Duggars Raided by Homeland Security

Okay, just brainstorming......

Re cyber crimes: aren't the Duggar house computers closely monitored and a lot of content blocked? Although if someone was able to get around the blocks, how would Homeland Security be able to pinpoint who exactly was responsible?

Are there computers at Josh's business as well, perhaps with less restricted access...? I kind of doubt JB would let him have that, considering the porn addiction Smuggar developed in DC......

Welp, either the Duggars are lying or KNWA got lied to!

Or it could be very carefully worded, in that they say "our home" while saying nothing about any businesses.

I did wonder if KNWA simply got confused about which Duggar property was involved.

It is odd they would issue a blanket denial like that. I have a relative in the area that tells me there is nothing on news, FB or anywhere other than KNWA.

Could it be semantics about whether Homeland Security is a law enforcement agency or not?

5 News is another major news station in the area (it's the CBS affiliate) so it's not just KNWA.

The only thing the Duggars did not address in their statement is whether or not Homeland Security Investigations was present at their house. The fact they looked over that tiny detail shows that there is something going on. A spokesperson from an agency for the federal government would, in my opinion, not lie publicly about going there as part of an investigation.

I would think the news outlets would verify this before reporting....at least the reputable ones.

I did not believe the rumours. If Chelsea Pomeroy has her son this week it will be the best week for me in FJ history.

I mean, it's possible that when HSI said that they wouldn't dispute the information, what they really meant was just 'no comment'. Not disputing doesn't necessarily mean confirming. It's possible that they were misquoted or taken out of context by KNWA.

Could it have something to do with the older girls’ lawsuit? Is that a federal matter?

There’s no reason that would fall under the jurisdiction of homeland security, as far as I know

The KNWA article now says "Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) confirms to KNWA that agents were present at the Duggar’s Tontitown home last week."

They took away the word "raided," and that doesn't necessarily conflict with the Duggars' statement.

That would be kind of insane for a reporter to do though right? That’s a huge amount of extrapolation. Not saying you’re wrong but if that’s the case, wow.

Yep, it would be, but I've seen all kinds of insane things happen. Honestly, anything's possible.

I do think it's interesting that the Duggars denied being raided but did not deny the agency being there. It sounds like a blanket denial, but I suppose law enforcement agents could have come to interview them/look around without telling them they're being investigated, and the Duggars could choose to interpret that as them not being investigated.

Quote

An HSI spokesperson said, “[I do not dispute the information that] HSI was present there [Duggar home] pursuant to an on-going federal criminal investigation.”

That really doesn't sound to me like something they'd say if there was no truth there at all.

I'd like to know the exact question asked, though, since I was curious about the "there" in the statement. And also what the first part in brackets really was.

I think the term “raided” implies a certain level of violence that wouldn’t be appropriate for the Duggars. They’re cagey and defensive, but they’re not dumb enough to shoot on federal agents. It’s possible that federal agents have warrants for Duggar businesses without it escalating to Branch Dravidian siege levels.

This latest news isn't going to help Jed's campaign at all.  I thought it was interesting that he said he didn't live at the family home now.  Maybe he and Jeremiah are living in his district now.

Is he the only unmarried Duggar not living on the compound?

It could be that they're not the focus of the ongoing criminal investigation but that they're peripherally involved and HSI wanted to ask them some questions.
