John's FB postings seem to have picked up again after a bit of a lull.

Dot point summaries:

-he drove four hours return to spend 10 hours witnessing 1:1. Five hours was with one guy, 15 minutes was with his Muslim mechanic (whose wife is Lutheran). Try not to annoy your mechanic John, you may find the rates go up.

-they've printed more bilingual copies of Romans and John. Kids are being used as labour to stack, assemble and load them. Well that is why you have kids I guess, the free labour. John drove a stack of them down to a church in the South, apparently talking to the Lord the whole way. Admittedly I do that too albeit probably not quite in the same way.

-John is printing tracts, especially focusing on exposing the deficiencies of non-KJV translations. He really is determined to supply Zambia with a convenient source of useful paper, isn't he.

-John Phiri and Grandma Rosina appear to still be sucked in. Mr Phiri unfortunately now believes that he would have gone to hell because he relied on his church and good works to save him and according to John that is Wrong. I would have thought good works would get you a lot further towards heaven than constant littering of tracts.

-Agape appears to be running a more successful Bible study group than her father with 12 girls attending. I hope that she is also learning more of the language, making some friends and quietly starting to think about things.

-Wonder of wonders John has a prayer request in for someone else - a missionary's wife (or possibly, you know, a missionary in her own right?) who is in what sounds like a bush hospital and is in pain. Poor woman, I hope she can get somewhere with better care soon.

-John's in laws arrived en masse and got one post with photos. None of them are coming out witnessing with him? Actually the bus getting stuck in the mud got equal post time.

-nothing further on Nehemiah, Esther or (praise the Lord!) John's back. Will wonders never cease?

Now, now - John is not flying vermin scum. His plane has no wings or engine, so the flying part of that characterization is out!

I can see what you are saying, but to play devils advocate maybe John and Esther do not want to share more about Nehemiah's medical condition until they have more information. Not defending John for being a pompous windbag thankful for his back being okay. But, it looks like Nehemiah may have a serious medical condition they want to keep a little more quiet while they run tests and figure out the best way to get treatment for him, outside of praying and waiting on the Lord for them to do the right thing. I know John is an egotistical narcissist, but it looks like Nehemiah, in my opinion, has a medical condition that may affect John's future Zambia exploits.

John’s updated on Nehemiah. He’s not had a seizure in three months thanks to

“faithfully doing the fish oil, vitamin D, and Moringa with him, and adding canned tuna into his diet about twice a week.

He has also been monitoring his stress levels, heart rate, and sleep using a little smart watch he got for his birthday.”

The Neurologist they were supposedly waiting for should be back by now, no mention of that, EEG, anything?

I'm afraid that means they opted for "alternative" opitions only.

Bionic miracle spine surgery on a tropical island for John, canned tuna and a watch for his son...

Bingo. John also said that 3 months has been the longest in between seizures yet, which gives the impression that he’s had more than just the two they’ve posted about.

I was trying to look up how long it was between the two they did post about. If there have been more that is concerning and more investigation would be good. It is certainly possible that as @NancyDrewFan1989 said they are keeping his medical problems private but I hope he is also being followed up by specialists, even if that is remotely.

Johnny not using this as a grifting opportunity? My child is sick - please send prayers and money11!!!1! -

Not unless they will get critizised for doing Jack shit - guess donators would expect a follow up

A narcissist caring about other people's privacy and suddenly respecting boundaries? - No way in hell.

Other people are treated as things - means to an end - fullfillings John's wishes - an extension of himself.

I decided to go cold turkey on Shrader back in early December because his attitude to Nehemiah's seizures was driving me up the wall.   I'm glad Little Nehe has been seizure-free for 3 months.

Thanks to everyone who kept John's Facebook postings current here.  You saved me much time in catching up.

To answer (or expand on) a couple of outstanding questions though:  John indeed doesn't celebrate Christmas.  Although if you sent him and the family gifts, which he would never hint at, in December he'd accept them.

