok to say “our family is complete without kids or with ‘only’ one or two.”

It is a terrible photo. Jana looks so awkward in there. Everyone else around her... photo fail.

Hmmm is one of the Howlers getting a wife in 90 days?

"90 Day Fiance" meets "Counting On".  The crossover we never knew we needed.

Were they likely to be filming at the restaurant? ( it just seems odd they filmed another TLC show there then the Duggars randomly turn up). Jed & the other brother ( name escapes me) look really grubby so I assume any storyline is around them doing manly manual work. Maybe Jinger was fake flipping another car??

They always photoshop each couple in right? One photo per couple and Jana.

I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but I genuinely can’t believe that not one of the Duggar’s’ (or Bates’) have issued anything at all about George or Ahmad or any of the racial unrest in America right now.

The silence is deafening and intentional . Have I missed it? Have they ever said anything ever? Even Ben retweeting Flame or something?

They won't say anything. They are white conservative Republicans. Black lives don't matter to them.

You’re right. I’m annoyed at myself for being surprised. I’ve known their beliefs have been toxic for forever, but I guess there’s still been a part of me that’s assumed: they’re Christians! Surely they care even in some small stunted warped way.

ETA: I fully realize Christians can be racist, and that American Christianity contributed and still contributes to systemic and individual racism. I guess that all the more illustrates my internal disconnect over feeling surprised at their silence. Why does some part of me keep wanting to give them some kind of benefit of the doubt even when they’ve shown who they are?

If the shooting is done by a police officer, i am sure they will take law enfrcement's side. Not saying that is even remotely right. Just thats what they do. However, in the case where its clearly armed vigilantes hunting someone down, that's a truly spectacular failure.

Do the Duggars commonly post about political/current events?  I'm sure they HAVE but generally seems like it's mostly shallow stuff.

Yes, they have openly supported trump. This included  landscape.

I don't mean Trump or others they vote for. I mean actual events with a political tone. I don't remember them commenting on the Ferguson riots, but I also don't follow their social media beyond what is discussed here.

They do things like Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day or calls to prayer and voting - that kind of thing. I vaguely remember law enforcement support but that may be the Bates

Jessa did add John Pipers prayer for Minneapolis to her instagram stories...

I guess the rioting and calls for justice feel up there with covid in my mind...a national crisis that feels strange to keep silent on

Ben posted something to his IG story about Minneapolis, and a prayer for our city.

I think this is the extent of what can be expected as far as comment on events with a political tone.  A vague prayer for a whole city in upheaval as opposed to a firm statement of solidarity with the victim or a condemnation of the aggressor.   If they say something negative about the cop murderers they’re not “backing the badge” and if they sympathize with the black lives matter movement in any way they alienate their fan base not to mention JB&his payroll.  It would be interesting to know what the private conversations between Ben & Jessa sound like on this subject as opposed to their carefully curated social media posts.  Like, did they watch the video?

Also, I wonder how Jessica Seewald (not sure her married name now) being a police officer could impact their views. I'd like to think if you are a decent human being who is a police officer, you'd be outraged too. We know Jessica at least used to support Trump and I believe had posted a "blue lives matter" statement at some point years ago.

If you can't find your post it was probably moved to a better home.

This is exactly what I've been thinking for the past week. But, Moochelle is so deep in the fundie world, so even if she's been having sleepless nights thinking about her family members going through miscarriages without using any form of contraception... she's making some sort of excuses so she can keep on bathing in her bath of kool-aid.

Although it's horrible how Duggar girls and in-laws are just.. baby machines... in a way it's good that they're making their miscarriages public. They're all pretty young, heck, even barely having turned 20. Miscarriage is not just a thing that happens for women aged 35 and up. A couple people very close to me experienced miscarriage pre-30, and both times it was their first pregnancy.

Absolutely! It's so important that people know they're not alone. A friend of mine miscarried probably 18 or 20 years ago and she was furious when she found out how common it was. It wouldn't have made her miscarriage painless (it was a very wanted pregnancy), but the secrecy added pain to an already painful time. Her own mother had a miscarriage my friend never knew about until my friend miscarried. She was (briefly) convinced she was alone in miscarrying and then people started coming out of the woodwork with their own experiences.

I am happy that the Duggars don't believe that miscarriages are the fault of the mother, and basically an abortion. I believe there are some Latin American countries, where women can be punished for having a miscarriage, because they think it's actually an abortion caused by the mother.

Oh yeah, there's definitely a whole culture of "well, you can't prove that you didn't cause this yourself huh"

Well, I do think that there should be no taboo about this topic and people should be free to talk about this but I also strongly believe that everyone should be free to decide if they want to share their tragedies or not. No one has a right to know. That’s quite some entitlement. I don’t care if my stories help others if it’s too painful or upsetting for me. But the ones who want to talk should and they should not be silenced. And it’s their decision when they feel it’s the right time to open up.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.

It’s not supposed to be mosquito season right now but I still appear to have been bitten twice on the side of my foot. Bastards. I know I shouldn’t scratch but it’s so tempting… 😑
