The two 'guess what's' come across as really combative, condescending, and smug. This is not the excitement of someone who accomplished something big (Guess what?? I wanted to be debt free so badly and I DID IT!!!!) this is someone who is trying to rub something in peoples' faces.

Gross.

And, bratty childish.  Major points lost, Tim. I'm cringing at the thought of him at his next school with that attitude.

Nobody wants to see other people's kissing pictures.  Wtf want to see me and my husband kissing on FB? I'd be embarrassed if someone in the group snapped a shot at us kissing at a concert or something and tagged me in it!  I find it very strange and gross. Poor kids always seeing mom and dad suck face. Gross. Affection is lovely but gross up close kissy pics are fundy porn. What's with these people?!

For me personally it's not so much the idea of the queen giving an interview, it's the fact that whomever made that meme thought she might say "you know". I get a little giggle at the thought of her majesty speaking like that. One thinks Trump is amazing, you know. Maybe it's just me.

Jill is a second generation homeschooler. All the Noyes grandchildren are likely getting the same education. There is no one and honestly we have no clue about David’s education.

David was "saved" by a tract handed to him at the mall. I would be willing to bet he was educated in a public school just like the majority of people in the US. He quite possibly could have learned to run a press by taking college classes - some community colleges offer those. He could have also learned that through working at a printer, however. Either way, we can be sure he didn't have a sheltered fundie-style homeschool education or he'd have been passing out the tracts, not hanging out at the mall getting one handed to him. There are people on his side of the family who can see what's going on educationally with these kids.

My guess is the ultimate plan is to have All Thangs Trooth Print Shoppe print the Bibles and grift online to get people to pay for them.

No way in this universe can they print the whole Bible (any version) in that shop. I don't even want to think of how long that would take on the little press he has, and he can't do the covers or binding at all, that'd all have to be expensively outsourced.

He could probably print Lori Alexander's version, though. It's what, one chapter and about 10 random verses?

Honestly, I sometimes feel as though Jill  intentionally sets Tim up to fail. I don’t see her as wanting her kids to have a better life than she has lived.

I think this too. Most parents want their kids to do better than them. Jill can't stand anyone outshining her, ever. And though they've apparently known for 14 years that he wanted to be a missionary pilot, they've done not one thing to help him reach that goal beyond hauling him to Moody and leaving him some topiaries. Their friend who's agreed to teach him could have been teaching him ages ago. He could have been studying the book work, to at least know what he needed to learn. He could have been learning basic mechanics, to give him a base to build from later. But no, he was filling in workbooks, traveling in the RV, and singing to churches.

Agreed. I think most of us at FJ were really rooting for him and hoping he would prove us wrong. Ironically, his new situation is much more suited toward success yet I have less hope than before after witnessing how he has publicly handled his time at Moody.

I agree as well. I've kind of gone from hoping he succeeds to hoping he gets a reality check and learns to make his own decisions.

I doubt that any fundie family with Internet access will want to get mixed up with Jill.

Unfortunately I suspect any of the fundie families without internet access would probably be offended by her clothes and makeup, so they're out, too.

But that side rarely sees the children; they have no idea what goes on day to day and what type of schooling these kids are not getting; and quite honestly, we have no idea if David or his family are educated enough to discern how truly poor the education Jill is giving them really is. Most people on here are college educated or at the very least highly educated in the school of life/hard knocks. I don't even know if David was graduated from high school.

A beautiful, profoundly true, and very sad sentence. And funny because it's so startling. Like, topiaries?? But yes, that is what Jill prioritized. That's what she apparently sees as her motherly role: providing a touch of homey decor in his new room. As for educating him, she saw her duty as protector and shelterer, that's it. All very stereotypically feminine. And completely impractical.

I mean, it's nice to have a mom be sweet and protective and want to leave you a token of her affection when you first move out (though topiaries and a framed mom pic are, uh, a kinda weird manifestation of that), but that should be ON TOP OF making sure your practical needs have been met, in the previous long term (education) and in the immediate near term (college books). Her passive, "feminine" (in quotes because her idea of feminine is horrifyingly limited) mothering is simply inadequate. Maybe it could have been a nice addition to Timothy's life if he'd had lots of other influences too. Like, he comes home from debate club or hockey practice and she's there with a listening ear and homemade biscuits. But she sheltered him out of life experience. She insisted on being his teacher (every teacher!), his pastor (her ranting/preaching has no doubt been the dominant force in his life), his nearly only friend. She insisted on taking the place of all of these but refused to provide more than workbooks and topiaries, which were comfortable and easy and fun FOR HER.

Goddamn.

