Women Sues LDS Church Because They Reported Her Husband's Child Sexual Assault

This is fucked up 7 ways to Sunday. A women is suing the LDS church because the leaders reported her husband's child sexual assault to police. The husband confessed to sexually assaulting a minor to church leaders. A church leader reported the abuse to the police and now the husband is serving a 15 year sentence. The lawsuit says that the confession was confidential. She then says that the confession would not have happened if they had know that they were going to be reported to the police. This part is really messed up: the lawsuit is in her name, and 4 of her 5 children. The other child is the victim.

What a disgusting excuse for a mother she is! I hope all the children block all contact with her when they reach adulthood!

From a legal standpoint , this is an interesting case .  Does it fall under the protection of penitent privilege ? According to this , I would say no .  { https://www.reminger.com/insights-reports-615.html  ,  https://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/clergypriest-privilege.html }  Also , the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints doesn't actually have professional clergy , to begin with .  { https://mormonchurch.com/53/does-the-church-have-a-paid-clergy , https://mormonbeliefs.org/mormon_beliefs/mormon-beliefs-culture/a-lay-clergy-the-value-of-service/  }  And lastly , I just now came across this applicable precedent setting case , that was very similar in nature , which agrees with my assessment of the situation  .  { https://caselaw.findlaw.com/wa-court-of-appeals/1034177.html }

Another disgusting excuse for a human being crawling the earth. She is no mother.

Rant over.

( I'm  just so furious at Agolfo Twitler McFuckface the first tonight that every idiot is a target for my wrath) I can't recall who coined     The new name for trumpy but it's pure dead brilliant. Well done.

The Washington Post said that the person who reported this to the police is a pharmacist. Pharmacist in Oregon are mandatory reporters both at work and outside of work. I hope the victim lives outside of the home. They deserve to be in a loving, and supportive home.

I saw this on CNN, but that article didn't say the victim was one of their children. What a fucked up situation that poor kid is in - both parents are disgusting excuses for humans.

Non-priests confessionals are not protected.  Church officials are mandatory reporters. The LDS response to the “confession” is legally mandated and appropriate.

THIS WOMAN IS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT HER CHILD’s ABUSER THAN HER CHILD??? CPS SHOULD TAKE THE CHILDREN  AWAY AND TERMINATE THEIR PARENTAL RIGHTS.

There is no patient privilege in matter like these. The pharmacist acted appropriately.

What an appalling story.  I wonder how it reached the media.  I'm glad the LDS church reported him and hope it ends up as a deterrent to serious crimes (since the church will report in some cases and - I'm guessing - not promptly forgive) vs. a deterrent for church members to seek assistance from the church.

If the father lost his good standing with the church would this mean the rest of the family wouldn't be able to attend?

That poor child...I hope she's with people who care for her and will get her any help she needs.

I know there was a big ongoing scandal where the Jehovah's witnesses had covered up dozens and dozens of cases of sexual abuse on a staggering level. It would not surprise me to hear that there are some similar cases in the Mormon church. Telltale, an atheist You Tuber and ex-Jehovah's Witness discusses what makes a cult and their differing degrees of control over followers.

I'm a little amazed that there are a couple of villains in this story, and none of them are the LDS Church.

What TF was happening to that child that a pharmacist noticed?  My god. The children should not be left in the mother's care any longer.  Oh, poor babies. #firingsquad

My impression was that one of the church "authorities" just happened to be a pharmacist, and therefore a mandatory reporter.  It does beg the question of what might have happened (or not) otherwise.

Speaking of this YouTuber , I am sorry to report this development , which might even have some bearing on this case .
