Sierra 4: She Speaks More Spanish than the Vuolos and Dillards

assuming this is true:  dare I ask *why* she would buy that?

This is Sierra, why wouldn't she?

Like I said I'm not 100% sure she did, it just popped in my head. I have a friend who bought one a few years ago, she is super crafty and she makes a ton of shirts for her family, friends, co workers etc. You supply the shirts she will do them and charges for her supplies and her time if you have a lot of shirts.

If we weren’t talking about Sierra but a normal, balanced person, I might not comment on it. But in her post about going out to lunch with her grandma (and her children’s great grandma), Sierra writes that it was “an honor” to have lunch with her.

I love hanging out with my granny, we talk on the phone virtually every day, we enjoy sitting together having tea, knitting, and chatting. Still, I wouldn’t call it an honor to hang out with her. A blessing? Yeah, while I wouldn’t phrase it this way, it’s true. A joy? Absolutely. But honor sounds like the queen herself has graced Sierra with an audience.

Sweet baby Jebus, Sierra is so damn annoying! How long does she think an insta story should be?
Also, how she marveled at how her family of nine went through six gallons of water in a day, saying, “we are camels.” Then was commenting on how MUCH water they drank in a day. I don’t think Sierra understands camels.

I have a weird observation to make and the Sierra thread seems like a good place for it. Do you guys ever look at someone like who this thread is about and wonder to yourselves...what is it actually like to be a fundie? Don't they ever stop and say to themselves "this is all such bullshit?" "This feels wrong?" Etc. I mean...Trump? Honestly? The gun worship? The war worship? The hating of other people and cultures? The obsession with artificial gender roles. The distrust of education? All the fundy culture makes my head spin, my heart ache and my brain explode. How do they stand it? How do they feel happy and comfortable? It baffles me. I could not be an inelligent woman who loves my family and teach them those ugly ideas. Sorry for the rant.

I listen to the kitchen table cult podcast and both the (ex-fundy)  hosts have been very upfront with their delusions as teenagers, particularly as elder sisters.

I think it is time for the Duggar girls to model Sierra. I watched Sierra’s berkey story and tried very hard to look at it with unknowing eye. She is a social media marketing dream. She has a strong voice and a clearly defined audience. She’s got great engagement 8% is awesome! We find her annoying and a bit of a whack job but if she turned her stories IGTV episodes I think she would do extremely well. She has the potential to be a well paid influencer.

They absolutely are in pajamas here’s at least one of the sets:

What is up, Dominguez family finances?

Sierra has posted another story of a million Young Living oils, 2 diffusers, a starter kit and some books they purchased. She says that they ordered at 1am a couple days ago and is *ShOoK* that they arrived so quick. Also she's giving away a diffuser and a bunch of oils to some "sweet ladies"?

The other diffuser is for the older boys room because it stinks because it's where they change diapers.

She also just posted that her parents just love being grandparents to 10. And some nonsense about painting dreams in her heart that match Mark's.

I can't explain it, but she just makes me feel so sad. All those kids, all that needlessly wasted money. (Spent on the oils and crap, not the kids.)

I don't think anyone can understand the Dominguez finances. Sierra seems generous and thoughtful with her gift cards, care packages, and now diffusers and oils for friends, but I am sure they do a number on the bank account.

Sam's Club sells a 15 pound bag of baking soda for ~$8. If smell is an issue I would buy a bag or more if needed and put it everywhere to absorb odor. I have poured baking soda directly on a microfiber couch, carpet and a mattress to absorb odor, and it works well. Also on Amazon (and I am sure other places) there are charcoal air purifying bags (most are under $25 for a variety of pack) that are touted for being great at absorbing odor, and you just put them in the sun an hour a month to "recharge", and they should last two years. This is the approach I would take because my goal would be to get rid of the odor, not just mask it which is all the oils do.

Maybe this is her mad money from the little treats she makes and sells, plus all the partnering/giveaway stuff she does on IG. Who knows? All I know is that I’m a SAHM of soon to be three and my college educated husband’s salary would not support all the purchases they make even with the amount of kids we have now. I’m glad for them if they’re able to do legitimately do all they’re affording, but it looks crazy unbalanced to me with what I know about living on one income with children.

Adding for example: with some tax refund money, I spent some yesterday ordering some things for our daughter on the way (like throwing her a shower but it was just me clicking through a private registry I made for myself because this is a third baby). I couldn’t have just taken a chunk like that from our month to month finances - we couldn’t afford it. If I hadn’t been counting on tax money I would have likely done a little at a time. I’ve never had a daughter before so a lot of this was my own self indulgence of getting her some towels*, sleepers, crib sheets, blankets, etc in a color aesthetic I’ve selected for her. Fortunately, she’s due in spring and that makes this whim of mine possible. Also, if this had been a third boy, I likely would have spent maybe an eighth of this because I have boy gear coming out of my ears. I admit this was an indulgence of being excited about a girl. And why not? I like that each child has come with their own bit of excitement and each one has a few special things like a baby blanket with their name on it, for example.

