So maybe Kent Smith didn't feel he was making enough money at WeighDown anymore and sent his wife, Regina, to work with computers over at Philips Healthcare.  I wonder if WeighDown is less able to support the cult than before.

I’ve wondered about leadership and money.

It seems like more of the Remnant leadership women are working outside jobs than before.

I had the impression Regina Smith had just “worked” for WD at one time, but she has another job.

Candace Anger who used to be at Gwen’s side all the time now is doing some weird “Rare Wine Specialists” side hustle and selling real estate for Brandon Hannah. (Is that just a money thing or is it that her services aren’t needed as much now that Joe is around?)

In last week’s camp-focused YCO show, someone thanked Amanda Baker who “although God has led her to aseason of work” (or some similar Remnant verbiage) helped with the camp kids. She had been a stay-at-home mom (though I think “work” is WFG — whatever they actually do).

Pretty much!

Here’s what Remnant Fellowship folks have to say about Weigh Down TV, paying more for the same old material in new packaging:

“I absolutely LOVE the new WeighDown.TV app!  Thank you once again to Gwen Shamblin Lara and Weigh Down Ministries for making the truth so readily available in one convenient location! I know there are costs but when I think of the ridiculous amounts of money that I spent on gym memberships, diet programs and special “diet” foods in the pursuit of losing weight let me just say with great enthusiasm and passion - the cost of this program is hands down, minimal in comparison!!!!!”

“This entire resource just Rocks!!! I am So Super Excited!!! Amazing‼️‼️???

“I am totally loving the new Weigh Down TV!!!  It’s amazing!! The playlist feature is awesome!!  Thank you Thank you!!”

“Amen!!!  This message of truth has not changed but my life has changed in every single aspect due to what I have learned from WD ministries!!!  I praise God for Gwen and all of the volunteers who have spent countless hours making sure we have what we need!”

“Thank you Weigh Down and Gwen for always thinking about the best way to get the truth out about permanent weight loss out!! ??

My question is, does anyone ever get tired of eating small amounts of crap? Recently I went through a 2 week period of eating lots of processed foods for every meal. Little working out. I felt terrible. I’ve since started eating more volume of fresh foods and have begun working out. I feel so much better, mentally & physically.

Do members ever workout/follow a workout program/eat nutritious foods/go to the gym/run in races/lift weights?? I can’t imagine someone training for a marathon or doing CrossFit and eating tiny amounts of food.

I totally agree. When I consistently eat healthier, I feel so much better. I believe Gwen does not like too much exercise because it becomes obsessive or something. Many of her followers have talked about exercising everyday before joining RF, as if it was a bad thing. I don’t think heavy exercise would work for her shitty eating disorder diet plan because you wouldn’t have evough energy to actually exercise.

I wonder what they think about events like the Olympics. I mean, an athlete eats, sleeps, and breathes exercise and eating specific amounts of calories & macros. It’s all science.

I know Gwen has said before that it’s not bad to exercise, but I’d rather look fit than thin and weak. ???

If WD people *do* exercise much if at all, there is basically no discussion of that. Because then you would be crediting exercise and not Gwen/God for success!

I also don’t imagine Remnant participants have much time for it. After all they’re always expected to be at church, fellowshipping with the saints, love-bombing new recruits, encouraging out-of-towners, helping with weddings, helping families with moves, serving the kingdom, watching Weigh Down TV, reading Weigh Down Works, volunteering for Day camp and other ministries, all while making enough of a living to produce an adequate tithe.

There are organized Remnant sports, like men’s hockey and kids’ soccer. Though that’s probably less about exercise and more about winning for Gwen/God.

Thank you for explaining!! That is definitely a big jump ? what the heck.

Gwen probably has to refresh the coffers since she just had to pay out another 1 million dollars a couple weeks ago to her ex-husband for the one year anniversary of her divorce.

