Duggars Raided by Homeland Security

I think the term “raided” implies a certain level of violence that wouldn’t be appropriate for the Duggars. They’re cagey and defensive, but they’re not dumb enough to shoot on federal agents. It’s possible that federal agents have warrants for Duggar businesses without it escalating to Branch Dravidian siege levels.

A raid can be just a search for evidence, and doesn't really imply violence.

I can see how someone might associate it with a more violent type of standoff, though. I've just become so used to hearing "FBI raids the offices of [someone in Trump's orbit] for documents" that I think of that type of raid first!

Maybe their response is a semantics issue? The article said Homeland Security was present not that they conducted a raid, so???

I think that’s what it is.  If HS was there questioning them, it’s not a ‘raid’.

Since it’s supposedly an ongoing investigation and no arrests were made, they can honestly say they aren’t a target of an investigation (at this point). HS isn’t going to tip their hand if it’s in the early stages.

But I think they are being disingenuous.  The not-raid spooked Anna to the point she was deleting pictures and Amy got really defensive when someone asked her about it.  Both had an opportunity to deny anything was wrong yet neither took it.  Why the squirrelly behavior if it was questioning related to an investigation of someone else?  And OBTW, if it’s ‘fake news’, why haven’t they stated they’re asking the local press to retract?

Is he the only unmarried Duggar not living on the compound?

I think he just said that for publicity purposes and to save his career. I don’t know how he would afford rent without working full time. Perhaps he’s grifted a space somewhere. I don’t really know, but I don’t really trust the Duggars.

Wasn’t there a post yesterday, it could’ve been on Reddit about child porn or something?  I believe it was Reddit, with a blurb about the raid that at that moment, the feds denied the raid altogether.

This is going to be interesting.  I hope this investigation isn't about abuse or sex crimes.  I do believe the Duggars are involved in something shady/criminal.  Crime almost always runs rampant in cults.  Rufus knows the Duggars and IBLP have hurt countless people.

Count me too as having no sympathy for Anna.  She actually had a way out.  Her brother offered to help her.  Most women in her position don't have that.

Now I'm gonna raid my pantry for some snacks and drinks.  I won't be going to bed anytime soon.

The humping is strong on the FB page.

Hopping off the rollercoaster for the night. A clearer statement from HSI would be greeeaaat.

We don't know what her brother offering to help actually entailed though.

Could have been anything from "Yay, you left that dickhead. Here are some food pantries in your area!" Up to taking them in. Most people can't just take in 5 extra people though.

I was thinking either A. He doesn't live at home. Which is interesting because the family presents as live at home until marriage.  Rumors of JD but he was much older.  Or, B.  He said that to shut that conversation down stat.

Does HS deal with Americans who have shady business dealings?  Like, the somewhat normal hiding of money and things like that with no violence or drugs involved?  I really want to guess Medicorps because they deserve it for at best loafing around eating Chic-fil-a with smiles on their faces as Bahamian people suffered greatly.  And the badges and guns were absolutely disgusting in such a situation.  Do they do that in majority white people areas?  In the Philippines? If they did actually go there. Not sure if it's confirmed Medicrap went to the Philippines.  Bunch of assholes.  I hope this whole thing is about that. Despite the lack of evidence.  Assholes.

I think this one is related to Boob more than anything else. Just a feeling...he is shady AF.

I think Jed is screwed. Even if he legitimately didn’t know anything, this isn’t good for his campaign.

He's running in a different district, so he has to have a verifiable residential address in that district. Whether he actually spends any time there is anyone's guess.

I found their denial to be weak at best. Lots of avoiding and pointing fingers at 'fake news'. The irony being, of course, if they had chosen a quiet, private life, none of this would even be an issue.

In the end, if it is about Josh, I feel quite certain that they may just push him under the bus to 'save' themselves.

I do have a lot of empathy for Anna, though. She is only doing what she has been trained to do her entire life. And not only that, I'm certain that her relationship with Josh and his family is unhealthy and highly manipulative at best. And she is heavily pregnant. That's a whole lot of processing and mental gymnastics to break out of.

It would be nice to think that this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back, but I'm not convinced. It's going to be an interesting watch.

They must be pretty confident that the investigation is not going to prosper to be denying everything so publicly. I hope that lie is going to bite them in the ass.

If an investigation is ongoing, I’m not surprised that information is vague at the moment. I guess we’ll have to see how things unfold in the following days and weeks. I’m not surprised that JB and Michelle are crying “fake news” since I’m sure they never think anything they have done after joining ATI is wrong.

On Twitter I searched the name Duggar and there are multiple tweets om Nov 17 about Josh Duggars HOME being raided. So what if HSI mean the Duggars as in Josh and Anna, but media assumed it was JB's which is how they are denying it now without it being a lie?

Oh this might do their KOA in before it gets off the ground!!!

For those that are unaware, Boob has a 99-site RV park that he is planning to operate as a KOA franchise.  Or, he was...

Ya know, the fact that it is trying to be a KOA just made my entire being want to roll on the floor under a load of irony.

For those that don't know, I spent the summers of my childhood living out of RVs around the country (we're talking 8 weeks at a time).  We kids were experts in judging RV parks, and we tended to rate KOA's highly--likely to have clean bathrooms. Likely to have showers (even if they were pay). Likely to have a pool.  Likely to have a swingset of somet type.

My dad agreed that those things were great, but tried to avoid KOAs.
Why?
Well, because he thought it was annoying as fuck and bad for families (esp those on a tight budget. which included us) that you were charged per kid, if you had more than 2 (and our family had 2).
KOA charges per kid.
My dad didn't want people charged per kid not because of us, but because he thought it was unfortunate for families w/ more kids.  You know, like the duggars.

That soaked into my brain just now, and I'm pondering if they could have afforded to stay in their own RV park for a weeks vacation if they didn't have a TV show.