That expenditure was for a kid though. We can always justify things for the kids we wouldn’t do otherwise. If I said to my husband something like “let’s spend $400 on essential oils” he’d look at me like I had three heads. I think I might tell him I want a six gallon Berkey later and see if I can convince him I’m serious for a while. I have to make my own fun.

*I have a funny thing where everyone in the house has their own towels that are just theirs and they’re color coded. Idk why it matters to me, but it does.

I so remember the days. My husband was raised by very, very, very thrifty, immigrant parents (who died multi millionaires when millionaires were rare). Anyhow, he inherited that fiscally responsible gene, and he absolutely accounts for every penny spent, every day. He routinely calls to see “ if I could have possibly spent X at Y store.” In pre -Amazon days that store would have been Target. He has it set up so that he is notified every time his credit card is used...So, I always worked and always had my own stash of dinero. I remember when were in our late 20s and I had to tell him that saving and investing money were wonderful, but we had to eat too. Now that I am retired and he is in the last couple years of his work life, I am so grateful for all his saving and investing tactics ( more so before the SM crashed this past week).

Holy moly, I had no idea how expensive Young Living products are. I’ve attached photos below of everything Sierra unboxed in her video. I couldn’t get the price of the starter kit she bought her friend as a gift because YL only tells you the price if you’re a member.

Diffuser for $63.75 if she’s a YL member. She bought two of these as gifts for two women who have blessed her life and marriage, whatever that means:

Diffuser for the room in her house that smells like poopy diapers:

And she mostly bought the “cheap” oils there are some that are $100+ dollars as seen below:

Spoiler

In total Sierra purchased the following amount of each oil I’ll list member prices below assuming she’s a distributor in order to get the discount. I think I read she had said they did that.

2 lavender ($24.25 per bottle)
4 lemon ($11.50 per bottle)
3 orange ($11.00 per bottle)
2 lime ($12.50 per bottle)
1 peppermint ($22.00 per bottle)
1 tangerine ($16.50 per bottle)

This order cost her at least $330 dollars...on oils. She just purchased a large order of oils a few weeks ago. This cannot be sustainable, also the entire time she filmed this video Brooks was crying in the background and running around outside in a diaper and tshirt.

Woah. That is a lot of money to spend and not even including the set and books. @lizzybee estimated her last YL haul was around $450 without the membership discount.

So that's around $600-800 (depending on if they signed up or not) on oils and diffusers in 4 weeks.

What goes through their heads that they think this is justifiable? She went on and on about loving Dave Ramsey and showing her wallet full of envelopes.

We're all wondering if they're getting help from his or her parents. I'm actually beginning to wonder if they're just people who put everything on credit cards and pay back with insane, unmanageable interest rates.

There is NO WAY this is a sustainable lifestyle for them. I am absolutely certain they will have more children too. So sad.

OKay i'm the same way, I specifically bought myself towels in distinct colors, however the other people in my household (My mum and sister) do not share this idiosyncrasy and don't understand why it's such a thing that I have these exact towels. I assumed maybe it was an autism thing, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one like this.

I don’t mean to say it can’t be an autism thing, but I’m not on the spectrum and love to have towels  in specific colors. Guest towels, on the other hand, have other colors. I also like to use different tea towels depending on the season (chickens and bunnies for spring/Easter), Christmas motifs for winter, pumpkins and leaves for fall. It makes me happy ??‍♀️

Are we sure she is not getting them for free?

She does have 81k followers, I think she could charge around $500 for a post by now. So why not get that in products?

I think it ensures everyone has good quality towels that they don’t have to share. Guests have their own, we have our own, boys have their own, and now new baby has her own. Sharing is awesome in a lot of situations but I really like everybody having something just their own with a set amount in this instance. It makes towel laundry make sense to me too.

Since she’s now doing a giveaway she likely got her stuff either heavily discounted or for free. I’m sure she wouldn’t just do that without something being in it for her. In which case I take back my snarking. My husband also pointed out to me that her tax returns with seven kids would be pretty amazing so that’s something to consider too.

What does a family with incomprehensible finances, eleventy children and an overwhelmed mother need? A guinea pig, apparently. They've taken in a guinea pig from someone who turned out to be highly allergic, according to her post the poor creature will rotate weekly among the kids rooms. So that happened.

I speak as an amateur guinea pig enthusiast with strong opinions and I most emphatically say she did NOT need a guinea pig on top of eleventy children and a dog. (Dogs?)

I think I'll take my seven guinea pigs over her seven children, even though one of my sows has been giving me sass all week.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?