This is all great news as it smacks of money problems, and THAT's what is going to help asphyxiate the creepy Remnant Fellowship cult eventually. Gwen Shamblin Lara doesn't have the capability to manage her empire without her ex-husband's (David Shamblin) help. She's not going to be able to keep her toadies in check. And Joe Lara, her current spouse, who is clearly after Gwen's money, is going to come up short. Ha ha!

You should use better judgement all around. It is clear in our very few rules that you cannot directly quote from closed groups. Period. Read the rules. I made it easy for you. It is number 8.

Ok, I think I got all the posts that violated the TOS and the posts that quoted them! But it is a holiday here, and I am admittedly not fully sober. If I missed any, please report them! If I borked your post, I am so sorry, and it was not intentional. Thank you @nelliebelle1197!  Happy America Day to everyone except Gwen Shambling!

It looks like Gwen upgraded the Daily Devotionals too and it's more of a Sometimes Devotional now. She missed two days and today's devotional is just ten lines from the Bible and two and a half lines from her. (ironically it's about perseverance which seems to be lacking a bit here.)

Good news: there is one form of exercise she approves of. (how do you swim on a path?)

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:5-11

Perseverance means sticking with it even though it might be hard. The path gets narrow as those who are struggling give up. Do not give up, because it is hard to get started again. Just keep swimming!

I love a good devotional that looks to Dory from Finding Nemo for wisdom.

Persistence?  Gwen uses words as if they had no meaning but are merely decoration to adorn her desire to appear (not be) intelligent.

That is an obtuse application of a poorly-written rule and I'm making a thread in the community discussion forum if anyone wishes to participate so as to not derail this thread.

I have two thoughts about this:

1. If God doesn't care what I look like, why do I need to be skinny?

2. She lists exercise with tons of other sins. I totally agree, gym is is a devilish invention.

Well, three thoughts. Jesus has seen me naked so if he thinks I'm fat he's probably right.

It reminded me of this Mormon comedy program sketch

When you can compile statements together , and not be able to tell that it's satire or not , I think that should be a red flag that it might be extreme .

Greed is idolatry, and overeating is greed, therefore Gwen teaches that overeating is idolatry.

Gwen teaches that we need to stop loving all our other idols (things that no one else but her considers to be idols), because we can only love one thing, and if that one thing isn't God then we are going to Hell.

Gwen also teaches that people will tend to try to love two things even though she says they can't.  They will try to love both food and God.  So they will exercise in order that they can be skinny while still loving food.  Gwen teaches that such a scenario is unacceptable and that God will still send you to Hell in that case, because even though you are skinny, you still love food in your heart.

In Gwen's book, the only acceptable reason to exercise is if it feels good to your body and your body is calling for it.  Exercising to burn calories = Hell.

You thought being skinny could protect you from Gwen Shamblin?  You thought wrong.

Yes, she is batshit crazy.

Something's really off here at Remnant Fellowship ... more than usual. Is it possible that the cult's wacky high priestess, Gwen Shamblin, is cracking up completely?

What it Means to Persevere

July 06, 2019

by Gwen Shamblin Lara

Perseverance is commitment to keep going no matter what comes your way or how heavily tested you are, for you are in it for the long haul. Now you know you will never again put food above the Almighty Lord of All.

Never consider giving up. This is not just a decision that you make one time. This is a constant, ongoing decision… first every hour, and then every day. The desire to please God starts off your day and it finishes your day.

Why do you have to keep it in the front and center? Because there are all kinds of things that stop you, distract you, and pull at you. The world does not want you to lose weight, the smokers do not want you to stop smoking, your drinking buddies do not want you to stop drinking, etc. I am sure that you have sensed this by now. Misery loves company, so the demons do not want you to overcome, to be born again, and to be saved from your old self. The world wants you to join them in every kind of dissipation.[Peter 4:3-4]

Day by day and step by step you make every effort and walk on the narrow path and enter by the narrow door. Keep going and you will make it!

It's so weird to attribute your own desire to get skinnier and skinnier to God.