When your children are courting and up to their wedding day, they can't kiss, but you think it's appropriate for you to post kissing pictures of you and DD all over the Internet.  If you have to keep showing people you're in lurve by kissing each other all the time, I think it's all a facade and you really can't stand each other.  Like a Disney cast member, you're all about on stage/off stage.

Timothy and (I'm guessing) cousin Joel have been enjoying roller coasters at Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho. He (Tim) has a handful of short videos up on his YouTube channel. (One video posted under first spoiler.) In the Moody betrayed us post Jill said Tim would be flying this June and July in Wisconsin with a Christian pilot the Wings as Eagles Ministry recommended. I'm wondering will Tim be staying with Terry Rushing and his family, with the Christian pilot who is going to train him, or in Fox Valley Tech's housing. They don't have dorms but the website housing section has this:

The Tech Village offers apartment-style student living. Share a comfortable, fully furnished four-bedroom two-bath suite with four other students. Community amenities will include high-speed Internet, walking path and a variety of settings for learning, creating and connecting.

The Rushing family look like the sort of people Jill wouldn't mind Tim staying with. (Picture under second spoiler.)

The kids.  The kids are the ones in prison.

If Jill and David are unhappy with their lifestyle, they have the power to make changes.  The kids - especially the minors - go from the physical bars of a baby cage to the mental bars of ignorance and fear of the world, along with disdain for it.

I've been on vacation for a week and didn't check on the Rods as much, but I missed a lot in just one week!  Jill posting that awful "Let's Take Back the Rainbow" post, Tim's post, the Father's Day kiss behind bars. Haha!  Boy!  I've had to catch up big time.  I didn't like the tone of Tim's post, but I still want to have hope for him.  He really hasn't lived much beyond his Mama and her way of talking and thinking.  They have absolutely hamstrung all of these kids including Tim.  My hope for Tim is that he is open to meeting new people who don't believe that all women must wear skirts and read the KJV.  I just want one mentor to come into his life that he trusts and one who might show him how the world really works - teach him that people who follow different ways are not terrible sinners.

It's also interesting that David and Jill picked a state like WV that seems to not have a very strict approach on homeschooling and graduation requirements.  I thought Jill and David were both from NY state. Hmmmm.....(Please understand I'm not trying to disparage WV.)

The profile pic gives me a vibe that it's only his in name.

I mean, I know Jill is a parody of herself but Timothy, a 19-year-old (20-year-old?) college sophomore (freshman?) has his own social media account, finally, and the profile picture includes Jill. She's so in love with herself she doesn't have any sense that this is weird. Why doesn't she, a grown woman, have her profile picture be of her and her mother? Because if she thinks it's normal, shouldn't it work that way for her, too?

And he has all of those senior pictures RIGHT THERE. It's not like this was the only good, recent pic he had to hand.

Whichever one of them chose the profile pic, it's just inappropriate.

From my personal experience of leaving a fundie situation, Tim will probably need to be pulled aside and told in no uncertain terms that he is being a total fuck twat.  He will then need to decide whether to go totally back to fundieville, or forge ahead and figure out how to fit in. My situation was different in that I  made the decision to cut-off the dysfunctional system I was in and didn't look back. But that doesn't mean my entrenched ideas disappeared in the same moment. I did try to fit in, but the kool-aid is hard to shake-off.

Attitudes and behaviors are ingrained and knee jerk reactions don't simply go away because you've decided to leave a cult.  He doesn't know what he doesn't know and acquiring a new mindset takes a great deal of time. I would give Tim until at least 23-25 years old, to understand and accept a new, more inclusive outlook. He is probably functionally illiterate, unable to see from multiple perspectives and an anxious mess.  My guess is, even if he gets through this, he will feel insecure socially awkward for the rest of his life. I feel for Tim right now, I really do.  I see so much of myself at that age.

Edit: I just want to add that all of the above was predicated on the idea that he chooses a different path than his parents.  Because he still has a lot of contact with "mama," it will be a more difficult path than the one I took.

One of those roller coaster videos says it was shot with a gopro HERO7.  They cost $350.  I am wondering if the go fund me $ was used to purchase it.  I can't imagine him having $350 extra cash especially since he was begging for $ only a few short months ago.  The theme park ticket was $50 too. If I was trying to scrape up some $ to pay for flight training and college I don't think I would have spent even that.  This fits exactly in line witt the spending habits of his parents though.  Any extra cash is immediately spent.  And spent on wants, not needs.

Trump's tweet calling Charles the prince of Whales and Elizabeth Queen of England, produced the most hilarious memes and while it was good for a laugh, it is sad that a head of state can't use the correct title for a head of state and diffentiate between a mammal and a Country. His ignorance is right up Jill's street.
