Joe Rogan is now following T.Rex Arms on Instagram. I am really tempted to send an email to him detailing all the Botkin doings of the last decade.

Re: Rogan & the Botkins. He's a hunter so there's that.

Also, despite his "endorsement" of Sanders, a lot of what he says he believes and many with whom Rogan associates are actually pretty conservative. He may have more in common with the Botkins than you'd think.

For sure, I understand he has a lot of conservative leanings, however he seems to place high value on freedom of choice. I genuinely wonder what Rogan would make of SAHDs.

I imagine most people would find “Return of the Daughters” a very cringey watch. Joe Rogan included.

Big fan of Joe; his leanings are much more libertarian than conservative.

I have a hard time thinking that the same man who advocates for psychedelic usage (essentially freedom of consciousness) would share many of the Botkin’s beliefs, aside from possibly on gun issues.

Potential patriarchal suitors beware: contrary to our previously advertised policies, this pretty maid may not be keen on breeding.

Still plenty of time to knock out five, six or more kids before menopause.  Each.

What's the over/under that either will ever marry?

Betting 6-1 neither of them will ever marry. Daddy Duck Biologist will never let a suitor come within 1000 feet of either. No one will ever be good enough for the Royal Botkin Princesses. Whose "careers" thus far have been to adore and serve Daddy DB.

The irony of the unmarried SAHDs, who are supposed to have godly young suitors flocking to their door (because patriarchy), but will never have anyone court them will be completely lost on Daddy DB.

If Geoff did approve someone or two someones, chances are they'd be as bad as or worse than he is.

In that case, better the devil you know...

Everything I’ve read, from people here who were acquainted with them in real life, makes it sound like the maiden princesses have rejected all comers. That could actually be an entertaining fairytale…

I don't think there's anything about getting married or not that reflects on a person's value, but I know that THEY do. So I'm just gloating a little bit that I married at 28 (22 years ago, still together and happy). Take that, Botkins! I married, stay-at-home-wifed (while working on my freelance career from home), stay-at-home-mommed and homeschooled (while writing books from home), and am very happy in our church and community. By their standards I don't deserve any of this. I'm not submissive, I'm not ornamental, and my housekeeping is lax (as is my husband's; we're just very chill).

They're supposedly perfect but they're not fulfilling the brief. What about the ovaries Geoff prayed over??

To this day, the whole “pray over the ovaries” thing still squicks me out.

@Petronella, I’m reminded of Be-All’s huffy letter to Lourdes at the beginning of the trial against DPIARBT, archly warning her about what her accusations would do to her “marriage prospects” (in the freaking 21st century, not the Victorian era!). Meanwhile, Lourdes (admittedly after a brief marriage to a boyfriend who had been giving her moral support—because she’d been raised to think marriage was all-important) is getting an education and, from what I can see on FB, living her best life. And Be-All is desperately propping up a sham marriage that’s virtually dead and spending her golden years as a home health aide* instead of the queenly SAHW of a Great Visionary.

*A very close friend worked as a home health aide by choice, and was dedicated to her work, which was often thankless (I could write a book on the callous incompetence of her management company). It’s a kind of work that’s absolutely essential and undervalued—and something Be-All would almost certainly have turned her nose up at during her Gilded Age.

Lourdes switched from a STEM major to fashion design awhile back.  She should be graduating soon, if she hasn't already.

Those doing this kind of work as well as hospice folks are a special and wonderful kind of compassionate person.

A trifecta for me would be opening up FJ and seeing meaty updates on the Botkins, the Phillipses, Spanky and Lisa AND some huge upheaval in the Arndt household, like one of the boys doing on a date with a penguin.  Help a girl out, would ya?

@Palimpsest  I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Geoff did wait until his father was buried before he started rattling off those lies, but I might be wrong. I didn’t even know about the Marxist claims until several years after my grandfather died. I’ve never been so shocked by anything in my life, and I’ve seen A LOT in my days. My grandfather in particular was incredibly religious, gave most of his money away to support various Christian missionaries/missions, and was the antithesis of anything that could be remotely be construed as someone of that political bent.

I know this is from pages and pages back but I had to bring it up. I have an acquaintance that studies American labor history (and is also a democratic socialist) who says that his phenomenon is fairly common among a certain type of (mostly) male Baby Boomers that are on the far right or run in Neo-Conservative circles. They think it gives them some sort of extra credibility so people take them seriously when they say "Actually [raising taxes on the wealthy/feminism/public school/unions/making sure people don't die from not having healthcare/women wearing pants etc.] is part of the grand plan to allow Communism to take over America! I would know, I was raised by hard-core, committed Marxists....." Most people are pretty ignorant about the history of the left in America or what being a Marxist actually means so they get away with it.

The second you ask any kind of follow up questions about their parents or their upbringing the whole thing collapses. At most you usually find out that these hard-core committed Marxists were just your average New Deal Democrat common among their parent's generation and they couldn't define dialectical materialism if they tried.

This. I am a home health aide of 8 years here, I got trained and certified before I graduated high school. I was in a situation where I still needed to live at home but I certainly was over being a stay at home daughter. However my brother is special needs and he had some hours given to him by the state, and it made sense for me to be his caregiver. I still had friends who were stay at home daughters whether they realize it or not, and I recommended this type of job. It was only two weeks of training, the test was not nearly as rigorous as other medical boards here in the state, and they could choose who they want to work with. I avoided working for agencies for about six years, (I just worked directly through DSHS since I knew so many families with those benefits) I only went to start working for agencies when I needed a very specific time frame and nobody I knew had the hours I need it when I began massage school.

But since it was work outside of the home, many chose not to do it. I knew one stay at home daughter who is still very hard-core about that lifestyle to this day and she is nearing 30. She would go and babysit for a large quiver full family we knew and I was never sure if they paid her or not. I knew all of these people from Vision Form related events, even though some of them had special needs children in their own families, there was still tons of snobbery regarding disabled folks. Very Christ-like, right?

There is no doubt Beall would have looked down upon  girls who chose to go into that field, even though in my opinion it is the perfect job for a stay at home daughter. But oh no, it involves a woman getting paid *gasp* and worse yet it involves caring for people in families who might have used contraception *faints* so it’s obviously of Satan, right?

I avoided working for agencies for about six years, I only went to start working for agencies when I needed a very specific time frame and nobody I knew had the hours I needed when I began dropped out of college and began massage school. The agencies, or in your friend’s case the management companies, seems always very disorganized and not very helpful. I only remain with the one I am currently working for because I have this great lady that lives just a few miles away that I like to work with a couple days a week. My brother is doing well enough that he no longer needs me to be his caregiver. But yes it is generally a very thankless job, it used to be very rewarding for me when I worked with special needs children, but their family lives and their parents is what made it really hard. Of course I never had to go through anything close to what Lourdes went through.

The other night my parents decided it was time for another "if God wants you to get married He won't just send you someone, you have to actually look" type spiel.  I wonder what the Botkins would think about that.  :P

Ah that would be a good day at FJ. Could we have Bradrick! too?

I've been checking in on the Sprouls, but they are pretty quiet on the family front outside of some posts from Lisa about how constantly she prays for her daughters, plus a few godly warnings to LIARS.

Maybe her putative daughter who was posting here will make another appearance.
