Okay.  Wow.

so here’s Husbear...putting his face in boiling water? I don’t know. Her channel is noticeably absent from his subscriptions.

He follows Yogi? I fucking absolutely believe he’s responsible for getting her into this gross red pill world now. Poor girl, she’s probably doesn’t know better.

I met my now husband when I was younger and way more naive. I was infatuated with him and thought he was the coolest, smartest guy ever and would have fucking done anything to get his attention (I still think he’s great obviously, but I’m not about to adopt a new personality to impress him anymore ? he’d call me out immediately). I can definitely see her trying get gain his approval by following these radical beliefs

Here’s my new hypothesis, such that it is. I think Husbear was exposed to Red Pill via the “no fap” philosophy. I also think that “no fap” is how he got into Yogi, who is a vocal proponent of not masturbating and has been for quite awhile. (I make this connection because Caitlin talked about Husbear’s severe porn addiction on her Reddit account and how he tried to quit).  She meets him on this trip to Israel, where his opening salvo is “negging” her, a known pick up artist trick. Yogi, it should be noted, was also a PUA. Caitlin, child of privilege that she is, is not used to being anything less than cherished and told she’s beautiful and the greatest woman ever, deserving of surprise parties and Michael Kor festooned kittens. As such, she responds to it, kicking her low self-esteem into high gear. From there, she’s malleable to whatever kind of woman Husbear wants. She gets into contact with Roosh and Yogi via social media, and transforms into what Husbear wants—the little Red Pill lady. From there, she steps out with her marketing expertise and traditionally attractive looks to become what we know her as today.

This makes a LOT of sense and I completely agree. She needs therapy- not a fuck face “no fap” husband.

I also think mom saw through it, which is why she objected.

Sounds like another avenue to shamelessly post photos of herself so she can get attention for being conventionally attractive. Her self esteem must be lower than dirt.

Here's a much, much better answer to the weight loss ultimatum question:

Spoiler

Well the fat-shamers are certainly going nowhere, smug and superior as always. Ignoring that they know next to nothing about you or your situation. As if having some cellulite is a crime and being less than bodily perfect is inexcusable. As if anyone as they get older doesn't struggle with wrinkles and aches and bodily wear and tear and, yes, at least somewhat with pudge. As if nothing about you but your body or weight rightfully matters. Heck, they don't even know what standard either you or your spouse are using to judge whether you have excess weight to lose. You could be anorexic for all they know. Your husband could be grossly overweight himself and they'd still be on your case. They don't care if excess weight is from bearing his children or having little time to exercise because of all the work you do keep things going or from stress he causes. Nor do they care if this guy is at all supportive. Good grief.

Weight loss is complex. Nobody understands how hard it really is until they have been overweight and struggled with their weight over a long period of time. A lot of things contribute to lack of exercise and overeating, if that is indeed what is going on, and these factors are not easily overcome. People have different priorities at different times in their lives. You have to decide what you devote your time and energy to. Follow your best and highest instincts, but it's your life and you (not your husband or anyone else) must live it and live with it.

On the marriage end, your spouse clearly does not understand the meaning of marriage. He does not understand the implications of a truly long-term relationship. He does not get what it means to love for better or for worse. He needs to know that it's not okay to disrespect you and all you do and contribute based on your weight. He married you knowing your body would probably change over time; so will his. He knew that life happens and people and circumstances change. If he married you for a certain look rather than your character and qualities as a person, he was both deluded and foolish. It's selfish of him to act entitled to a certain version of you. Nagging and threats are not okay. I've never known someone to truly take a healthy lifestyle or weight loss seriously until that person truly and genuinely decided to make a healthier lifestyle a priority. But if his only complaint about you is some excess weight, he should truly count himself lucky.

Caitlin is giving advice with all the nuance and intelligence of Lori Alexander.

If you are so used to being valued for your looks, I imagine your self esteem takes a nose dive every time you get a zit, have a bad hair day, feel bloated from your period, or forget to put makeup on. I would hate it if my self esteem was based solely on my looks. Life will suck because when you age, your looks often go downhill thanks to wrinkles and sagging. I can’t imagine how she will cope with being pregnant. She will be miserable. She will never have 4 kids. No way.

Honestly, the pressure to be conventionally attractive is ridiculous, even if a woman has other attributes. I can't imagine how it would feel to have nothing else but your looks to measure your worth by.

It's sad to think about, too. Is this how she really wants to raise her kids? That her daughters sole worth is being attractive, virginal, and silent? Could she imagine giving the advice that Yogi gives women to her daughter? Or telling her son that only a woman's attractiveness and obsequiousness is all he should look for in a mate? When you put it in those terms, it's much more chilling and apparent that Yogi and Mrs. Midwest are garbage. I'm not shitting on traditional living--people need to go and do what they feel is right and what makes them happy. But the undercurrent of the traditional living movement is a nasty one, and one I can't imagine passing to future generations.

This is very interesting. She said this on 7/18/18. Now I really wonder what her parents think about her youtube "ministry", etc. I also wonder if her husband is trying to isolate her.

It appears as though her parents are now living in Michigan again. I also wonder if that means she's estranged from her two brothers, as well.

ETA: Oh boy. It looks like one brother is a conspiracy nutjob. The other has an Instagram account that Mrs. Midwest follows, but it's private. Seeing Nathan's twitter leads me to believe that this is her father's Twitter account. I was confused at first because it's chalk a block with Trumper stuff, and that confused me. But I reckon it's him.

She was beautiful before she lost the weight. That’s the sad part. She’s convinced herself her value as a wife & woman comes from being thin*

*I realize this is a societal problem and not a Mrs Midwest problem. I do, however, feel sad that she’s promoting the “thin is more beautiful” misogyny along with so much other damaging, hateful rhetoric she’s spouting.

And it's a very, very narrow definition of thin, too. I would certainly describe both "versions" of her as thin.

Wow. Yet a woman who is too tired for sex from chasing toddlers and nightfeeding babies, and/or who maybe gains a few pounds along the way as she adjusts to her postpartum body, is betraying her wedding vows, right?

So he's one of those who insists on "natural" beauty. Meaning, he wants her to just be that way with no effort, because effort would be "vain." But, I promise you, without some effort, most women don't just happen to look like Mrs Midwest. NOT EVEN MRS MIDWEST.

Ugh. *shudder*

I hadn't thought of Nikki Philipi in ages! I watched some of her beauty vlogs back when I was into that about 8 years ago. I remember her getting really preachy at some point when she was going to try and launch (or re-launch?) a singing career. There are so many dangerous pathways to this bullshit nowadays. It's crazy how quickly a teen girl could go from watching beauty videos to believing that the only godly pathway for her is to silence her aspirations and pursue this mandated version of femininity.

Gross and sad.