John once quit a job as a used car salesman because he couldn't stand the sound of pagan Catholic Christmas carols playing.  And Alatheia was programmed to shout "Santa is a lie!" in a WA mall before they left the States.  Charming.

Visas:  Once they turn 18 the Shraderlings will need their own visas, work, and residency permits to stay in Zambia permanently.  I expect John will try to wiggle something through for Enoch,on the grounds that he is a student at the non-existent and non-registered Truthiness Biblical Historic Bible College.

Or they could possibly pass Enoch off as another fake "missionary,"  I suppose.  But it is hard to see why any of these kids could claim to have a real education or missionary skills needed in  Zambia to get permanent residency.  John's own "Masters" degree is from a now defunct unaccredited issuer of fake diplomas, BTW.

They have another year to figure it out.  Enoch just turned 17 on January 17.  I hope he escapes back to the States though.

@ifosterkittens asked:

Quote

Why does John hate the Duggars? Can someone please point me to where I can read up on this?

Sorry, can't help you with that.  I'm not sure where that idea came from.  I don't think Shrader has ever commented on the Duggars, even in the height of the Josh scandal.  Esther was in Anna's wedding as a bridesmaid, and Esther and John have been to a reunion with Keller sibs and their spouses, including Josh Duggar.

Shrader has called Gothard a "false prophet" and no longer espouses IBLP teachings though.  He's actually even more extreme Fundie in some ways than IBLP.  But I don't think he "hates" the Duggars.

Now I have to run away and find the photos of the Pecans and Nathan and David K on safari!

Careful.  The blinding whiteness of David and Pris in the African sun may pose a hazard to your retinas.

I was just speculating on wanting to keep it private. John and Esther may be trying to figure a few things out before posting more about Nehemiah. Sorry for the misinterpretation.

Thanks but too late.  Still, the rare magic mystical accordion sighting made it worth the damage to my eyes.

Could someone post any photos that are public for us blocked folks. Thant you in advance.

I'm too tech challenged to post photos from FB, but I think JillR has some photos.  And the Pecan's Insta is here:  https://www.instagram.com/davidncil/

The Pecans polluted Ethiopia too.  :(

There's a photo of them posed in front of a Welcome to Ethiopia sign but I haven't looked through all photos yet.  Someone at least chided the Pecans on Insta for voluntourism and white saviour complex..

I followed your link and looked at some of the pics.  I can't imagine what they spent for the matching tourist garb, but I hope it was made/sold by locals.

They did. It’s a cheap and easy routing from the US and if your layover is more than 8 hours you get hooked up with a hotel room, which is what it looks like they did.

This will probably sound horrible but I doubt it. The pattern matching on the younger girls’ dresses is just bad. I’ve yet to meet an African tailor or seamstress who can’t match up wax print. Such a person would not be in business long.

I hope the locals saw the Pecans coming and tripled the regular price.  Those kitenge shirts are definitely tourist merch.  You rarely, if ever, see local men wearing them, they prefer t-shirts or dress shirts and ties.  Or use fabric differently.  Women wear clothing made out of kitenge fabric far more often.  It can be gorgeous.

Agreed. If they want to.  Perhaps they sold Davy and co. the ones they'd messed up because that matching isn't good.

My assumption is they told the sewist to use as little fabric as possible for them. Pattern matching can use more fabric which would make it more expensive. ....which is really awful because whoever they paid they probably either stiffed or paid as little as possible.

Wax print comes in 6 yard blocks. You can’t get it in smaller increments unless you buy it from a middleman/lady who has bought it at the market, cut it up, and taken it to a tourist area to sell by the yard for twice the price the whole package actually costs in the market.

If you’re having something made you buy the fabric and take it to your tailor/seamstress.

Although the more I think about it the more I’m with Palimpsest on this one.

Thanks, @subsaharanafrica. In that case, I agree that@Palimpsest’s answer makes the most sense. I just hope whoever they got them from was paid and paid fairly. Sadly it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re all grifted, whether 100% or they only bought the fabric and grifted the person’s time & thread.
