The Cook County Sheriff's office said a 49 year old private school teacher in southwest suburban Burbank has been charged with sexual assault and soliciting child pornography in connection to incidents with two of her students.

Teacher at Jordan Baptist School in Burbank charged

Police said 49-year-old Shannon Griffin was arrested on Monday after a month-long investigation. Griffin allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with an underage student at Jordan Baptist School where she taught, and allegedly both sent nude photos and videos to that same student and another underage student at the school. She allegedly requested nude photos from the students as well.

Police said the inappropriate conduct began in 2013 and continued until March of 2019.

Griffin, who taught kindergarten, is charged with five counts of criminal sexual assault, one count of solicitation of child pornography, one count of distribution of harmful materials and one count of grooming. She is due in bond court Wednesday.

Her students recalled Griffin always wanted to be close to them, and a 2014 graduate of Jordan Baptist remembered one boy in particular.

"She would be really close to him," said Yhaneera Aparicio-Armas. "She would put her arm on him and she would sit too close to him, especially when we would have chapel."

A student's mother, who did not want to be identified, got wind of the inappropriate and explicit messages months ago.

"The pictures with her in undergarments are the recent pics, the video something they've been circulating," the mother said.

"It was really kind of what disturbed me, because I was like 'Ew, I hung out with you,' we did all this, hung out, talking to each other," Aparicio-Armas said.

Griffin was also once responsible for cracking down on the school's dress code.

"She would write me up and other girls and, like, how ironic that you're telling us how to dress, us how to be modest, and be Christian women, and you turn around doing the exact opposite," said Aparicio-Aramas.

Griffin's husband is the pastor at Jordan Baptist School and her children are also employed there, police said.

"When you're a teacher you're looked up, and what has taken place here is devastating to me as a parent," said First Deputy Chief Marlon Parks. "When I drop my kids off at school I expect a certain type of result, and this is not the result that these parents or these family members ever could think of."

Due to the nature of the allegations, the Department of Children and Family Services was also involved in the investigation.

The fact that her husband is the pastor there and she sat way too close to the boy most likely during his preaching, is disturbing. And then her kids work there too? What kind of fucked up school is this? That whole family better be investigated and if they helped cover anything up they should be fired and charged.

The website for both the school and the associated church are currently inactive .  However I did find this review .   " They are a cult.  I have had countless unfortunate and awkward dealings with church members.  They have rotten attitudes.  They refuse to speak with or sometimes even acknowledge "outsiders."  For example, I was shopping for my child's school supplies at the dollar store a couple months ago when another customer presumed I was an employee and asked me for the pipe cleaners.  When she realized I was not an employee (I answered her question anyway,) she refused to even look at me or respond to my assistance.  There have been several other occurrences between your members and I, all with the same outcome.  This is the standard attitude everyone receives from the members.
Please note, they follow very strict, archaic, misogynist beliefs.  Unmarried women must obey their fathers (almost in a creepy, slavery-esque manner,) then obey their husbands upon marriage. My hope is that the school and possibly the church can’t survive this scandal. It sounds like a horrible little fundie church and school. But my hopes are not high. So many Christians seem to breeze through scandals by just asking for forgiveness.

I hope so too. The accused woman's husband, the principal of the school, is a graduate of Hyles-Anderson (IFB, Jack Hyles, and his son-in-law Jack "Polished Shaft" Schaap, and all their sexual shenanigans).

Apparently one of the church members talked to the husband and he denied the pictures were of his wife (maybe that's what she told him). And, apparently during her first court appearance the wife's attorney also denied the pictures are of her. Of course both victims revealed she has a tattoo, and they didn't answer the judge when he asked her about that... and the allegations are of more than just sending pictures. I don't think they're going to be able to brazen their way out of this.

Here is a link of the school staff listing. You will notice the woman accused is the preschool teacher, her daughters are also teachers, and then three teachers have the last name of Turner so they are likely all related as well. Let’s hope this church and school are completely shut down for good. I bet her husband and possibly others were covering up for her over the years. How could the school be this tiny and close knit and no one ever suspected anything?

Here are their pictures. Sorry but this dude looks like he took this picture as a joke. It’s ridiculous.

Pastor’s wife charged with sexually assaulting student; former congregants celebrate

[The protesters put signs in front of the church: "THIS CHURCH SUPPORTS A PEDOPHILE"]

Quote

Cook County Judge John Mahoney ordered Griffin to be held on a total of $750,000 bond for both cases during a hearing last week, according to the Tribune. Mahoney further called the allegations “horrible” and ordered that she have no contact with the alleged victims in the case or with any minors. [...]

Protesters on Sunday alleged that there are still many victims coming forward as far back as 20 years ago.

It was unclear if Thomas Griffin is still the pastor of the church but Tiffany Lauren, a former member who also attended the school, explained in a Facebook live broadcast that his name had been removed from church signs and he had reportedly resigned.

If there are indeed more victims this story is going to get uglier.
