Since dawn’s ass crack is showing up early again I went and got a ride in this morning at sunrise.

I made sure to layer up.

I’ll probably do some more butt crack O dawn riding this week.  Just have to remember where I put the GoPro.

Dawn’s ass crack rides again!

It was about 21 degrees when I went for my ride. I’m still thawing out.

That's dedication!  With the wind chill factor generated by riding, it was probably near single digits.  It's pouring here, so I hit the nice, warm elliptical in the fitness center.   ?

Thank you!  :)

To be honest I’ll probably not do too many more of these this year If it stays as cold as it has been. Just have to see how the weather is going forward.  I did want to get out and do one more time lapse this year since DST ended.  Got that in so I’m pretty much set.

I might do some riding post MPRE Saturday since it’s supposed to be up in the 40s Saturday. I don’t think I’ll be doing much tomorrow since it’s supposed to be colder than a Branch Trumpvidian’s heart tomorrow.

Ditto.  It's a balmy 67 degrees right now at 8:30 am, but about 4 hours away from the arrival of a cold front.  Tomorrow at this time it will be 30 degrees or a wee bit above with a hard north wind.

Still, this weird warm/cold seesaw is what Texas winters are all about, so there will be nice riding days in the 60s starting Friday.

Cording to Strava I ride through the brewery this morning.

And the people at work think I’m crazy because I rode my bike up from the parking lot in single degree weather.

And one this afternoon back to the car.  If we get some relatively warm days I might be out again otherwise it's about time to put the bike away for the season.

@47of74, from glimpses of your helmet and the cuff of your jersey, we have a similar hi-visibility philosophy.  I always wear a neon yellow jersey on the road and especially in my city commutes and have my front blinky going.  Also have a new helmet with neon yellow accents on order.

It’s definitely needed around here especially when out in the roads and when I’m out when dawn’s butt crack shows up. The lights on my bike are always on anytime I’m riding.

What a beautiful, but chilly, morning.  That cloud formation looked amazing.  Glad you made it out for another ride before the season ends.

Thank you. It was actually early this afternoon. It was warmer out today than what it has been lately. Supposed to be up in the 40s next week. Probably won’t go out tomorrow since it’s supposed to rain.

Managed to get a good one in this morning.

Just over eight miles.  And with that I have over 100 riding miles this month which I consider a feat given how the weather has been this month.

Got a decent one in today.

The wind was out of the southwest so heading south back towards the casino was a bit more of a workout.

This morning’s ride.

Yeah I think this might be it for the year. Supposed to rain or snow tomorrow then afterwards it’s supposed to get cold.

Great ride today with a small group of five, then four for the last five miles.  Great riding on a paved path shared with runners, mtn bikers getting to trailheads, families with kids on bikes or in strollers, dog walkers, then onto a large mostly deserted sidewalk along a toll road.  Midride we stop for coffee/tea at a Whole Foods en route.

Total of almost 30 miles.  Texas is doing the Texas weather thing.  Started out cool and foggy, about 50 degrees at 10 am; by the end of the ride it was 75ish, by late afternoon it was 80 degrees.  Tomorrow morning a cold front arrives, it won't get over 51 with a hard north wind and a low in the 30s Monday night.  Cold fronts suck warm air up from the Gulf of Mexico; a day or two of glorious shorts and tee shirts weather is followed by a cold front. This will happen all winter, so we get some great riding days.  Most people wrap it up if it gets down into the 40s during the day.

I was hearing the siren call of the bicycles the other day in Lima.

If it wasn’t for my hand and wrist getting fornicated up I might have rented one and went for a quick ride along the bluff.

@47of74,  I'm getting an exercise bike for Christmas.  It's not a Peloton, but I can put my laptop on a little shelf and "ride" along with a video of someone else actually riding a bike out in the world.  Yep, I'd be riding along with you!

I was actually going to use the bike today to go to and from work.  Not from home, but from the riverfront parking lot.  But the chain slipped and got all jammed up.  Fornicate.  So I wound up dropping the bike off at the bike shop so they could fix it.

It's supposed to be close to 50 on Thursday so depending on what the weather does I might get a ride in then.

Fuck. The chain is broke so they have to order a new one.

Having seen the forecast I took my bike with me down to Des Moines and went out on a ride yesterday (along with lots of other people).  And of course the YouTube time lapse demon has returned to the FJ land.

Wound up being about 11 miles total.  Longest ridge in several months. Felt fornicating GOOD to get out and ride.  I made sure to reward myself with a DSM area brewery pit stop.

Here's today jaunt around Dubuque.

13.5 miles.  It was pretty nice today with temperatures up in the 60s.  It was windy but it wasn't a cold wind for once so other than providing a bit more of a workout it wasn't too bad.
