The St. Andrews MLitt is a year, so he would have been done at the end of this past summer (August/September.)

Aha, I had wondered about him attending the wedding - I didn't know he was already done. Where to next? I'm sensing that less has changed on planet Phillips than I hoped.

My post count title proclaims the Prince of Darkness my FB friend - is there a story to that? (other than the obvious that FJ is on the wrong side) If there's an amazing rant on Satan & FB behind it, link please...

Speaking of the 'Prince of Darkness': if you ask the 'right' people, that is what San Diego Christian rock band P.O.D.'s name really stands for (a secret message that, rather than being Christian, the band thirsts to corrupt your soul). I'm not sure what DC Talk stood for to the R&R panic crowd (though I do know they were hated) - but I've heard two stories for AC/DC (a band that was at least upfront with its Satanic credentials!). One was that the two currents refers to the band members being bisexual (I may own some bi appliances! - what do they do when my back is turned? - dance all night with smurfs?). The other explanation was that they were AntiChrist/Devil'sChildren (which is far more interesting than an interview I heard with Angus Young - where he said it was from the packaging of a piece of studio equipment, and 'looked cool'). Any other fun fundie rock and roll 'facts'? (I recall once, long ago, physically extricating myself from the panic-fear-grip of an elderly church lady who insisted I come straight to her house to watch a video on the great Satanic R&R conspiracy.)

Yeah, I think he's wrapped things up at St. Andrews

Then he, Delaney, and the baby spent some time in Germany with Doug's sister Alex (who seems ridiculously nice. How is she related to Doug??)

I think they've only been back in the states a few weeks at most. No idea what he'll be doing now, his LinkedIn still says Veritas Press.

Yeah, I generally don't push the sins of their tool of a father onto the Phillips offspring, and honestly think a few of them have a legit shot at being well-rounded adults, but JT... I dunno. Something's off.

Maybe it's because he was steeped in the VF tea set the longest.

Clicked over to his Instagram page. Interesting that he’s followed by Jinger Duggar. Didn’t think ATI and VF ran in the same circles...

Yes indeed. More and more 'somethings' each time I hear of or see him. Watch this space - and then warn people quick! I've the very strong feeling we're far from having seen the last of him.

I agree with those glad to see Justice's relationship (at the very least) moved to the 'back-burner'. Would such a public courtship have been permitted to fail back in the day? Of course it's normal for your first attempt at a significant other to be an epic fail - and to move on the wiser for it. The real tragedies are the ones that go: first kiss at the altar; seven year marriage with multiple spawn; train wreck. Or rather, as Charlie Proctor said of Prince Andrew's Jeffrey Epstein interview:

Quote

'I expected a train wreck. That was a plane crashing into an oil tanker, causing a tsunami, triggering a nuclear explosion level bad.'

'Baby' Doug with Bill G. Before the beard - back when manly was the last word anyone would use to describe Douglas Phillips, Esq.

During the years that DPIAT was writing "Doug's Blog" on the VF website, JT was the frequent topic of his papa's purple patriarchal prose. I remember his birthdays being an especially big deal: "On this holiest of holy, most auspicious of days, my firstborn child completes yet another journey around the sun," blah blah blah. It was truly gag-worthy. The poor kid has much to overcome.

Veritas is an offshoot of Ligonier, and touts itself as classical homeschooling education for Christian children who "love it."  JT is set for life through a Ligonier adjacent business, being married to a Sproul daughter and all.  I wonder if she received any kind of inheritance when RC passed.   Right now he's a "sales manager" but I expect him to move right up the ranks.  I have to say that his advanced degree does work with Veritas' emphasis on classical content.

I recall this fun comment from years ago about St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM, which uses a Great Books/classics curriculum: Students who graduate from St. Johns are perfectly prepared for employment in the 16th Century.

I wonder if any women work at Veritas.

Yup, and that's a serious life experience, the kind that leads to emotional growth.

I could see Justice setting up a successful adventure guiding business in the West, Southwest, Alaska, Pacific Northwest, maybe globally.  His niche could be as a Christian company, perhaps family focused, because it's a very competitive industry and ya need a hook.   He could easily get a job with a current company as a guide; I'm assuming he's sufficiently personable, but ya never know.  If he needs a lot of stimulus/variety/activity and craves being outdoors, it could work.  The sisters (or even Beall) could help out in the office; at least one sister is a runner and no slackers on the fitness end of things.  I'd be curious to know where he landed and is living right now.

Alternately, personal trainer.  IIRC, he was a serious triathlete for a time, but again, very competitive business.  In my city, you can't swing a (metaphorical) cat without hitting a personal trainer.

My late husband(a major AC/DC fan) said that he heard that it stood for “After Christ(the)Devil Comes.”

He posted an IG story of himself getting a driver's license in TN, so maybe he's living there?

Wouldn't be surprised if all of Denise Sproul's children received some kind of legacy (money? property?) when Sproul Sr died, or at least expectations of legacies upon turning 18 or 21 or whatever.

Conversely, it seems likely that Spanky may have been cut out of any significant inheritance from his father. I could see this being a major source of rage for Spanky & Lisa.

I've always suspected that an inheritance from RC Sr. funded Josh & Delaney's year in Scotland. That all seemed to come about at just the right time for the estate to have been settled (which usually takes a bit, even if things are uncontested).

