The dumbest thing about their “How to Wear Makeup in a God-Honoring Way” video is that Kristen reads like 1 verse (and yeah their hair is braided to boot), but the entire video is just them sharing their makeup bags, opinions, and other nonsense. They’re trying SO hard to be relevant YouTubers/influencers. But honestly, no one should take makeup advice from either of them.

I looked up Bible commentary on “broided hair,” and most of it agrees that it simply means “braided,” with a few saying it means “braided and also adorned with ornaments.” But then follows a bunch of stuff saying “Paul didn’t *really* mean ‘Don’t dress up fancy or wear jewelry or braid your hair—he just wants us to be modest on the *inside*!” Yet another reason why I have no use for people who claim to be Biblical literalists.

Anyone following Elissa Baird's engagement to a guy in Ukraine she met less than a year ago? I know GD is less cared about here than say r/fundiesnark which is obsessed with them, but I was surprised there wasn't more discussion of it.

I think it’s a terrible idea. I think she is going to be horribly homesick and traveling to the US all the time.

Ukrainian men tend to have some very strong ideas about how wives and women should behave. Andrii is quite vocally homophobic. Domestic violence appears fairly entrenched in that culture. Not knowing the language, being that far from home, with a man she’s barely spent time with? Recipe for disaster.

If she had the money she could travel back to the US for a visit but will she have money? Will he be in charge of the money? 

Who is he? Why will she move to Ukraine? When I was 16 I spent a year in Texas. I am a (western) European and I still had a huge culture shock. But moving from the US to Ukraine?? It's gonna be unbelievably hard!

We have a pretty “normal” family (meaning I don’t control my adult kids) and I’d do everything in my power to stop this train wreck if this was my daughter. I think the Bairds must be caught up in the novelty of it all and refuse to see how very bad this could turn out. 
 

If this was the normal fundie nonsense that we so often see, I’d just be rolling my eyes about it. But this seems really dangerous and it makes me angry at her parents.  Her father, according to their own beliefs, is supposed to protect her and he’s letting her make this huge mistake. Makes me furious.

They did an Instagram live together where Andrii praised Elissa for not being very independent so that he could “lead” her better. The clip is somewhere on reddit. She also agreed to move to the Ukraine (if the relationship went anywhere)...ON THE FIRST DATE.
