Thread got closed while I was writing, but I did save my post first. Yay me for learning from past mistakes!

Quoted from @libgirl2

Quote

He had trouble with TH, so Those and Them were Dose and Dem.

That is a hard sound! While learning English in school we had a few lessons about that. I think I have managed it quite well by now, even though I have literally not spoken English in quite a while (years). I only read and listen to English on a daily basis.

Out of curiosity, do dialects make it difficult to write/speak proper English in the US?

For example in my dialect "der Butter" is correct, but in standard German it is "die Butter". I did wrote that wrong in my early years in school, the teachers did not mark that as mistake, due to it being dialect. Eventually I learned to switch to "die" in formal situations, but I stick with "der" in all other situations. I'm proud of my dialect and sadly many of the younger generations do not speak it anymore. (Easier in English with just "the".)

Clearly the CO producers are back to their tried and true 19KAC format- "look at these sheltered hayseeds they're so darn unspoiled." How many times is the culture shock scenario going to work???

Let's dip a baby in paint!?

Look they don't know anything about types of art! GOSH!

Can they raise a calf?(oh! Hi Anna?)

OMG  who has been to a FANCY restaurant? How will they cope?????

Let's trick them into eating bugs! (While worldly Jeremy looks smug)??????

Another family night?

AND-They're going to milk poor Joy's tragedy for everything it's worth.

Given some of the things Joy has said since Annabell’s loss, it’s possible she asked the producers NOT to edit out the pregnancy announcement stuff (I’m thinking of something on someone’s Instagram where she said she didn’t want to act like she had never been pregnant/Annabell never existed). And with so many pregnant at once, it seems pretty likely Joy’s pregnancy would be referred to in many future episodes and stories about “all the pregnant girls”, so it makes sense they kept the announcement. But I do think they should have put some sort of note at the end of the show explaining that the baby was tragically stillborn, so when the time comes they can just refer to some of the others going to comfort her or something and not televise the whole thing. I hope for her sake they don’t milk the drama, but I don’t trust them not to either.

I was going to say Joy said she didn't want to act like Annabell didn't happen, if her and Austin choose to talk about it on TV, the delivery the grief of losing the baby so unexpectedly, they can. I would hope they wouldn't make it a political anti choice statement, but I think we as a culture need to be more open and honest about death, we can't keep whispering around it or tip toeing around the subject, because it makes people uncomfortable. Death is one of the only two things we have in common with every other person on this plant, in that we are all going die eventually.

Listening to Si and Lauren in the Couples Retreat, just raised loud warning bells.

After 10 months of marriage, there is something far wrong there. She is backing away, both on a subconscious and  physical level from interacting, unless it's starring in a "must do" in front of the cameras.

If she can't sleep for babies crying ( complaining about Henry in the RV at the camp-out) and expects the same again at this  couples retreat, why not bring a pair of earplugs.

Her lack of participation did seem weird for filming. I mean I know how bad you feel first trimester, I get that part, but if she felt that bad...maybe she ought have just stayed home? Insomnia is also a pregnancy symptom, it's usually one of my first symptoms before I even miss a period and take a test. Idk if she's a typical light sleeper like that or if it's just from being pregnant, either way, looks like if she came to film she would have muscled through or just opted out. I feel like "Lauren's really not feeling good with morning sickness so her and Josiah decided to stay home this time," would have been a reasonable explanation for them not coming.

I wonder what Jeremy really thinks about the Duggars. When Kendra asked about the red snapper and Joe replied, “it’s a turtle”, Jeremy was quick with his reply of , “it’s a type of fish.”

They have to know that the script makes them appear really limited, right?  How horrible to be made a fool of in the commission of doing your job. Might as well donn shoes 10 sizes too big, a big red nose and juggle in the streets for a few schillings.

Jeremy loved being the savvy foodie?. What an asshat- they were taking Joken out as gratitude for the fake ' helping organize' but ended up culture shaming them??  Jeremy thinks he's the sh*t.

Having the cast playing stupid is the norm for the show. The scenarios are recycled. It's not cute anymore.( Was it ever?) I mean "smarty pants Jeremy" dipped his kid in  paint and was SHOCKED? at the mess that was made... please.

It's all a freak show for the bank of JimBoob.

If he really thinks the Duggars are such basic uneducated boors I have to wonder if he doesn’t make Jinger feel very small on a regular basis.

Jeremy and Jinger both seemed pretty unkind and short with Kendra in that episode. I really loathe them and I feel like I can't help but like Kendra so it just further fueled my dislike.

I watched the latest episode (shameful) and Lauren is once again so dramatic. She complains (again) about babies making noise during the night on the retreat but when she suddenly gets a headache during an activity, she goes to lay down- on the couch. Right by where all the couples are doing the activity. Not a quiet bedroom. I know the first trimester can suck but this girl is just a 100% drama queen attention seeker. She acts like she didn’t grow up in a house with babies. I hope she doesn’t harshly sleep train her baby.

I note in Jinger’s Instagram bio she describes herself as ‘lover of all things classical’. I know it’s meant to make her seem learned but doesn’t it show she has no discernment??

See Jinger takes on the personality of whoever she is with either to please them or subconsciously Because she is a follower and has not had a one of her own in years. She was Jessas shadow now she Is Jeremy’s.

During the mariage retreat, the young couples did an activity on commitment, and Pastor Caldwell said that your spouse needs to know that ''no matter what, I will never leave''.

No matter what? I really don't know if he was saying these words without thinking it through, but even fundies must draw a line, no? I really can't believe they would be willing to stay with a person no matter what? I get that their faith focuses a lot on asking forgiveness but each of these fundies MUST have a personal limit to what they'd be willing to forgive? For example, one of the spouse commits murder. Okay I'm going full dramatic here, I admit. But wouldn't that be a good reason to leave?

It seems so strange to me that your faith would dictate you to consider your spouse as the second most important thing after God... which would mean even staying with a spouse that would put you or the kids in danger?

Just clearing things up here: I do not wish to jump on Homeland Security speculations for now. I have been reading the thread just like everyone else, - I too am wondering what all of this is about about and I truly wish it is not the worst case scenario. But this post here is not about speculating possible accusations on my part. So we can set HS aside and just use hypothetical scenarios. Which to me is still messed up. Because ''no matter what'' seems more like a blind commitment than really following your moral compass.

She straight up admitted to faking a headache in order to leave because she didn't like the way that Josiah was building their nest in the teamwork project. I felt bad for Josiah being the only one without a partner during the "vow renewal".

Anyone notice that Lauren's sister was there at the end, but not Lauren? Random.

I laughed at the VERY pregnant Jessa shrieking "You can't kiss me yet, we're not married!" at Ben while wearing a wedding veil. ?

Agree. She has an extremely poor sense of self. Likely from highly critical parenting and dominance. I see no change in her since marriage so can only surmise that Jeremy has taken over as her new ruler. I just hope it’s not ever going to turn sinister.

Her adult sisters and brothers don’t seem to have that issue. Some people are just milk toast and weak by nature.

For sure, personality is a factor and for that reason she seems one of the most affected by her upbringing

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

      Happy International Women's Day!

Humanity may have some work to do, to improve gender equality, but I was glad to hear that France has taken an important step to protect healthcare for women (and people of other genders who can get pregnant).

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?

My niece is going to be a seat filler at this year's Academy Awards.  Seat fillers are asked to wear tuxedos regardless of sex/gender.  If you see a pretty young woman with very curly hair, it could be my niece.