Settling into Tennessee for awhile makes sense. They both have family there, not to mention the general overrun of fundies in the area.

Is that their site? Yikes. And that BarnItUp promo sounds like a parody.

That's Doug's daughter Faith on the cover, but I don't know if the Phillips have any other association with it.

It looks like it's an offshoot of this site:

https://cheaterslickculture.com/

Their Facebook page doesn't really ping my fundydar, but I haven't looked at it too closely:

It looks like this is the main guy behind the print magazine:

Gag me - Trent Sherrill's website has a section devoted to "Gals." Right next to the section labeled "Family."

Looks like he may be Doug Phillips' newest intern. ?

He's got an early Operation Meatball era photo of Liberty, Jubilee, and Faith under the Gals + Auto/Moto section. I think I've seen it before (it's a good five years old), but I had previously assumed Doug took it.

Sherrill's name also comes up in connection to Dick's Classic Garage, the auto museum in San Marcos (now closed) where they staged the first, rather grandiose Operation Meatball event about a year after the Fall O'Tool.

Apparently Speed and Kulture is a reboot of another niche magazine called Traditional Rod and Kulture Illustrated.

Quote

I wanted to post this to give some clarification of what is going on with Speed and Kulture Magazine and Traditional Rod and Kulture Illustrated. Long story short is, Trent Sherril and myself (Chuck Stanfill) were offered an opportunity to take over Traditional Rod and Kulture Illustrated, after a few talks with Zombie, the hard decision was made that financially it made more sense for us not to take over TRK but instead start our own magazine, Speed and Kulture. Speed and Kulture will remain true to most of what everyone loved about TRK, but with a few changes that we hope everyone will enjoy. One of the things I have seen brought in different places, is the question about the subscriptions. We have decided that Speed and Kulture will honor anyone’s subscription that they had for TRK. To receive this offer, simply messaging on here or send me an email (chuck@speedandkulture.com). If you want a new subscription head over to speedandkulture.com today and subscribe. We just completed a pre-order for shirts, but we will have shorts available shortly a speedandkulture.com and cheaterslickculture.com.
Thank you all for your support on this and we hope you end up enjoying Speed and Kulture!

I'm glad you brought this up, I was confused when I saw that.  I figured it's a culture I don't know, or something I don't understand.  :P

@VVV, my sister has done countless weddings, and agrees. Most of them have been in Catholic churches, or other churches with strict guidelines, which makes things a *little* less tense.
One couple had a guitar-playing relative added on at the last minute, without attending the rehearsal, and he strode up in front of the altar mid-Mass, and from what I heard, the priest damn near had a stroke.

Re wedding photography: At every Methodist wedding I’ve ever attended, the minister gets up before the ceremony and announces that there will be *ABSOLUTELY NO* photography during the wedding, and that the ceremony will be re-enacted after it’s over so pics can be taken. I think that’s brilliant: at one Catholic wedding, so many of the groom’s relatives, who didn’t seem to be familiar with American customs, kept rushing the altar in a disruptive way for close shots that the priest had to stop the ceremony and order them to sit the eff down. (I was surprised, as the groom’s father was the deacon of the parish.)

From Beall’s Blog:

“Honestly, (and having delivered 8 babies from my own body I recognize how ridiculous this might sound but if you have been on both sides, maybe you will relate) watching my darling daughter in law endure labor was awful. I told Doug afterwards, and then told him again and again for days after that, ‘Icannot believe you went through that agony with me 8 times.’”

Ohhh, ferthaluvva. She spent a month in Scotland with JTeefs et ux, helping with the baby. And then she mentions DPIARBT, sucking mightily up to him because he observed her giving birth (while she was doing the actual work). Who agrees with me that these multiple convos with him took place over the phone, and that she hasn’t seen him in person for months?

Their relationship at this point is beyond strange. They just need to officially separate already. Beall needs to quit pretending. It’s pathetic. My husband watched me go through labor and delivery twice. He didn’t like it and almost fainted, but he will be the first to tell you it was absolutely nothing compared to what I went through.

I love baseball but I'm dreading the new season because the White Sox ownership is THE FUCKING WORST. I watched Dominican League Baseball (Lidom!) over the winter and fell in love with their joy, spirit, and exuberance. The broadcasts were in Spanish and my Spanish is pretty weak but I loved catching phrases and repeating them. Bombe! I'm sad about MLB and Commissioner Idiota's busywork rules. But I love baseball, always and forever.
I guess I don't have a point. Just bitching. Te amo mucho, Lidom!

Feeling ragey this morning. I have a doctor's appointment this afternoon in the hope of getting help for an ongoing injury. I went to a (different!!) doctor late last year who completely blew me off. He wouldn't do diagnostic testin, he refused to send me to a specialist, and he just told me to "take it easy" and "take ibuprofen." I'm hopeful for today's appointment but I'm also feeling a SEVERE amount of rage at that doctor from last year!

Well, the rash is back with a vengeance. It never completely cleared up. I saw the derm yesterday and they did another swab and yup, raging infection again, still? It is definitely strep skin infection. I am getting so damn tired and run down from this. Who the f would immagine being hospitalized freaking TWICE for a rash?
